Saddam Hussein's Execution and Trial - discuss

Featured Replies

We discussed this in my Citizenship class, one of my class mates came up with:

He killed hundreds of people, and we killed him, that makes us just as bad as him.

I don't fully agree with that, but it's mostly true.

Are you Iraqi? Because Iraq put him to death, not the US.

Do you believe that it is okay to fine people for speeding, littering, or other small offense?

Yeah? If people feel comfortable "breaking the small rules", it makes it easier to break a big one.

Littering destroys the environment, speeding puts lives at risk.

My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. Believe me, nothing except a battle lost can be half so melancholy as a battle won. -Sir Arthur Wellesley

Actually it should read "He killed hundreds of thousands of people and the Iraqi government executed him for his crime so somehow that makes us as bad as him."

Suddenly this statement isn't sounding quite so good.
