I'm assuming you have your ID papers from the Gruber in the other house in Brimhaven. Sorry if those questions sound silly, just trying to think of reasons it might not be working for you. It was the same for me, I couldn't get the key from the guy, then found out it was amongst the junk in my bank. I had picked it up from the ground.
