  1. Do I need to bring up your posts? Nope, both of them are tied together. You seem to be having a hard time grasping that concept. I though it was amply obvious, but apparently it wasn't to you. That's why I quickly informed you that that was indeed not what I meant (10 times, now), and you seem to be having a hard time accepting that. I see that you've given up on your previous argument. A little statement like 'sorry, you were right' would go a long way. Does this clearly mean you think I'm an idiot too? Yeah. Generally. ;) "Comp, stop putting up a front. We all know you're wrong, and I'm always clearly right. Search through the forums and find one time where I was wrong. I dare ya." ^^Gets annoying doesn't it? "I believe I said this" =/= "No, they can't."
  2. I would get Fletching, Cooking, Firemaking, or Thieving. They are all very easy, but Cooking and Firemaking are money losers.
  3. Oops. I meant outrage. Yes, they all have something on their heads that make them memorable (horn, halo, hair). Oh and what do you know? They all start with H.
  4. I'm not assuming you're an idiot. I wish to challenge your usage of the sentence, "No, they can't think carefully," and this was my goal the whole time. I'm not angry. You're assuming that you're going to be right all the time. This is a biased and unfair assumption. I can say that I always think I'm right too, but it does nothing to further my argument. Why else would we argue? I take issue with stalkers. Instead of just editing it in? What's the logic behind this one? Not fully mature - but he can still think carefully, be sensible, and be at least somewhat mature. This is all we were getting at.
  5. First time debater? I don't know what the point of your last post was, but anyways here is the definition of can: a. Used to indicate possibility or probability: I wonder if my long lost neighbor can still be alive. Such things can and do happen. In other words, he was just saying it's possible and you said it's not possible.
  6. This is an outrageous! Whatever happened to separation of music and state?
  7. No one said they always can. He just said that they can. Do I really have to post the definition of can? It means possible - it doesn't mean it will always happen. "Smoking can lead to cancer." "No, it can't." The second person is saying it can never lead to it, but the first person is only saying it is at least possible.
  8. We already covered how there is a correlation, but I also thought we covered how it doesn't make it impossible for kids to be sensible. Yep and I can say the same thing. This type of talk gets us nowhere. There are cases where adults act immature and children act mature. They do not completely depend on each other. There is only a correlation. I really want to clear things up, so I ask again: Can kids think carefully about something?
  9. This was my argument the whole time. You're the one who decided it would be fun to speak irrelevancies and use logical fallacies. One could say the same about you. I know your type. You're "right" even when you're wrong. Even with arguments that aren't relevant, you showed that you don't accept you're wrong even when it's obvious. I read the background but it doesn't even have to do with the background. He was saying that you are talking about physical maturity and that he was talking about psychological, but you still said no kids can't be psychologically mature. You were wrong! They can be! You should have agreed with him. Just accept that and move on.
  10. Which means there are cases where 10-year-old's can be sensible and think carefully - something which you have disagreed to. Children can exhibit psychologically mature qualities. You said they can't.
  11. That would be a nice witty little comeback, if I was only trying instead of actually succeeding at it. Nope. Kids can think carefully about stuff. Only someone who doesn't think carefully themselves would say otherwise. Oh what? Now you're calling me a liar? I think I know what I meant more than you do. (Sounds familiar huh  ?) Like I said several times, you're cherrypicking. You ignore the part where it says it isn't determined by age but you bring up the part where it says "the relationship is difficult" which means there is debate about it. Not necessarily that it exists. It's the same as the debate about god. Just because there is debate doesn't mean god exists.
  12. First of all, they aren't being added together. A = C and B = C. Thinking carefully is psychological maturity and responding appropriately is psychological maturity. Therefore, they are both the same in the sense that they are both parts of psychological maturity. Stop making flaming posts like that when you're the one who doesn't even understand this concept. Second of all, all you've proved is that you have a hard time with semantics and are oblivious to simple definitions and facts. Never admitting when you're wrong doesn't make you right, it just makes you prideful. Oh, and you're being irrelevant... Again.
