It isn't the worst I've ever seen (first attempt). Though the background is horribly easy, and looks as if no brushes were used at all. Which is ok.... since you're new :) . The text is alright. It could use a few extra blends to make i flow in with the picture more. I also see quite a bit of cut/paste jobs (I don't mean renders... I mean cut & paste jobs), so the you can still see some background around the pictures. It LOOKS like you did the little transparancy thing to them (dunno name for it), which helped a bit. It is an ok first attempt. I've seen better and far worse. I suggest trying http://www.good-tutorials.com for some easy/difficult, fun, and very detailed tutorials. Trying out a bunch of different tutorials will get you familiar with how to use Photoshop, and may also teach you some tricks. Hope I have helped, even if it was just a little.

I like it lots. 7/10. Don't much like the fading stars though. I mean, I like it, just not that type of animation. A softer type of luminosity is probably what I'd use, but I still think it's quite cool. :)
-
.... what in the heck? You changed the color of "Rune" and "Scape", and added some green lines and some words. 2/10. Sorry. It could have easily been done in paint, and completed in no time.

Does it have to be a flash? Just asking. I'm sure I could attempt to whip something up. Won't be be a drop dead beauty though :) .

Couple New Sigs -- *Grunge/Abstract/Small Amount of Tech*
Zibl replied to Zibl's topic in Art and Media
Thanks for all replies! I definetly agree with everyone, the text color for the 2nd picture doesn't fit at all. I basicly just left it like that though. I had fooled around with it for about 20 minutes, trying all different colors and layer effects, but I finally got fed up and just stopped on that. The first one started out REALLY good, IMO. But then I started to mix it up with a bit of grunge and tech. Needless to say, it went down hill from there. Last one is my favorite too. Moeziz, thx for the idea. Only problem is that I dunno how to do any other animation except the one that is on that sig. If anybody knows any website with tuts/guides about animation in Photoshop, post a link plz :) . Thanks for all ideas and comments guys! -
Couple New Sigs -- *Grunge/Abstract/Small Amount of Tech*
Zibl replied to Zibl's topic in Art and Media
Thanks. Surprised I got a reply  :D . I think the last one is the best too. It's not that I hate the text, I'm just not good at deciding which text looks the best with the background, and what to do with it. IMO, I think my pixel/bitmap text always looks fine... but it is the other and bigger text (like where I type 'Zibl') that I don't know what to do with. Thanks for your reply though. :) . -
A few ones I have fooled around with. Now I know... they aren't too great. But Is till see myself as a begginer/amature, because quit frankly I do just about the same thing with every sig I make. Only when I make a sig that is worth recognition, will I become anything more :? . #1 - Nothing much here. There IS a border on it (may be hard to see). Didn't take too long. I dont much like the text though; of course it isn't my strong point: #2 - Again, nothing too much. I personally don't think it's all that great, but I didn't think it was worth to just toss away. So I slapped some Text (which I hate yet again) on it: #3 - Now this one, I like. It is my first attempt at an abstract sig that is more... well... abstract :? . If anybody wants to be nice, they can resize it to fit here on Tip.It (but still have the animation) : Please, please, PLEASE leave any opinions or thoughts. If I'm not told I'm doing anything wrong (or what I'm doing flat sucks  ), then I will just continue to do it and never become good at Photoshop. So all criticism(s), opinions, and ideas are welcome.

I gotta agree. I may be an amature to this stuuf, but that stuff is dirt easy. It doesn't even look too good either. In fact, with a couple good brushes, I'm sure you could make a better looking one by just fooling around... other than a step-by-step guide. Of course for people who don't know ANYTHING about Photoshop, I guess it the guides wouldn't be too bad for them to try out.
-
Looks pretty good. Especially for a first try. In fact, I'll give it a 9/10. You misspelled the word "what". Though... you probably meant to  .
-
Agreed. Don't copy & paste in PS. Just Right Click>>Save As. Simple as that. If you try that and it doesn't work, then I suggest hosting it at http://www.imageshack.us .
-
I like it. I like the image inside the image ( :? ), the abstract looking one that is blue... it's purtty. 8/10 for now. Nothing wrong with it from what I can tell (course I am a PS neeb at the moment).

