What program should I use/get to make backgrounds and landscapes?

For landscapes, use either Bryce or Terragen

Which is better? and can you just download them or do they have to be bought?

Bryce costs around $50 I think, and Terragen is free. Search Google for it.

Okay thanks a lot you guys.... I'll be looking for terregan soon and I think my friend bought a copy of bryce that he said he was going to give to me ages ago so I think I'll ask him for it.

for backgroundst people use adobe photoshop you can get it on kazaa lite

Well, with photoshop, you can do space sigs like you see people around here with. It can do stars, planets, planet rings, nebulae. If you want to be able to do 3d and good abstract, it helps to have something like Bryce.

Oh alright... cause yeah I've seen some good tuts on the web for photoshop but have been by far to lazy to read them but since i've started to post again and i like making sigs I'll start reading them.... but what would you suggest for a forest scene?

uhhh.... when did this become a "whose pirated and who hasnt post" yes i have pirated programs on my computer but so do you and i bet 90% of the people on this forum do... back to my "PIRATING IS BAD!!!" i edited my post because i didnt want to get banned for "Pirating" or whatever so i edited my post to say that

Vue D'esprit is easily the best Landscape program but it costs around $200 and it is very hard to obtain illegially over the Internet.

You have to buy. I don't have the program. Search Google for it to find out.

I'll have to find out where I can buy it... I've got money I'm itching to spend and I figured why not on something I'll actually use :)

not neccesarily, it's quite possible to make good fake 3d in photoshop.

yeah but i bet you have to be uber 1337 to do so... and in which I for surely am not.... just look at my sigs lol.

I know, but for the most part a 3d program is better. You can get better abstract, and more variety.
