Personally I hated oranges. Traps failed way to often and then your also in the desert. I didn't discover chimchompas until I had moved onto reds. When I did find chimchompas I found a spot that seemed to work well for me. It was south of the fairy ring just north of a deadfall trap. It was positioned in between several chimchompa respawns. Just lay the traps out in a row, no need to space, bait or smoke. Once I got started I was busy keeping traps open. The nicest thing about chimchompas is that they stack so you don't have to worry about your inventory filling up and then releasing which slows you down. Oh and did I mention there not in the desert so no waterskins or going to find water to keep training? I don't know if they are actually faster than oranges (especially if you can only place three traps) but the fact that they are not in the desert is makes them a lot easier to train.

I used fire giants in the water fall from 65 to 70, it was averaging between two to three hours per level. Not bad money, plenty of safe spots at least in the small room, and there is usually only two types of people going there, players leveling there range, and people completing slayer taskings. I did do a slayer assignment of 148 blue dragons at about level 67 but found them to be much slower overall for experience, but a much nicer source of income (hides and bones) They also seem slower to kill which can cost you arrows. The dragons I was using were the ones in the ogre enclave which I like more than the member dungon blues as there are 5 in the enclave and only 3 in members. The down side is you have to use a nightshade to enter each time, but it's a small price to pay to not have to battle for dragons. The lesser demons in the volcano can also be an alternative as there are also a good number of range spots there, there drops are not bad and if your quick you can kill them in rapid succession. I ranged about 50 of them at level 70 (Slayer assignment again) and was coming pretty close to a thirty second turn around. I did those on a saturday, and while busy it wasn't so bad that I had to jump. Doing slayer assignments would also be a good way to build range exp while working on another skill. The big monsters tend to have some sort of safe spot and the small ones are weak enough that you should be fine with red d'hide. By all means don't assume that you can range everything in slayer but if you can't stand to train on one single monster for hours on end this could be a good way to get were your going. One final suggestion, do the new quest, animal magnetism. You get a back pack that not only gives +4 for range attack but it slowly makes steel arrows as you walk around.

A guide to ankous: one of runescape's best kept secrets.

Well the secrets out now, went there last night and everyone was crying that it was packed. There was actually more players than creatures at one time. Very nice spot, thanks for the heads up. -
===Range spots at Lesser Demons in Karamja Volcano!===
Esh replied to Rednik's topic in General Guides
whips out mage short and sets spec I came in by your sig link, you might want to consider changing that, It's kind of mis leading. This is about training one spot which, is not good for all rangers. Mages have a much larger range of levels that they can do lessers as they don't have to worry about picking up arrows, but they still have to worry about getting attacked until the lessers become non-aggressive. I would probably add a recomended level for rangers. Even though it is on the main range guide it still would be good to have the information in the guide rather than send someone searching. You totally left out the lessers farther up the trail. How can you do a guide about lessers of karamja volcano if you leave these ones out. Are there safe spots there and if so where are they? I won't go as far as to say you also left out the ones on crador island but as the only way to get there is through the volcano it would seem that they should be included. (Edit: went out the the main forum and saw the title was changed) It would also be nice to have the mini map up with your pictures to get an idea where you're actually at in the volcano. Some of the safe spots were hard to tell where you were, and I just finished a slayer assignment in that very spot. With all that said, it's not a bad guide, the pictures are a good size and the caption for each does provide some useful information. My personal opinion is that you should mage lessers rather than range them and this is a sweet spot to do it from. -
I say there not all that good. 50 hit points, 48 combat and what do they drop except baby dragon bones? If you're looking for straight experience then probably experiments would be better. If you looking to boost prayer then regular blue dragons (don't use the members dungon go to the ogre enclave) If you're looking for a good mix of fast exp and drops then give the fire giants at the waterfall a try. Thing is probably both blue dragons and fire giants are still over your head to range at this point effectively. My suggestion would be to bite the bullet and do experiments to your goal. Once you hit 60 both fire giants and blue dragons are pretty nice. But if you got your mind made up on baby blues, go have fun.

