This is ironic given your name. That's not irony (I think).

    >implying you should do it even if it makes you nervous and uncomfortable Just don't go.
  6. This reminded me of that one post on /b/ where someone posted a picture of a circled sentence on a wall saying "everything looks better in a circle" and then someone replied with a picture of the Nazi flag and said "you mean like this?" Um, on topic... Sundays.

No one is pushing anything into your face. The only 9/11 related anything I've seen so far today: a) optional remembrance ceremony at my school (but we do remembrance ceremonies for everything) that I didn't go to b) article on the front page of wikipedia, which makes complete sense being there c) 9/11 thread d) your poorly thought out arguments e) some football player wearing american flag colored gloves and cleats Go ahead and turn on the news to any major network. I bet they're doing something related to 9/11 either right now or will be within an hour. Head outside, there might be ribbons placed on telephone poles like they have here. Go on Facebook, bet half the statuses today have something to do with it. In my school there's a huge table right in the middle of the main hall with a big poster on it, and sharpies to write things. Flip through some channels, I bet there are plenty of 9/11 related documentaries and such on many channels. And if you express an opinion that 9/11 wasn't that bad, or that by remembering and fearing it so much the terrorists goals are accomplished (terrorism...terror) you're going to be labeled as the biggest jerk alive. Oh, and don't forget the huge memorial service for it in New York that is probably holding up massive amounts of traffic. And the two wars or so started at least partially because of those events.

The concept of 2,000 (Closer to 3000 iirc) people dying at once is a result of one event is probably more shocking than the fact that 6000 people die a day by other means in the USA. Especially considering that those 3000 people or so were completely healthy, and their deaths weren't a result of an accident, and that it was preventable. After doing all the math, I figured out that about 9000 (completely serious here) people die due to hunger just during school hours (assuming around 7:30 to 3). During school, on ONE day, 9000 people die due to hunger, which is EASILY and entirely preventable. But you don't hear anything about that. The news networks don't give a single [bleep] about that, and therefore the people probably don't either. My real problem I guess is that people act like the attack was the most massive thing to ever occur and that it needs to be honored and remembered and we need a full goddamn week of all 9/11 programming. I believe people SHOULD mourn, and should remember those who died. Just PLEASE don't push it in my face and demand that I feel the same.

Over 6000 people die every day in the United States alone. Why are those who died by a falling building more worthy of remembrance than those who die by murder, or by car crash? Was half trolling, half totally serious.

This is what I read in my head whenever I see the inevitable hurrdurr 9/11 was 10 years ago forget it / more people died in [thing] remember that instead. I posted my honest thoughts on it. Not trying to seem smart, it wasn't a "smart" thing per se. I'm sure your friends all see you as really edgy and cool. My friends (actual friends) understand and agree to an extent. 327 comments by the end (I hope it's the end...). Take note that it consisted of about 15 people, with most talking done by about 3-5. Every single person who commented (besides me) insulted other people. I never once insulted anyone and always brought the "discussion" back to actual points and counterpoints. Ideally the entire thing would be a civil discussion among people who kind of know each other, but it ended up being mostly people throwing insults at each other. Am I some kind of psychopath or something?

Today I posted a status on facebook along the lines of (insert logical, harsh truth about 9/11 here) and have over 250 comments on it so far...
  13. You think airport security has actually significantly improved since the attacks? Yes. I'm not saying it's good or the right thing, but you can't carry boxcutters anymore. Or anything sharp and actually dangerous. Plus now they scan inside your clothes and scan for explosives and residue powder.
  14. Right, I'm saying it should not have. So? With such terrible security it was bound to happen.
  15. 9/11, September 11, September 11th, etc. are dates. Not events. If you were talking to someone who didn't know about it, they would assume 9/11 just means September 11 and nothing else. Look at the Oklahoma bombings, Columbine, the Valentine's Day Massacre. No dates, just names. To be fully honest, people make way too big of a deal about it. It was bound to happen, we had [developmentally delayed]ed airport security before then. Not even 3000 people died, while EVERY SINGLE DAY over 6500 people die in the United States alone. But you don't hear [cabbage] about them, it's all about the "heroes" that "died for our country". It's ridiculous.
  16. The arrogance of the US to call the world trade center destruction simply 9/11, as if it's *their* thing. 9/11 is a day, not an event. [bleep] you herrderpica, I'm going to canada
