The Dark Lord
Okay, someone keeps trying to hack my computer. I was using Windows Firewall, but it sucks, so I got a better one. I am also using Norton, as well as other programs, and they're blocking. But I find it annoying to receive messages that Norton or the new firewall is blocking the same hacker(s). My solution: change my IP address by resetting my modem. Will that throw them off me? SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on. The Dark Lord
So should I just not worry about it?Pretty much. Okay it's annoying the hell out of me when I get like a blocked message every now and then. Isn't it basically just warning me of everything that any other firewall wouldn't? Cruiser
It's more then likely random scans for vulnerable computers and other internet "noise". You'll get stuff like this on any computer directly connect to the net. It's just a fact of life now with all the virii and malware in the wild. As long as you're confident your computer is secure, you have nothing to worry about (just like rick said :P ).
Mercifull
Internet background noise probably. I think my firewall is up to about 400,000 blocked attempts now. I wouldn't worry too much unless one specific ip address is repeatedly trying to access your PC. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Vape
Might be able to turn off the alerts somewhere... additionally, are they all alerts about blocked hacking attempts? I know norton notifies you about a lot of other stuff too. Where the bloody hell are you?
The Dark Lord
Yes, same IP. And Norton blocked this time, and said it's threat level was medium. I told it to quit alerting me on that threat. SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.
Kinslayer777
Err, How would you go abouts changing your real IP? I was under the impression the ISP gave you one, and the only way to 'fake' it was through a proxy.
The Dark Lord
I found it: Swedish servers. It was some program apparently installed. I switched to other servers, no more attempts. Go see for yourself, they're all offline. (Sweden) SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.
Cruiser
Err, How would you go abouts changing your real IP? I was under the impression the ISP gave you one, and the only way to 'fake' it was through a proxy. Many residential ISPs use dynamic IPs so they change each time you connect and disconnect from the network. This way they don't have to worry about assigning an IP to each customer on a regular basis and the network systems automatically reassign addresses that aren't already in use. The down side is it makes it easy for the user to get around IP bans relatively easily by turning their modem off and back on.
