Barbarian Assault - Is there a good guide for it?

Recommended Posts

I have killed the queen twice as the defender. I am up to Lvl 3. (despite the need for pts in other areas to get the darn gloves). I usually do the defender job to help out the team since noobs make it too hard to get any points/win.

My question is this: Is there a good guide out there? Both with visuals and strategy?

As the defender I took advice off the forum.

1. Load up on bait and call out "Poison food type"

2. Head to right trap, lay all three bait types on trap and leading to spawn points.

3. Pick up hammer and logs now that I have space from dropping bait.

4. Barricade two left most spawn entrances.

5. Lay out more bait on right side and repair trap if needed.

6. Repeat above

Is there a better method?

Help and Advice.

But in case anyone at Tip was wondering, here's my rough guide that I quickly wrote at the SODB for Defenders. I don't really care who sees it, as having more people knowing how to do the job right will at least help the game stay alive.

Too lazy to go and get screenshots and work hard on this lol, so here's my Defender strategy summed up:

1) Lay food in piles of 2-3 random food items in the basic curved line shown in my diagram, leading from the 2 piles shielding the exit to the trap in the east.

2) Drop all remaining food around the 3x3 area of the trap, completely randomly.

3) Next, go get all the necessary logs and a hammer for the amount of Runners you'll have to deal with that wave.

4) Sit back, make sure the food trail and trap food never dissappears (just make another trail on top of your first one so when the first dissappears you have the second one to do the same job), update the Healer, and fix the East trap when necessary.

Basic idea: (don't limit yourself to the number of food piles shown, it changes based on your level)

[]: East trap

Points to clarify:

-It doesn't matter what food you have on the ground. Even if it isn't the food your supposed to be using at the time, the Runner will go for it.

-Runners, in my experience, have an odd tendency to run towards the east trap. For this reason I like to have my curve go east, and also- the Runners will run up the trail of bait northeast to the trap every time, so that makes things easier with none of them running back to the exit.

-Keep an eye on your interface. You may not need the food update, but your Healer partner does.

-No runners will ever get through this because of the two food piles shielding the exit. If they try and escape, they'll hit a food pile and get trapped on the trail leading towards the east trap. So don't worry about 'em escaping.

-You can try going west, but always make sure you have those two piles of food in front of the exit and the trail leading from them to a trap. Without both of those it is possible for the Runners to escape.

-The trail is VITAL. Never let it dissappear or lose parts. If the Runners gobble up a pile, put some more food there asap!

-Food on the trap goes away pretty fast. Always make sure there is a copious amount of food on the trap for Runners to eat up until they get wasted.

This is a very stress free way to Defend. Though it takes a while for the Runner to eat the right food on the trap due to random dropping they usually die pretty fast. You never have to worry about the correct food to use or having Runners escape, (which would lose points for your team). In fact, the only reason anyone has a right to be mad at you is if you don't update the healer, which should be easy for you to do seeing as how stress-free this method is .

In fact, thanks to this method, I now hate healing and only Defend .

[if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or

by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.]

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

Good advice. Better than going and doing barricades that takes u away from the trap and bait. I did see a guide on this website that is well done. I like your plan, it is especially good for level 10 (you know what I mean)

Defender is the hardest class to get pts in. For the others i would suggest you start in room 1 or 0 and play til room 8. Then reset to room 1 by either talking to 2 guys upstairs or entering room 0.

BIG SUGGESTION: If you join a team and you partner is not calling put your commands OR you get unfer 10 pts a game, LEAVE ! Start over by leaving the room and re-entering. Get a new team. Go back to room 1 or 0. You are wasting your time with a bad team.

I would like to supplement the advice above by adding: the Defender's role is to prevent Pennance Runners from escaping. Defenders still get points if the Runners are killed by a teammate using a cannon. So your primary goal should be: Let no Runner leave.

The games are usually long. You don't need to kill the Runners on your first load or two of bait.

I recommend spending the first two loads of Bait leaving piles of 6 bait (2 of each kind) in the area south of the trap/cannon, and east of the exit (as recommended above). However, you don't need to start baiting the trap (only the east trap) until the end of your second/beginning of your third load.

You should spend the first two loads leaving enough piles around to prevent any runners from leaving.

The Attackers and Healers will have their hands full during that time, so you're really in no rush whatsoever to get the Runners killed.

And in the later rounds, be sure to revisit your original piles after the first 2 minutes or so.

EDIT: I forgot to add: don't build any barriers, as it just slows the game down.

Also as was recommended, after each round, take a look at the Advanced Breakdown of the score. If your fighter and healer partners are causing you to lose a lot of points, especially in the early easy rounds, get out and find a new team.

Thanks for all the good advice. I don't mess with the barricades any longer. Problem I have now is getting a team with people smart enough to use the darn horns. I have been able to kill 100% of the runners now. I am on lvl 10 for the 4th time. I hope I can cash in my rewards for all 3 previous queen kills. Maybe later I can "stake". LOL

I only need 33 pts now for Penance Gloves (Attacker skill). I have enough for level 4 but want my gloves first. Next I will work on healer lvls. I have fun when I'm on a good team. I have been on some bad ones where the other players beg me to stay but too frustrating when ur attacker and collector doesn't say jack.