I dunno exactly what style my new signature is. In fact, I don't even think it can be defined as any 1 style. Basicly I fooled around with about 3 or 4 different brushes (all default brushes), and came up with this background. I didn't think it was horrible, but in no way did I think it was that good. CC is welcome: As you can see, most of my signature end up looking about the same. It's because I don't have a clue to what I am doing when it comes to backgrounds. If I knew how to whip up a good grunge/abstract background like lots of people I see around here, I think I'd be pretty happy with the way my sigs turned out. Oh well. Rate if you want. It is my 1st try at a background (i.e not Filter>>Render>>Clouds  ), and my 4th ever sig.
-
Love it. Gawd dern, wish I was good with brushes/could find some good ones.
-
Well, since I am an A+ Newb with photoshop (for now anyways), I'm not exactly sure how to install them into Photoshop, if you even can. I suppose I could fool around with some default brushes, but quite frankly, I'm lazy :) . Thx though.

38 views, no help... I know 99.9% of the people on the media board are basicly experts with brushes (downloaded or not). Could someone please take the time to atleast direct me to a place where I can get help?
-
Sig looks great, to me. I don't much like those big cut outs on the left of it though :? . But whatever works for ya 8) .
-
Yes, it is just a buddy siganture. But I don't guess I can actually say much. The guy only has 4 posts (apparently new), and perhaps since he is "new" to the forums, means he just found out about buddies. Still pittyful, but I can't really complain, seeing as there is evidence which makes him look like he had no clue. :? .
-
Well, I downloaded some brushes. My problem is, I dunno really how to even use brushes. A breif walkthrough, or a link to a tutorial on how to load and use DLed brushes would be nice. Heck, I can't even get photoshop brushes to work. Lets say I start a new image. Filter>>Render>>Clouds (easiest thing to do). Now I go to Layer>>New>>Layer. However when I try to use a brush on the new layer, it doesn't work. Downloaded brush or not. Help plz? P.S - Made a new siggy. This time, is was actually for somebody. It is for another forum, and has nothing to do with RuneScape: (I was going to put scanlines on the sig {not the image}, but I didn't think it looked right)
-
What type font is that (Lea4Eva)? Just asking. Nice sig. Makes me smile and giggle, and fall out of my chair :? . 10/10
-
Thanks oh so very much everyone. So far, the Media Discussion board seems like something very helpful, rather than "oh meh gwad, you liek, suk@ cigz! that aint grunge, thatz crep!". I'll talk information I recive from everyone, and actually use it. Thx heaps. P.S - I wasn't sure oif it was really that gunge or not. Basicly, it is just a grunge preset (is that the word?), but I figured I'd ask for some help before I kept going.
-
Well, after seeing a couple "grunge" sigs, I figured I would attempt to make one myself. I didn't fool much with the coloring or anything, I just focused solely on making i look grunge. Please. CC only (if possible). I know it is quite basic, and probably isn't very good. I don't need to know those 2 very obvious facts. What would be helpful, is some advice/good techniqes and ways I can make it better.
-
Thanks everyone. I dunno exactly how to do much with backgrounds and stuff, I'll fool around with it mostly. I'd also like to ask how you "render" pictures. What I mean is, so there is nothing outside of the picture (everything is cropped out EXCEPT just the picture). Most pictures I find that I like, haven't been "rendered", and I dunno how to do it.
-
Hmm... good point. Now it is changed Lol.
-
Looks quite nice. I like it. P.S - I'm sure there are other, higher versions of PS off of Limewire. I got Photoshop 7.0 (with working serial #) off of there, so I'm sure there are others. P.P.S - It ain't legal, but it's cheap :? .
-
I looked at it. Nice sigs ya got there. Hopefully, I'll be able to do that in the near future.
