nothing is really random...

its all a code

lets put it tthis way

rs has a book with 2million different numbers on it, and after all those numbers it repeats

its just a pattern

but long :P

sometimes that what they do other times they will make a long math equation, like, they will take the number from how long ago it was last turned on, or if you ever look at a stop watch, the number faster then the seconds (hundrath of a second) they will take that number then add 2, subtract 10, square it, etc until it becomes really randoum and thats how they do it.

then with this number you will get coins it its between 1-100, you will get a d chain is like numbers 101-102, etc small number = rarer.

the ring of wealth will make it so all the odds of things of less then 10 and change them to 15, and all things that were greater then 10 and subtract 5 from them or coins would be 1-95 and d chian would be 96-102

Dim i As Integer

i = txtInput.Text

Randomize

txtOutput.Text = Fix(i * Rnd) + 1

Exit Sub

I know this incorparates putting into a text box, put i just pasted it from one of my projects.

Simple bit of code for Visual Basic. And perhaps it's something like

If i = 15

THEN

item = *third age item*

ELSE

*something else*

Of course, Jagex use their own programming language, but i doubt it would differ highly.

So yes, it is random in some sense.

EDIT:

This seems more feasable in a large game like Rs, mine is only a small project :P

Same point though.

what i explained is what "rand" does basicly

also on a note to cheeze, dont bump threads if they on the first page, but i can see your new, just giving you a heads up

Well dont you have odds of getting certain rares? Like 1 out of 250 of getting a dragon chain (totaly random number) So after you kill kill around 250 you would get one. Or you get one in lets say 150 kills then you would not get one until 250 kills plues 150 and so on. I think thats only how the barrows works though.

Not at all. It's just probability. As mentioned before, compare it with rolling some dice. The odds of rolling a 6 on a dice is 1/6 or 1.667. This obviously doesn't mean that you are guarentied to roll a 6 if you roll the dice 6 times. Nor does it mean that the number you roll is completely random. The number you roll is always between 1 and 6, with equal chances for each number.

The same applies to monster drops. Each drop has a certain drop rate (the odds of getting that specific drop). A randomly generated number is then compared to these drop rates and the drop is selected. Each kill the chances for a specific item are equal.

Hope this helps :)