  13. Then if it wasn't, specify instead of posting trash like that. It's not getting us anywhere in case you haven't noticed. But then again, I suppose you attempting to think logically in this debate hasn't gotten us anywhere neither. You may continue if you wish. I'll play by your rules: "Yes, that's exactly what I said!  " That was aimed at Jac. Just goes to show that you don't even read what's being posted. --- I guess I have to get back on topic for like the 5th time since you seem so set on posting anything that looks like a rebuttal. All that poster said was exactly what was quoted from Wikipedia. He said there are different types of maturities and that kids can even be mature. Wiki says maturity doesn't have to do with age. He was right, proof by Wiki.
  14. If you ever manage to prove yourself right, then I'll believe that you're a college student. But until then, that privilege is only reserved for those who understand what even constitutes as logic. Fare well, red herring fisherman.
  15. You're ignoring Wikipedia: not determined by one's age That proves my point even more. And you failed at reading anything I said. Put it in context, for the millionth time. It will come to you eventually, once you mature.
  16. You skipped over what I said about context obviously. Please put things into context before you cry about others taking things out of context. And how many times do I have to copy and paste for you guys to read one tiny thing: Psychological maturity =/= age Thinking carefully + Responding appropriately = Psychological maturity Thinking carefully + Responding appropriately =/= age
  17. Yes, he mentioned them both BECAUSE HE WAS TRYING TO POINT OUT THE ONE HE WAS TALKING ABOUT - PSYCHOLOGICAL - NOT PHYSICAL! Who said anything about them being inextricably linked? Either read what said about context, or don't cry about people taking you out of context. All I said was they are both psychological maturity.
  18. They are both psychological maturity which is the point here. If you disagree with one of them, then you disagree that psychological maturity exists.
  19. In the context we're talking about (psychological maturity), they are. They are both psychological maturity. Wikipedia points that out. Case closed. For people who cry about taking things out of context, you sure do it a lot. Plus I didn't even take things out of context. Comp said 10-year-old's can't be sensible and can't think carefully (can't have psychological maturity). I disagreed with him, and now I'm getting bombarded by attempts to justify his bad logic.
  20. They are but not "in and of themselves". In the context of maturity, they mean the same thing. Are you guys unconditional friends or something? Cause I'm seriously wondering 1. why you care 2. why you are making the same exact mistake he's making.
  21. No, actually you said, "No, they can't" to "kids can behave and think mature". Does denying what's right in front of your face really make you think you have any argument? This is a serious question. I want to know. Why do you contradict yourself so much? Why can't you admit one stupid little mistake?
  22. No I'm not. Stop accusing me of things I never did when you yell at me for "accusing Comp of things he never did". That's complete hypocrisy. By saying this you agree with me. I don't know what drives you to pretend like you don't agree with me.
  23. Read the whole paragraph: Maturity is a psychological term used to indicate that a person responds to the circumstances or environment in an appropriate manner. This response is generally learned rather than instinctual, and is not determined by one's age. Maturity also encompasses being aware of the correct time and place to behave and knowing when to act in serious or non-serious ways. See the end part? Ah! What do you know? Behaving (acting) and knowing (thought) what to do are both cases of psychological maturity!
  24. No, they are not. Stop making up your own definitions and go by the book. If you fail to comply to simple logic, then what is the point of reasoning with you people at all? Stop denying what the dictionary says. I could understand where you guys were coming from when things were cloudy and there were lots of misunderstandings. But now it seems like you guys are disagreeing just for the sake of it, as you're both denying what the dictionary says. There are not millions of types of maturities! There are two: physical and psychological. Stop making new ones up out of the blue just to make it seem like you have an argument. These are the psychological: Webster: based on slow careful consideration Wikipedia: Maturity is a psychological term used to indicate that a person responds to the circumstances or environment in an appropriate manner
  25. Whoa, where did you get "completely depend on" from? No one said that. Stop distorting. The article just says it isn't determined by age. Look at the Wikipedia and Webster definitions. They know what maturity is more than you think you do. Webster: based on slow careful consideration Wikipedia: Maturity is a psychological term used to indicate that a person responds to the circumstances or environment in an appropriate manner
