  1. The fastest turnaround :( Am I allowed to like it on the basis of it being a jackal? Jackals don't get nearly enough love
  2. I recently tried one of X, without the XP Share and on set mode. I also managed to miss every single mon with a fighting resistance in favor of those with fighting weaknesses, or just no defense in general. Korrina's dual Lucario will forever haunt my nightmares.
  3. Honestly, I think we've seen more Zarosian locations with that layout than ones without. This one changes things up by being rectangular rather than rounded.
  4. I've just been getting the sense that they've been throwing 70-80s on a lot of quests solely so that they can justify giving it the grandmaster title, without really bothering to explain them. In my case it's not "these requirements are too high" as much as "there is literally no justification for these specific requirements". Or maybe I'd just like to see them expand on/standardize the system they used for TWW and those remakes: light requirements and rewards for the base quest, with more content afterward. And then trim the quest cape once you've finished all of it

    ON IT ...Wait. Shit.
  6. Still, you don't really need to inflate the requirements to tell a good story, and there are better ways to make a quest challenging than to slap a bunch of 80s-90s on the front of it. I'd honestly like to see them change the way they sort quests. Going purely by raw levels is outdated when so many lore/plot-heavy quests have minimal requirements and when so many recent GM quests have been a complete joke in terms of content.
  7. You'd still have to do the quests - that cape was never about grinding in the first place. Most of the requirements are arbitrary, anyway - you could probably get away with cutting back on them in the future, if nothing else. I think we're getting to the point where GM quests that have used the skills they require are outnumbered by those that don't. Even ROTM could have done without its mining/crafting reqs.
  8. I get the feeling that the retro aesthetic is making a comeback thanks to indie games. There's a pretty big market for that kind of thing (not just because of nostalgia) and you can't discount it just because it's not as flashy as newer games. What's cartoony and dated to one can be simple and expressive to another, while realistic and gritty can just as easily be dull and uninspired (Zelda: Wind Waker versus Twilight Princess, or Team Fortress 2 versus CoD/Battlefield. Not saying anything about the quality, but you can do different things with each aesthetic) I might not like OSRS, but I still think they could learn a thing or two from it... Not the more-blatant-than-RS3 pandering elements (you're playing a game made specifically to cater to RS07 players who are upset about EoC, they're probably going to agree on stuff), of course, but the simplicity/clarity of it. RS3 is less a consistent game and more a collection of needlessly complicated features from different eras that only barely fit together. Too many cooks, and all that. Or, as has been said before, compare it to other free MMOs (rather than itself) and see how it stands up. I tried a couple a few years ago and (at least from a couple of hours of gameplay) their combat systems managed to be about as involved as EoC without all of its arbitrary complexity - each action felt necessary and strategic. On the other hand, Scape has noncombat skills and options that had about as much depth as combat, and story-driven quests rather than gameplay-driven quests... Nowadays they've neglected the former and bad writing plagues the latter.

And a fantastic post it is!
  10. For what it's worth, people thought skill capes (and later max/comp/especially comp-T) were going to be like that.
  11. Sounds suspiciously like that thing Scientology uses... Zaros confirmed for Xenu?
  12. How to tell someone that plays Fire Emblem/XCOM/other-turn-based game from someone that doesn't: ask them if they fear the RNG. :twss: (failures that cost resources aren't that common)
  13. Oh goddamn it
  14. You underestimate my chaotic stupid tendencies.
  15. These are the people that voted against giant spider guards for Lumbridge.
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this a big part of why ice barrage was so game-breaking back in the day? There wasn't a whole lot you could do to counter that.
  17. Can't get the virtual hug thing right now. Pretend it's here :(
  18. Cannot compete with poetry.
  19. It's still broken when it comes to hitting targets though, even in melee distance.Still, now you can miss from a distance!
  20. So raving about Tower of God falls on me. Take something that is, at its core, an action series. Give it an underlying mystery and a strong focus on characters. Add in some unique "games" and roles that twist the jobs and classes usually found in fantasy. Then let its art and storytelling evolve over from decent to consistently beautiful, with an unexpected level of emotional depth. Also, Rak Wraithraiser is the best heroine you could ask for. TNPW post about something from their home country/state.
  21. Which is more important: prestige or gameplay?
  22. Alg replied to PoorLepRecon's topic in Off-Topic
That's really nothing new, though. Endgame/near-endgame routes are usually populated with evolved forms of early-mid game mons, maaaybe with a new option or two. You're generally expected (by other players, if not by Game Freak) to have your final team in mind by the midgame.
