  1. Funny, I thought those *exact* words upon reading the thread. ;) It wasn't chaotic at all. Today's killing is chaotic. One hundred people on one person and the combat lasts less than a second? Oh, sick. Not. The three rounds of combat rule was brilliant and crucial. Back then you could only attack four levels above or below your level, (which you didn't know), every place but Lumbridge, which entailed no attacking. Nowadays, if they ever did bring this back - which they won't, it'd be interesting if different areas had different level values of who you could attack. Such as Varrock having a limit of only two or three levels above or below you. However, the sewer would have a limit of twenty. Things like that. Random land inbetween key places, like the desert between Al Kharid and the scorpion pit could be ten or so.
  2. If anybody's curious, I'm the one that invented 'ch00b,' probably in the Spring of 2001. :) It 'twas both Numb22 and I that came up with it. I first started it out as Ch00bax0r, a pun on Chewbacca. ;)
  3. The very first days of February, 2001. :D Back when this game was truly fun! I remember finding a bronze large helmet laying on the ground and I freaked out from finding such incredible treasure! Hiya, Gugge. :) It's been years since we've spoken! Hope you haven't forgotten about little ol' me. ;)
  4. Sorry, Evan, I was the feared PKer of 2001 and 2002. :) The final 'class' you could pick that everyone can't think of was 'Necromancer.' You'd get a bonus in evil magic and a black wizard hat. The wizard gave good magic stats and a blue wizard hat. :)
  5. Glad to hear your interest in the glory days of RuneScape! :D You should check out some fun, classic pictures I've posted in the topic "new ones remember, old ones get schooled!" They illustrate some fun times of 2001-2002. :) Hm, I'm not sure if I could write an entire history of RuneScape's early days. There was so much going on! Although, I can tell one fun tidbit. ;) When the wilderness first opened, it was not long after rune items had been first released, and this was also before the make-over mage or anything like that. There was no rune plate mail, yet, so most people wore a rune chain mail. I personally wore an adamantite plate mail, because I thought it looked nicer. Anyway! You could see the colour of people's sleeves when they wore the chainmail, and I remember that I could identify some very dangerous players from far away just by their sleeve colour. I recall Robin Hood2, Who Da Best, and others like Terminator and Tiwi having red sleeves. I remember being very scared of people with red sleeves before I even checked the name or level. ;) Believe me, in the early days of the wilderness, you did not want to be in a crossfire with Who Da Best or Robin Hood2! I think Oldmanschild and/or Danny1880 had red sleeves on their shirts, as well, eek!
  6. Small world and one server to boot! You can imagine how tight the community was. :) You'd often run into your friends a lot, and see familiar faces all the time. Nowadays there's, what, 150 servers? Yuck. I liked when we had three or four. I remember one of my oldest friends was a player by the name of Cali X. Not famous, although he had very respectable stats. We became friends because we'd run into eachother at the scorpion pit by Al Kharid all the time. :) He also started the fashion that I borrowed of wearing an amulet of some sort, gloves, adamantite legs and a crossbow. That was all. Looked killer!
  7. I go to art school for cartooning, and I must say I enjoyed the one about shark cooking a lot. :)
  8. Whoa, Dragn, thanks for posting those links. :) So many memories, I really miss those days and the whole original gang which made up our RuneScape. :D Here's an especially large, but quite unique picture from back in the day. It's a picture that someone (not me) took of a war that was going on while reading about it on the ORIGINAL Tip.It forums. We can see the infamous WOLF posting about the war. "Gladz vs. somebody. GRARG!" Anybody who went to the original Tip.It forums can't possibly forget SupersayinG, the ultimate spammer and professional pain-in-the-neck that couldn't be banned because he used AOL, which would ban everybody who used AOL. The chaos that ensued! Here's one of a glitch that my friend sent me, (can't recall who, although I want to say Arsenes for some reason.) Someone on his friend list was 'invalid_name,' and was actually on-line. I don't think we ever found out what was up with that? Here are some of me killing the lovely Jenstarr and Tks for some 99 stats. :D My close friend Dakiller and I would always tie in jokes with steel daggers. I later killed Dakiller for 99 hitpoints, and he dropped 30 steel daggers, I still have one in my bank from four years ago. :)
  9. I remember the day when there was a gigantic glitch throughout all of RuneScape where just about everything was censored to "Cabbage!" Not just one word, either, you could type a whole sentence and all that would appear is "Cabbage!" It was hilarious; I don't think anyone really knew what to make of it. :) It was apparantely just a bug while the chat-filter was being designed.
  10. Oy The Great, that's awesome you have all those pictures! :D I'd love to see the one(s) of me when you are able to post some. Yeah, Igor, I totally remember your name. And I haven't heard of Arris in at least four years. :P What memories! I have a picture of somebody's inventory filled with 29 knives or so, all equipped, haha. And yes, that was my lava maze, after all. ;)
  11. Bored, was Igor 10 the name you played with back in the day? It seems so familiar. I don't think we've ever spoke, though. But yeah, I do love that picture. :) Cavalier was honestly only testing the bug, he only did it on White Knights in Falador to get more information on it. He wasn't the first to 99 cooking, Tks was. It's a shame Cavalier was banned. Anyhoo; here are some more pictures to add to the fun! Andrew and Manager on 'nature rune island' buying beer for 100 gold pieces each, oh the days. A personal kill of mine, and the best kill to date at its time. (April, 2002.) Some archer that was created to shoot me while I was in the lava maze didn't realize that I'd soon own all those arrows. ;) This is the earliest RuneScape picture I have saved, dating July 14, 2001. I'm 99% positive that this is when Mysticsmagic hit 70 crafting, and was the first to make diamond amulets, and she had a free crafting event. Just a nice shot of me taking half of the server status in my name. ;) Early! Apparantely the server had just crashed, being up for only three minutes. Ah, the now legendary Christmas of 2001. I'm using a christmas cracker with the lovely Goneril. Remember when we had double-coloured aprons back then? :D Okay, that's all for now. :]
  12. Those were incredible pictures, honestly. Thank you for posting them! :D If you're curious, I was the one that made that signature for Fook A Ji. ;) That was a time when I was making quite obnoxious signatures for my friends. :D I see that somebody wants a picture with Muhahahahaha in it? Well, I didn't take this, but I've had it saved for nearly five years. I thought it was hilarious. He's smiling amidst the chaos that is RuneScape. Even worse, when caps lock was a possibility.
  13. DragnFly! :D My, my, my, it's been awhile! I don't know if I've got any pictures of you, but it sure is nice to see a familiar name. ;) Hope things have been well.
  14. Eq T! :D So nice to hear from you, pal. Am I old enough? ;) Haha. I'm always on the look-out for the original players. Add me to the list!
