There will be 1024 installed, but for some reason or other the machine isn't reporting all of it. On board video is an example where that happens.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Both of my towers report something like 1020 RAM while both have 2 512 sticks installed. No real idea why they do because onboard video is non-existent but it's never really been enough of an issue to go researching.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It may be reserved kernel memory.. I don't think Windows reports the memory used by the kernel AFAIK
