  1. I know it's not relevant here but as a sidenote I've never really got Tip.It's fascination with stickies. In other forums I go on, both in the gaming world and out, stickies are used as a kind of 'board announcement' for new, official information or important topics. Poplular threads, like the relationships/RL pictures threads in OT would be left to fight for themselves in another forum. Like I said this isn't really important to this issue but just a comment about sticky threads in general.
  2. Ahh well my food wasn't baked and I've got a skin allergy to metals so I don't wear gold. Who's laughing now? :shades:
  3. I am genuinely impressed and amazed by this. Fair play...
  4. There's been five pages worth of posts in the past few hours. Is there some record you guys are trying to break for the worst-dealt with e-conflict ever?
  5. I don't argue against consolidation I just think the topic at hand is too large to cover in a single thread. If I was doing essay then yeah sure I could cover it with one essay but Internet threads don't tend to follow PEE structure.
  6. A myriad? You mean four threads out of the thirty on the GD's front page?
  7. "Botting" is just too big an issue with many seperate aspects to be lazily jumbled together under one thread or sticky. It's fine as is.
  8. Nice one. Same for just about everyone else who listens to music, mainstream or otherwise. Personally I can't stand metal, but I'm not going to slate you for liking it or claim my preferred music is better simply for not being metal.
  9. Is Henry still stuck in that tunnel because the rain might spoil his paint? http://www.youtube.c...h?v=umpiWn3QCdg That video actually traumatised my childhood. Poor Henry... :(

-No longer feels so confident about taking driving lessons-
  11. I'll take some cheese sandwiches instead.
  12. I think a lot of shyness comes down to people second guessing themselves because they find new social situations very overwhelming, with the sheer quantity of information that's exchanged in a conversation. But you just have to learn to deal with it because you can't live like a hermit your whole life. The only way you challenge that lack of self-confidence is by putting yourself in new situations and learning how to cope. Of course what most people learn is that the introduction is the hardest part, but once you've broken the ice it's actually quite easy so long you've got a common interest. If he's clinging onto you guys, it's not fair on you and it's not healthy for him since ultimately, he's not going to wake up one morning and decide to not be shy any more. If he really doesn't have anything to talk about then... maybe he needs to find a hobby and find some friends through that?
  13. Oh, now this is brilliant. I mean Ke$ha is just so mainstream in comparison to Scorpions.
  14. I Gotta Feeling was played at nightclubs and parties me and my friends went to, so there's some good memories there. I knew it was the best selling iTunes song ever because it was on the news. Before Black Eyed Peas I think it was Crazy by Gnarls Barkley, but I might be wrong. Ke$ha was played at the rugby league club I support before matches just to entertain people who were taking their seats prior to kick-off. BarelyPolitical on YouTube made a parody of Tik Tok too, and I'd subscribed to that channel during the 2008 US Federal Elections. Last.fm scrobbler played it a couple of times too. Also, I read Q magazine and the NME online and they're renowned for making hate articles once something gets too mainstream, so I usually hear about pop acts through them even though I haven't listened to them. The only radio channel I listen to regularly these days is BBC Radio 5live, which is a sports/current affairs station.
  15. I'd point out 'English' is a proper noun too, but... there you go. Anyway we're digressing.
  16. I've not listened to commercial radio in about four years so... I really have no idea where this mass stereotyping is heading.
  17. Erm... I can't speak for Tip.It or other websites but if an article on Wikipedia is directly instructing people how to use a piece of software then feel free to send me a PM listing such articles, and I'll look into it, or you can contact the WikiProject directly on there. Wikipedia is not a manual, so there shouldn't be any sections instructing people how to make a bot. Looking at the AutoHotkey article on Wikipedia it does seem to be very low quality (Start-class) so there's a good chance it might need looking into as far as Wikipedia's own guidelines are concerned. That obviously doesn't answer your question and I'm sure an admin here can answer it instead but Wikipedia's own guidelines mean such a situation should theoretically never come to light since it's the instructing and advertising of bots Tip.It objects to, and neither of those activities are ever condoned on Wikipedia.
  18. The Black Eyed Peas are a mainstream act by anyone's definition and they wrote a song about the War on Terror, which was arguably the biggest single issue that dominated the last decade (following as a consequence from 9/11). They've also written a song about getting smashed at a house party which you allege is a bad influence on young listeners, but was the best selling song on iTunes ever. Are they political activists, or the inspiration of tearaways? Perhaps they're just reflecting what the 'mainstream' public already feels and what they already do in their lives. The reality is most young adults go out to parties and get drunk, it's not really any particular artist who caused it. It's just too simplistic to say, "This band from the '70s gives more meaning to their songs". Ironically, it's actually a meaningless statement unless you define what 'meaning' actually is.
  19. I think the team-39 cape is the one in my POH but it never sees the light of day, and I don't even have a skillcape on my new account. Guthix cape instead.
  20. I said I think her music is alright, I didn't say she was necessarily talented from a musical perspective. She's not pushing the boundaries of contempory music, no. You're confusing music made for art's sake and music made for commercial success. If someone in the latter group uses an autotune to make it more audible, I really couldn't care less. It's not a talent show, it's about what I like listening to and what I'm prepared to pay for. What do you propose: banning autotune and forcing consumers to listen to singers who can't sing that well? As far as Ke$ha's impact on young teens is concerned, young girls since the Second World War have found an interest in songs that refer to alcohol and partying. 12 year old girls want to behave like 18 year old girls within their cultural group. That's pretty much universal across all western countries. Your attitude is similar to those who say punk music turns adolescents into uncontrollable anarchists, when it clearly doesn't. If young boys do turn into anarchists, I'm more likely to blame their parents since such boys are very much in the minority. Ke$ha may give young teens an image to chase but she doesn't create the situation where they turn drunk just to have a good time.
  21. They can't find time? Interesting: Granted, that's for substance abuse but none of those seem to imply the addicted are in control of their urges sufficiently enough to avoid neglecting themselves in order to feed them. If they can't find time for it, they'll take the hours from somewhere else. Firstly sleep, then into activities of daily living probably. I'm just going to follow LDZ's lead and ignore you. You clearly don't know what you're talking about, you're mashing words into sentences and hoping they make logical arguments all for the sake of frustrating people and frankly, I'm not game.
  22. I think the basic flaw is they're not doing it. Would a gambling addict give over their money to someone else so they can do it instead? If they were banned from the bookies, maybe. Otherwise, no.
  23. They're addicted, therefore they bot so they can spend time away from the game...?
  24. If it's not the setting of goals or wanting of rewards (both are congruous as far as I'm concerned so stop using weasel words to distance yourself), are we to believe there is anything inherently enjoyable about clicking on a tree and waiting for a log to appear? In fact, not even that for Ivy. There is a short-term thrill that comes from exploration and the discovery of something new but that wears off very quickly. The reinforcer comes in the form of hiscores, achievement capes and completely cynical "skills reqs" for minigames and quests.
