i just notice range blows compared to defence
lol range isn't as bad as ya think.. i personally love to train range still

ranged is awful to train, i hate it so much, its like 3, 4 11, 4 , 5 0 , 1, 6. its like 90% of the time your doing damage but its never like high damage. i gotta castle wars with a msb and iron arrows and its like constant damage from a distance, but i know i could melee harder. so i just get pissed. i love the ability to shoot arrows at people and hurt them from a distance, but honestly [what the heck] is with range? i hit 23s with crystal bow potted. and thats good, for range but [what the heck]? 30 damage @ 60 magic... range just needs a lil empowering that doesnt suck, the crossbows were decent but wow its outrageous to get all that stuff especially for a reasonable bolt.

id love to have 99 ranged, but wow...take forever and i love the idea of the accumulator but i still have memorys of before it and pick up whatever it doesnt or feel bad for not. and alot of good spots i want to go, dont allow for it or are crowded. id goto the ogre cage, fence... dust devils... i think the flood messes it up. if i could use it in castle wars, id train range their. i guess ape atoll is my best bet.

lol i'll stick to my mith addy and rune arrows.. I never go under mith and haven't since like lvl 44 range.. I really don't mind range training I hit well usually alot of 10-14s with my mith arrows so i really can't complain but bein a lvl 99 range for some time now i guess my opinion maybe a lil bias lol

If you believe that training on attack raises your chances of hitting, training on strength makes you hit more (yes, it does actually), etc, and have therefore said that training on defence makes it slower, remember that then you won't get hit as much, and will therefore be able to train longer.

You all have to remember though that although you hit harder with aggresive you also get hit on alot more. And i am not using this term lightly.

So wait.. if you actually train strength with a weapon, you can hit higher?

I thought it was like this.. if you have 80 strength, it just the same max even when you train defence.. :-$

no, your max increased by +1 usually when training in aggressive mode.

hmm its +3 for the style you use...line in RSC

I think training defense is harder because you don't hit as much since you have a defensive attack apposed to an accurate or aggressive one.
That only effects the xp amount. It doesn't effect how you hit. What effects how you his is the attack style relative to what the monster is weak against (crush stab or slash). whip is all slash so they are all the same. (i think)

Well in RSC if you chose a particular style of attack you would get a +3 bonus in that area. (If you were on attack mode you would be getting a +3 attack boost). I'm not sure if this carried over to RS2 but that could affect how well you hit using each of the attack styles.

It did, that's why using strength mode usually increases your max hit by 1. Also controlled gives +1 to all 3 melee skills at once.

Are these your assumptions or can we find this somewhere in knowledgebase? Or maybe some people did some well thought trials and kept record of the results?

I personally never have experienced these differences in attackstyle (apart from the crush/slash/etc bonusses) so I would love to see some proof..
