Miluion
I have Windows XP. When I click "Turn Off Computer" everything freezes except the hour glass cursor. I can't click anything. So I've been turning it off by holding the power button, which I don't want to be doing. I've done nothing out of the ordinary to cause this to happen. It's been doing it for about a week. Anyone know the problem and how to fix this? Need anymore info, you can ask. Thanks a lot.
Darrel104
I have no idea what that could be but here are 3 links: http://aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.htm http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=320008 http://aumha.org/win4/a/shutdown.htm Have you tried switching user and then shutting down? Is there any error message at all?
Blipo
First, make sure any other users are logged off - go to Task Manager and have a look under Users. Then, go to your Proccesses tab, take a printscreen, and link me to it. (include the taskbar CVP)
Cruiser
Do you by chance have Norton GoBack installed? It had issues with my dad's machine (just like everything else Norton related did :? ) and caused slow shutdowns. Don't hurt me for asking Norton lovers. :P Virus and spyware scans done to check the simple stuff? This utility service from MS might also be helpful. It's been posted in various tech forums to be helpful but I have not used it personally.
