Aresgodowar
depending on the ammount of addy ore in hobgob mines you might make more money mining those and selling for 1k ea. Freesia
Rune spawns every 45 minsRune DOES NOT spawn every 45 minutes. Even if you are the only person in the server, it'll take as long as 25 minutes. If world is full, it's about 13 minutes. Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.
l0rdbarney
2k Rune ore is ALOT of rune ore. Rune spawns every 45 mins, now lets do some math. A world hop takes around 45 sec, mining both rune ore takes around 25 secs, thats 1 min and 10 sec per 2 ores so thats around 1 hour to get 28 ores (including banking), so if it takes 1 hour per 28 ores then you would need to play 71 hours getting your 2k rune ores, now that don't sound like alot of time until you break it down into days, 5 hours a day thats only 14 days or 2 weeks. If you only play 3 hours a day thats 23 days or 3 and a half weeks or a month. Also note: Some one once said its impossible to get 100 rune ores in one day so I don't think my times are correct, I think my times mite be wayy to short. ok as u can see my mining is nowhere close enough for rune, but i can bet my life that 2 rune ores cannot by mined in 25 seconds, maybe a minute per ore, coal is like 1 every 7 seconds, mith is like 1 every 20, so guessing addy be 1 every 30-50, so rune cant be 12.5 per ore... common sense bud, common sense.. btw to the topic starter, u shud probly smelt, u can easily find in smithing forums ppl who pay 2 coal/1 iron and 100 gp per steel bar, so like every second(that it takes to make a bar) u are getting 100 gp, and running to bank takes only 20 seconds tops, mining ores will not only take longer, but a lot more clicking and isnt consistent, u may get losing streaks in which ppl keep robbing ur rocks, i wud go with smelting pure:demon_x_king
l0rdbarney
my brother mined 12k coal in 3 days so its not a dream. lol i cant mine 2k in that time :( i believe that it takes aprox 2 hrs 40 mins to mine a k of coal. So your brother spent, out of 54 hours, 40 hours sat on his computer. I smell either an complete weirdo, or bull. uhh, so is by brother do u mean ur autos, cuz u said 2 hr 40 minutes, that 9.6 seconds per coal which is average, but ur not counting banking so thats like 5 seconds per ore, which is possible but not consistently for a 12k of ores i hate u noobs who say stuff to sound like ur all cool or something like from a thread on worst ways to die, some1 said"dying to a chicken, ya it actually happened to me", u cant die to a chicken and ur just trying to be funny or something, trying to fascinate the ppl reading ur post, its just idiotic... pure:demon_x_king
Doomster
A plan that makes money from ores before rune, is going to be a lot faster (and less boring), than one which starts "get 85 mining". The other thing though, to mine and sell iron ore by the K, to upgrade to coal at guild level, or to so both and smelt to steel, probably the most useful permutations. Smelting steel should get a bit more return on the ores, but adds time - maybe keeping a K of steel in stock, also holding a spare K of iron and 2K of coal (a "steelmaker" pack) would enable you to fill the most likely requests, as well as selling iron or coal alone. Pre-arranged trades (trade areas on this forum, or reading the official ones for deals) would be the normal way to shift steel bars, while ad-hoc ore trades can often be found at Falador west in many worlds, not just the mojor trade ones. Magic_Shad3
Powermine in Al-karid -3 iron ores - drop - 3 irons ores drop etc... Then when u get 85 take rune legs pl8 and a rune pcik.. go out and mine like hell.. never log out right next to the ores but behind some of the normal rocks pretty close to the ores.. then ur chances of getting pked is low.. + remember food and mabye some rune to teleport if some guy hunt u to lvl 20 wildy.. BUT if ur account isnt too strong - high def and hp - i would train those skills while powermining iron.. and allways take world 1 or 3.. since then the ores respawn faster when powermining.. And bank every like 10 ores.. i have tried so many times just 1 ore away from full package and then getting pked:( so sad.. YOu can get like 100 ores a day and still do other stuff.. rune mining is easy and just find a perm buyer and then u have no prob selling it.. This is mch faster than banking the ores and selling or mabye smith em.. since for the money u get now u just have to buy ores or bars and smith em.. no hard work:) and if u somehow lose ur money ull have no prob getting em back.. but if u do the other stuff u have been tallking about ull have to start all over.. Gin_and_Tonic
Your best bet when you log out would be to look like a playerkiller if you're mining rune. Wear monks robes, take an anti dragon shield, and weild a Rune scimi. If you dont skull, they probably wont bother attacking you.

Why wouldn't someone attack me when he knows i am carrying 11k-300k worth of stuff? I am doing what u said, powermining to lvl 85 (as I get 70) No! You'll die if you try to kill that farmer!nah whips should be as left as is. besides theyre the intestine of an abbysal demon (i think) have fun crafting that. mrsir17
my brother mined 12k coal in 3 days so its not a dream. he would have had to play... 12-14 hours a day? pretty much no-lifeing it... that wouldn't even be fun. :-s I, too , am going for 84 mining(then using dwarven stout). I have about 1,200,000 or so xp to go, but I am powermining, and at the amount I play each day it'll still take about 3 months... rune is definately worth it. if you got 28 in 1 hour, that would be close to 300k an hour... a pretty decent living. earning millions is never going to be easy unless you have, like, an unlimited supply of buyers and sellers to make profit off of merchanting.... so yea mining rune is one of the best ways(THE best way for f2p) to get GP. goal:1000 total f2p lvls. Guest ShadowClawe
Ty for comments. I am probably mining all the iron and banking it for using in smithing. When I reach lvl 85 I will begin mining rune. Oh, shud I make a scout lv3 or a lv35ish one? Or, you can get your prayer up decently and use protection from meelee or magic or whatever, when someone is there mining the rocks. Then either you can harmlessly mine with him fighting for the rocks, or you can just kill whoever it is, since you have the protect spells. And when no ones there, there shouldnt be a problem :) Then when your prayer runs out, then just tele varrock or the closest bank to the rune rocks (of which i cant think of since im f2p) that has an altar close by. Happy mining.