I used mine on the greaters in ogre enclave. non multi combat and there behind bars so you don't have to worry about people taking you drops.

Normally it's refered to as DDP++ not DD++ but that just spliting hairs. Everyone should know what you mean if you use either. You'll need to do the Lost city quest for the DD and then monkey madness for the Scimmy. Don't buy any of them from stores, go to world 2 and pick them up a little cheaper. D Scimmies are good for training as long as you don't train in control mode. If you train this way you might be better off using the D long but honestly I've haven't seen a lot of people train this way. The whip is a powerful weapon, the only thing that I don't like about it is that there just under 2mil for one. That pretty much puts it out of my reach. It would be interesting to hear what you have against them. But coming in as a new member, unless you got the money to buy a whip (I would say have at least 4 to 6 mil before considering buying one) do the quests and get the D scimmy with DDP++. Hitting 8 three times is always better than hitting 10 twice in the same amount of time. Plus the special for a DD combined with the best poison can take out a target extremely quick.

You might want to try Earth bolt till level 35 then switch to Fire bolt the rest of the way. Head over to the wizards tower and just start firing at that poor lesser demon in the cage, just take about 25 extra airs, 25 Laws, and a couple mind bombs if so you can telegrab anything of real value. You only need the mind bombs until your level 33 so I would only get one or two. You are going to need several thousand chaos (around 4300 to be exact your talking moving around 150K exp) runes along with three times the airs and a fire staff, but you don't need to buy deaths which can get expensive. I personally like the fire spells as they provide the largest chunk of exp for the given attack spell. An alternative would be to use teleport spells, start with lumbridge then falador, then Camelot (if your a member) as you only need laws and an air staff, water rune and fire runes. Camelot you only need the air staff so you see a lot of people training the Camelot tele once they are at that level. You can run laws (again only if your a member) on either world 66 or 99 to get laws but you'll need about 3000 of them. This is a good method if your trying to not to raise you hitpoints while training magic (Skill pure?). I like the attack spells personally but you can chose the path you want. Teleport would proabably be faster but firebolt and telegrab provides drops.

What I did was take a bird trap with me when I was in the desert. I placed it in between the two net traps I was running. Having to take care of three traps, especially one that you have to actually dispose of bones and meat (I keep feathers) didn't leave me any time to get board. Also since you still have two net traps the exp still rolls in fast. If I couldn't run two net traps I didn't train as it burned water faster than it was worth. I will tell you this the situation doesn't get any better when you move to red lizards(well you don't burn water so I guess it does get a little better), there is still to few trees and to many hunters. I actually went from 57 to 59 on black kibbits because I got so sick and tired of all the selfishness at the desert trees. I was hoping things would be better once I got to reds but I hit the same problems at red as I did at orange. As it sounds like you're getting tired of hunting right now it might be best to go and work on something different till the initial buzz dies down. I'm going to see how things are during the week and if things don't get better I'm going back to training for legends. I thought about butterflies combined with deadfall or box trap myself but the high butterflies aren't near the high deadfall or box trap. And exactly where do you get spicy chopped tomatoes?
-
Or you can do like everyone else and just go to the location that you get the fur and just pick it up off the ground. People are powerhunting right now so they just drop the furs. I had two spotted capes and a black gloves before I was around level 20. Spottier cape might be a little harder as it seems no one is training them right now but black and regular spotted can be picked up. BTW Spotted cape gives a -2Kg while wearing.
-
Yes I was wearing camo and no I was farther than four steps. Do I need to be closer? I've been raising my level on lizzards but it's to competitive so I'm going to try falcons now. I'll see if being closer to the trap works. Now I just want to know.
-
Like I said, I can set it and bait it but the trap is failing. I've been using the raw bird meat that can be found from the bird catchers drops but I wasn't sure when the guide said raw meat if that meant like bear or if the bird would work. I didn't think that it would be sucessful each time but when you go through a load of wood without one kill you start to look for what is going wrong. Now that I got my level up a little more I might go back and try it again to see if I was just to low of a level.
-
I'm having trouble getting the dead fall traps to work. I can set it up and I can bait it but each time a kibbit comes by it doesn't kill the kibbit. I've tried using different quality of logs up to yew and still get the same result. If you can help please because I know I'm not the only one having prolems. current hunting level is 24. Thanks
-
5 minutes for 38 exp dude your training hunter all wrong. I was to level 3 in five minutes and level 13 in an hour with Kebbits and weasels. Maybe the feathers are worth the extra time but at this point if I need these colored feathers I'll come back for them. To many bird hunters and not enough birds.

