Ebola Virus kills 5,000+ Gorillas

Unfortunatly both Outbreak and The Hot Zone are quite ficticious. Executive Order, is a decent bit more accurate but still a fabrication.

You do get the general idea though. :)

In 10 million years give or take a few the Gorillas will all be human and will destroy the earth again

I really hope your joking

Nope. If we (humans) evolved from gorillas it logically follows that gorillas will continue evolving. It's probably happening right now. Still, they're nearly extinct anyway...

Issy, we didn't evolve from gorillas :|

So what's the difference between Typhoid and Ebola?

Quite a bit really. For starters Typhoid is a bacteria (treatable) and has a 20% mortality rate and Ebola is a virus (no cure) and has a 90% mortality rate. Wikipedia them if you're interested

Evolution happens on hundreds of thousands of years. It's not like one day gorillas will have evolved. It is such a slow and gradual change that humans won't even notice unless in the year 852006 someone looked at a photograph of a present day gorilla.

Ha, that could be a theological argument in people's eyes. I'm assuming you mean we evolved from chimps, not gorillas.

How dare you call The Hot Zone fictional!?

I am outraged!

And you even think Executive Order was more realistic! <.<

(well okay I admit it was a bit exagerated, but fact is, the events happened)

As a side note, ive also read another, less known but equally interesting book simply named Ebola by William T. Close.

If you like Ebola and the stories behind it, the you'd like this book too.

The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak.

In the event that the weighted companion cube does speak, the Enrichment Center urges you to disregard its advice.

A fine book, (I presume you're referring to that) which i'm reading at the moment.

And technically, we didn't evolve from chimps, close to us as they are. Apparently we evolved from Homo Stabilus, Erecutus or one of the other monkeys with a latin name that inspires giggles from schoolboys being taught about it.
