  1. Starting Cash- 1 mil (at least) End cash- 1.1 mil  Just buy iron ores 100 each, sell them 110 each on world 1 during peak hours. If you have good sellers, count on an easy 100k every half an hour ~kam
  2. Theoretically speaking, freeplayers are just that, players who enjoy the content of a game for free. However, Jagex decided to expand upon that and chose to release a secondary version known as pay to play (members). Now members normally pay $5 a month. However, the costs are much higher using alternative payment plans. These extra costs are paid directly to the other company involved, not Jagex. So Jagex makes $5 per paying member, per month. With over 954,000 players on the fletching high scores, we get an estimate of 954,000 members. However, this number does not include those players with less than 30 fletching. Also, we are including players who may have stopped paying years ago. So a more accurate estimate of 940,000 paying members is thus achieved. Now 940,000 members translates to a whopping $4.7 million per month, or $56.4 million annually. Since Jagex has about 200 people working there, and we assume an average salary of $50,000 annually, this translates to an employee's cost of $10 million annually. :-w So what does the other $46.4 million become? Well, server maintainence, along with website maintainence could cost up to $10 million. So now we are left with 36.4 million dollars! This money is probably used to help Jagex expand, but of course, Andrew Gower might pay his employees a bonus. Now lets subtract 16.4 million for all costs, including those. So now we have $20 million dollars worth of cash. Jagex can always do things like a good Samaritan, and help those in need. They can do that by expanding the realm of freeplayers. After all, they do have an extra $20 million dollars a year! On top of this, Jagex is paid by various advertising companies for the advertiesements on the free worlds. So now we will be lenient and only place a cap of $12.5 million annually as profits from freeplayers. This is achieved through 2.5 million freeplayers earning Jagex $1 monthly. So in essence, freeplayers give Jagex some money! Although $12.5 million annually is futile compared to $56.4 million, it is still a large sum of money. Adding the freeplayer income to that of their "spare" cash, Jagex has at least 32.5 million dollars worth of money per year to waste. So why can't they use even half a million dollar's worth on the poor freeplayers? :wall:
  3. Let's put the essence change this way- MEMBERS can now benefit even further from a skill in which they had an almost complete MONOPOLY in! MACROERS were not an issue here, rather, just another excuse to attempt to remove another LINK between freeplayers and members. :wall: The problem that JAGEX created was that they offset the economy through the use of another form of essence. Why they did it Apparently Jagex just wanted to combat macroers, but if you look at this from another perspective, their reason was completely different. Before the update, essence was at a fairly stable market price of 30 gp, which was seemingly too EASY a moneymaker for F2P, according to Jagex standards. So to battle this, they created a new form of essence, to remove a link between the two versions of the game, and to create another big moneymaker for members. This was all done to lower the pleasure of playing on freeplay, since now, many more would become members for pure essence. What could be changed To battle the entire macroing issue, Jagex has one simpler alternative. Allow freeplayers to mine pure essence, although they need to make the requirements much higher. They ought to require a quest that needs a decent combat level, similar to dragon slayer. This would prevent many macroers from doing the quest. There would be a puzzle that is DIFFERENT for everyone, which would preven macroers from doing the quest. Next, a mining level of at LEAST 50 would be required, and an additional RUNECRAFTING level of 50 would be needed to complete the quest, which would be both freeplay and members. Thsi would allow a purpose for the runecrafting high scores, since only 128,321 people have 50 runecrafting (as of 7:58 pm EST on 1/16/07).
  4. I don't want to offend anybody, but this is simply a HOAX. Can't you see that there is simply no way a RuneScape player coudl be kidnapped in-game? The fact is that Tip.it is simply broke aftr the Christmas drop. :-w So now they constructively were able to create a situation in order to raise money for the next Tip.it event! =D> Well guess what, i support Tip.it's CONSTRUCTIVE method of raising money....instead of the old "I need money to host a drop party" sort of thing. So i suggest that everyone help raise some money to help our beloved Tip.it leader, before all is lost.
  5. So in essence, it all comes down to the question, time, skill. or money? Well to tell you the truth its all that. A fire cape demonstrates that you got over 7 million xp spread over each and every one of the combat skills, but a skill cape demonstrates that you got slightly more than 13 million xp in a SINGLE skill. The fact is though, to get a skill cape, you can simply SPEND 5 million gp to BUY the materials needed for you to GET level 99. Or, you could go the hard way and EARN it yourself. The skill capes, unfortunately, provide no way to distinguish between the two. A fire cape on the other hand, enable you to show others your skill in combat, and how great you are in combat. Having 7 combat skills at over level 70, is much more difficult than getting a level 99 in a single skill. The time you spent on training clearly outweighs the time you spent on a level 99 skill. So it only FAIR that a fire cape has better COMBAT stats, since you did work hard for it. A skill cape is not directly combat-based, and it is fair that its benefits are not so great in combat, but in the skill it was created for. \