I like the two rocks at west Varrock myself. Hit one, then the one behind you and the first one is usually ready by then. East Varrock is good also but I found that the time spent running from rock to rock can cost you ore if some half way good miners are there just sitting on a couple rocks. With the West Varrock the only problem I get is you usually run into some level 15 miner that thinks he should be allowed to have one of the rocks because he can mine iron now. It can make for some colorful language but I usually don't respond until someone says they reported me. Which at that point it is always interesting to ask what you were reported for.

The price of dragon longs...can anyone explain?
Esh replied to Darkginger's topic in Help and Advice
Question.... and yes, you need to complete the quest, who would pay 200k, lets say, for something they can get for 100k at a store. You can sell them for like 110k if someone is desperate but not much more, and i usually see them for like 90k. Taking a tangent hear for a second but have you ever priced arrows or feathers? Feathers start at 2gp in the port sarim fish store. The cheapest I have found them for sale on world 1 is 5gp (normally 7-8). Arrows are the same way, more than what the store price is asking (I think the basic runes are to) The answer is convenience. Nobody really want to spend an hour in some store waiting for a feather or a rune to re-spawn to get a cheap price. With all that said, D longs are easy to get (buying off players not withstanding) a cut diamond is nothing when compared to the original price of a D long. The quest isn't all that hard and once it's over you can continuously go back and get as many as you like. Plus anyone that wants to use it has to do the quest so there isn't the demand like you see from Canifis robes with F2P. So just that would keep the price just above new cost. Now throw in players, people selling there D longs because they've moved onto a different weapon, people moving back to F2P, PKed them from the wild. More weapons then buyers means that they will never sell at cost on the street. If you didn't have to do the quest to use the weapon or if they could be used in the F2P worlds then they would probably keep there value or go up. But since they don't you have what we got now. -
Am I making the worst mistake or a genious plan?
Esh replied to pipp_killa's topic in Help and Advice
Magic bows are also out of the question FYI -
Like it's been said before, you give everyone a player ID that doesn't change (the player doesn't even need to know what the number is) and then link everything to that player ID even the friends and Ignore lists so that when Mymigtynoob changes to Dragoonluck it automacticly changes on the lists. You can also prevent scammers from using prevously dropped names by locking those names out for a period of time, say six months. Call it a cool off period. Inactive and banned names are off limits as well as names in the top 10,000 of RSC (but don't tell people this as they will just go to 10,001). Also put a 90 day limit on changing names, meaning that you can only change your name once every 90 days. As for the reputation bit, well that is something that has to be decided on by the player. Since no one is forcing you to change, you can keep your old name. For those of us that don't have much of a reputation this is not a consern.
-
I think what botanreaper was trying to say (or at least what I hope he was saying) is that it would seperate out the inactive players from the active players. My problem with that is just because someone retires doesn't invalidate there records. Lance Armstrong hold the world record for most consecutive wins in the Tour de France but should that record be thrown out just because he's retired from bicycle racing? Of course not, it still an achievement. Same with the records from RS players that no longer play. Now an idea I have seen done is a graduation date system. This is where you can look up the standings on everyone that entered the same day you did and see where you rank in that class (you could also toggle week month and year). The only thing that would have to be worked out is how do you handle the difference between F2P and P2P or even if you would distiguish between the two. But a graduation system would let people know how they stand with others that came to the game at about the same time and still doesnt' take away from the accomplishments of those that have played the game for many years prior. Reset the game, I wouldn't like it, I've found that people of the same level tend to migrate to the same spots anyways so there is a sence of community. Besides not everyone in a real community have the same experience or money so why should this be any different.

