I also think we shouldn't delete flames/spam because it gives the annoying spammer/flamer a chance to pretend it never happened. If something was really offensive - the mod should just edit the post and write in some fancy mod color, "I am an obnoxious flamer who doesn't know how to control what I say. I suggested something like that in the suggestions board, the only difference is that yours is what I'd rather have happen, but mine is what is more likely to be accepted :( Some people are changed by being a moderator.
