Examples please Warrior, I'm a little confused at what you mean.

I could file though all of the things wrong with todays money and power hungry capitalist western society, but it would be depressing to say the least. Primative = ignorance and ignorance is bliss. I'd rather be a docile animal sometimes. =P~ I guess that's why you could say I like heavy metal music. You don't have to think about it and theres something so primative about just wanting to jump up and down to rediculously angry and angst-ridden music.

wow.

I'm not saying their bad people at all. I just get really annoyed when people (especially Australians) say how bad we were for taking their land and settling on it. And trust me you'd be over a simplict life in no time.

I have no problem with europe settling Australia, but I do think the aboriginals have a point.

Think about it from their point of view, over all those years they had developed a culture and a way of life, then people who looked, acted, talked and had a completely different way of life intruded.

Bringing many diseases killing lots of aboriginals because they didn't have the diseases there and so had absolutly no immunity to it.

Taking territory by force, building on sacred grounds, trashing their once clean bush, clearing huge areas - thus destroying both food and wildlife... Want me to go on?

Just think about it - no electricity, no running water, no proper housing, no running water, no toilets (you have to go dig a hole everytime you need to do a number 2), no enjoyable things such as tv's, computer;s etc, you'd have to go out and catch your own food -day after day after day for your whole life instead of having the luxury of going to a supermarket, having to live out with the elements - through the rain, hail, wind, sun etc.

Thats the lifestyle they were used to and enjoyed, very few if none of the aboriginals in that generation when Australia was settled in went to the European lifestyle. In fact there are STILL aboriginal tribes in Australia who live the same way they did back then.

The list goes on and on. I'm not bagging out the people (I know a lot of really nice Aboriginals) I'm having a go at their lifestyle

Your having a go at someones culture and lifestyle? What about "Haha look at the stupid chinese, their whole family lives in the same house and they eat with sticks." Oh yeah, thats racism.

and more particularly others (mainly fellow Australians) who are against the settlement of Europeans in Australia.

Were you against the settlement of the germans in europe? In both cases they were forcing their beliefs and lifestyle, and taking land by force. How is it different to what europe did? Don't argue that australia had more room at the time, because that is how the aboriginals lived.

Anyway, Ive enjoyed my Australia Day cooped up in a plane coming home from a vacation to the U.S <.<

What fleet? I was always on two conflicting impressions of where aussies came from.

I'm not sure,

did they,

(a) Evolve from kangaroos?

(B) Derive from those boomerang lucid dreamers?

Are you suggesting...

© Most of they came from prison ships, killing off the indigenous people?

Happy Aussie day :-) I love Aussieland :):):)

Bah, the aboriginals are the real australians. I don't plan on doing anything at all tomorrow.

I hate how people say that - especially Australians. Compared to Europeans they've done nothing to Australia as a country. They just inhabited it first. Big deal. And what makes them any more "real Australians" than others such as the Europeans.

I dunno mate, 40,000 years is alot of history, although they do have a bad wrap these days. I feel sorry for them for the stereotypes, but it's thier own fault in many ways (keep in mind stereotypes are never justified).

What the fact that if Europeans hadn't come they'd still be running around naked, building bark huts, going out everyday to hunt a few kangaroos, then going home at night to jump around a fire (carobaree [sp?]), telling stories about how a Gigantic Lizard once moved through the bush creating now what is hills and valleys. Na that's all true.

So its a good thing that the europeans gave them two deadly diseases, wiped out all the pure blood Aboriginals and totally destroyed their culture? How'd you like it if some one from another place invaded your land, disrupted your ways of life and killed off your race?

Settlement was bound to happen from the beginning of time. Its been happening throughout history for ever. And Notorious_Ice I you wouldn't even be alive (knowing that you're Australian) if it wasn't for British Settlement and you wouldn't be living in the great land of Australia as well, neither would you have the family you have today - you wouldn't even be alive.

Yes I feel sorry and agree with the point about their culture being ruined, though what happened was the inevitable in the world in which we live in. So really all the complaining people go on about, concerning how bad we were the whites taking the indigenous peoples land is pure stupidity, and if you're going to blame Whites for settlement than you may as well have a bit ch about all the countries in the world where empires/countries/civilizations went out and explored and settled (e.g. America, South America, Europe etc). A few of you really need to get back to reality.

Anyway Happy Australia Day! The Pomms have collapsed once again and Australia looks like its about to have yet another easy victory in the cricket.

  I'll assume it's those crownies you bought which has taken your ability to spell away from you. Its spelt bringing. :P

You're right though, England should be fined. That was an atrocious effort. Anyway have a good night matey! :)

Edit: @ Warri0r:  Haha quite true. I'd be looking at fining the English team (as suggested by Aus) for the lack of entertainment value.

I think it was a good idea to post this.

Australia Day hasn't really caught on and few people know why it is significant.

I think you just promoted Johnny H.
