At least economically, Russia should. It would stabilise the economy and make some sense out of inflation. It bugs me that Russia is constantly getting ignored while Turkey is still under consideration.

Please, no, not yet! The E.U. has been expanding way and way too fast. Think of the poltical debacle when Poland joined. The E.U. is seriously overstretching itself, which can be no good to anyone.