What kind of bow are you using? If you ain't using Maple you would be best to stop and go buy one. Stick with shorts as they have the same attack bonus as the longs but shoot a little faster, you'll give up some long range using shorts but 99% of the time you won't miss it. Also listen to what has been said here, take that helm off at the very least. Metal armor of any kind gives negitive bonus for range attack, the Coif also gives a little positive bonus for range attack so if you happen on one get it. Irons are fine for training but if your getting to many 0 hits you might be over your head. I personally use a twenty second rule. If I can't kill it with in twenty seconds then it's over my head for training. This allows me plenty of time to go pick up arrows and it keeps the exp per hour number up which is what you want if your training. P.S. use rapid instead of accurate, the extra shots make up for the loss in accruacy

How about a quest flow chart type of thing. Something that can pull your high scores and then high light the quests that you have the requirements to do. It would be setup in a manner so as you can easily see what the next quest is. You could also scroll over each and pull up the requirements and rewards for each quest. I've done something similar in Excel but would need a lot more experience with either Excel or some programming language to get it to work like I'm talking about.

I think it's a pretty poor idea at this point (very lacking in thought and very reactionary). You make the basic assumption that a PKer is interested in buying Nats. Just how many Abyss PKers do you see standing around alching stuff until you come along? I don't no personally as I don't mess with the Abyss but the one or two times I went in there I didn't see any. OK so let's assume that there is one and you got his name then what, you have to have a large majority of the RCers willing not to make a profit from a potential buyer which still doesn't stop someone from coming along and playing middle man (you could always say they're then paying a PK tax but now your getting into a lot of second and third level effects which some you might not find very pleasent say like the PKer actually targeting you now for spite). So lets go in another direction, lets say you got your list and you got about 200 names on it (I'm giving you the benifit of the doubt that once you get your list you will only have 200 names and not 2000). Now each time you conduct a trade your going to spend a minute looking over the list to make sure that this one person is not on the list. You'll probably end up losing the sell for taking to long. Then on top of which you have to contend with the fact that it totally legitimate for players to kill other players in this area. Let us also not forget that the Abyss is only one way to run Nats. You are not required to go though the abyss to do them. You accept the risk of going into the wild each time with the hope of making money faster than the safer but slower paths. If you wish not to get PKed then don't go there. Sell noted ess to the store, or use the bank at Shilo. I don't know what Jagex would do but if I was in there shoes and caught wind of a group trying to circumvent my rules I would throw out some ban. I'm not saying that this would happen but keep it in mine. You might want to check with Jagex to see what there position is. I would add that Tip.it does have a no name telling policy here so forget about a list being associated with them. With all that said, don't take this as a flame, take it as constructive criticism. Figure out the answers is to the points I made so that if you can/do go forward with this you get something workable.
-
I would say go down to the price check list and look for stuff that has a large variance between the low and high sale prices. Hopefully you have a knack for merchanting. If not your best bet would be to take evil eye's suggestion and skill your way up.
-
World 1 is also merchanting but for F2P. Varrock is the main city but you also can find stuff being sold in Draynor and Fallador East banks World 2 also good for the Shades of Mort'ton Quest

I started mining and smithing with the idea of making my own armor and swords. Now I realized that with a high non-combat skill set I will never have to worry about gp. I need some money for a quest or to speed train a lower skill, I just go and make cannon balls, mine pure ess, or even fletch some arrows(which btw makes it real nice to train range). There is always a way for me to make money now which makes things so much easier. I know some find it repetitive but I've never found it boring, I just move between a couple skills to keep things fresh. It also helps to have a dual monitor system so you can read guides and forums.
