Kinda offtopic but,

compared to Mind runes, Body runes are:

-- faster to runecraft

-- give more runecrafting exp

-- give more magic exp when cast

  • Author

I know they are faster but i need 15,000 mind runes and im still working on 30,000 airs

FWIW, 15,000 Fire Strikes can earn you about 270,000 magic exp,

but 15,000 failed Curses will earn you 435,000 magic exp

for about the same effort and/or price.

Otherwise, you would only need about 9300 failed Curses to earn 270,000 exp.

Umh... Full metal (any metal armour), boots from stronghold of security... Leather gloves.

Which one gives the biggest negative mage stats

they all give the same negative mage attack but youcan wear in addition some nice dragonhide vambraces and a kite shield

What to curse then?>

What to curse then?>

Ok, here's the situation...

Fire Strike averages about 18 magic exp per cast

but Curse always gives 29 per cast.

The trick to efficient Cursing is to always fail when you cast.

That way, you can keep on using the same monster over and over.

You will always get the same 29 exp with each cast.

To fail, you want your magic attack stat to be as low as possible.

You can get it to about -68 with

(Any metal will work) Full helm, chest plate, legs, kite shield, dragonhide

vambraces, stronghold boots, and an Earth staff.

Do not wear a magic ammy.

Now, almost any monster will work.

I prefer monsters that can't touch me in a multi-combat zone.

So you could try casting from the key room in the Varrock sewers across

the water at the 4 zombies in the ladder room.

Or, you could try the caged red monk under the Varrock palace stairs,

or the prisoners in the Port Sarim jail, or the caged lesser in the top of the wizzy tower,

or ducks on the river, or scorps from the edge of the desert mine.

Lots of monsters will work.

Cursing does require you to click each time,

but it is a very cost effective way to raise magic.

Hope this helps

So you will fail every time with about -68?

~Englandman66

I have level 81 magic and I always fail with only -65

So, yeah, you should have no problems failing every time.

Hope this helps

Cursing takes along time and you get no hp, just remember that :wall:

Cursing takes a long time

But it's still more exp than any Mind rune based spell

and far cheaper than any Chaos rune based spell...

...and you get no hp, ...

True

You also get no drops from cursing, but with good safespoting, you can take down almost anything with Fire strikes (or Earth strikes, if you don't like using 2 airs per shot - personally, I'd rather get the max from the long walk mind runes and use more airs).

The strongest point against failed cursing, the sheer boredom of one-shot casting with no reward other than 29 xp for each throw, though it IS a strategy if you want a particular "accessory" level of magic and no extra hp.

..., though it IS a strategy if you want a particular "accessory" level of magic and no extra hp.

The main advantage with failed Cursing is it's cost effectiveness.

Mind rune spells cost about the same as Curse but give less magic exp.

Chaos runes give more exp, but also cost a lot more per cast.

So, overall, if your goal is to "Raise Magic" as cheaply as possible,

then failed Cursing is a good choice.

Although, all of that clicking can get very boring.

But then, most of the higher level skill raising in Runescape is boring.
