Allow me to clear up the sun issue for you guys: The sun weighs in at 1 solar mass... That means that it is a main sequence star. It also means that it BEGAN as the planetary nebulae- after sufficient contraction, it facilitated fusion reactions. It was created 5 billion years ago. Using standard formulas, the sun's age as the main sequence star is 10 billion years, which yields 5 billion years into the future... That'll be when it exits the main sequence, and runs out of hydrogen within its core. Then it's in a dilemma. Thus, gravity pulls it tighter, and it heats up, facilitating helium reactions. This will cause it to swell into a red giant. Once it runs out of all possible fuel, it will shed its outer layer (Not by blowing up, but by dispersal)... After which it becomes a white dwarf (which is basically the naked core), and after it's done... a black dwarf. And before all that occurs, we may reach the state of Armageddon on Earth- self- facilitated suicide. However, we will disperse- technology will lead us to colonise other planets, which may or may not facilitate our existence...

That's good then- at least no chance of identity theft..... (well, a minimised one) And the fact that AVG picked it up is even better... And would you mind posting a HijackThis log?

Main Forum Page Clutter (Moderator lists)
kam42705 replied to kam42705's topic in Forum Updates and Suggestions
Agreed. Thus far we have a (generally) unanimous consensus. -
It is... As a "100% F2P" myself, I'll agree with the above post- it's not an achievement at all... Quite honestly, it just says that you weren't willing to fork over the money, or you're too cheap. And I was the former...

With dragon- they both have their strengths, and are equally matched, relatively speaking.... With Adamant and Rune, it's definitely the scimitar Bronze-Steel- I prefer the longsword, although the Steel Scimitar is great too... Mithril- Either....

Main Forum Page Clutter (Moderator lists)
kam42705 replied to kam42705's topic in Forum Updates and Suggestions
Why not just have a thread which lists the forum's moderators? That would simplify things, and it's not link everyone needs to contact a mod all the time.... -
Fiction- the fact is that they NEVER have switched, on any major planet, without a rattling collision. And that collision won't happen, so I doubt the poles would switch... And Apocolyptic theories have been out since the beginnings of mankind- the year 1000, 1066 (William the Conquerer, anyone?), 2000, etc....

Every time one opens the index, a vast list of moderators is observed- mind you, these are forum-specific. Some have been extended to two lines, due to their vastness- some span multiple color ranges... The vast list of moderators (forum-specific), leads to unnecessary clutter, and does appear to be a nuisance.... Perhaps the list of moderators for each section ought to be posted as a sticky/announcement in that thread, with a compilation of all in another? That would greatly simplify matters, not to mention make the index page more navigable, and be more of an index...

Darwin- not at all.... And I've been considering dual booting with linux, but what I really want to know is how compatible are games with it? Because if I have to reboot just for that one game, etc, then it definitely isn't worth it....

If it was incomplete that meant it never finished downloading- then it shouldn't be a problem... The crashes seem to indicate something else though- did anything else pop up?

As long as the trojan was never run, then no... If it was- well, you may... In the future, tell your sister (and anyone else who DL's anything), to watch the file type in the limewire (or torrent software) window- it should say mp3, or another trusted extension- if it's blank or exe... just don't get it....

Yup... Freakin hilarious... Wish I had a copy of that... he actually knew how to write properly, which made it all the worse....

Possible locations for the 1% safe area?

Battlefields would be nice, but would require a huge amount of server space- maybe that may explain the increase in membership fees? -
Not to mention Obama's stance on healthcare- it is IMPOSSIBLE to offer every American free healthcare. Look at Britain, and tell me how it went there. The only way it can be offered in in tiers- one may pay a higher tax to get better benefits, and the funds are placed into a national pool from which insurers may withdraw from. This would lower the effect on individual consumers, but, of course, this MUST be limited to tax-payers....

Fasterfox- Obsolete now that FF3 came out- they still have to update it... if you have FF2, then use it- it really helps... If you're willing to mess with the about:config, go ahead, (only if you know what you're doing) [if using FF3] Better Gmail 2- Adds a variety of features into Gmail, only appears when you open your account with FF, and overall, it makes reading a lot easier... DownThemAll! - A download manager that somewhat speeds up downloads- it's relatively useful for me... Download Statusbar - A must have- places a little bar on the bottom of your screen, telling you the status of your downloads... Google Toolbar! - It's google, and simplifies things- personally, I use the embedded search in FF for wikipedia.... Morning Coffee - Basically, it puts an icon next to the Stop/Refresh buttons, near the address bar, and when clicked on, it'll open certain cites that you program it to. You can set some sites to open everyday, some on particular days, etc. (useful when you just turn on the computer and want to read your usual news, etc) Speed Dial- An Opera feature that's been integrated as an addon- it displays thumbnails of sites that you choose when you open a new tab, a blank page, or open FF, or as your homepage- very useful for 1 click access to your most viewed sites... Those are some of the best that I use right now, and weren't posted thus far.... '

Another great post by Archimage...

If all russia did was to expel the Georgians from south ossetia and abkhazia it wouldn't have been a huge deal but they invaded Georgia well beyond what was necessary. They captured cities that were no where near those regions. And russia should not have had "peacekeeping" forces inside Georgian territory to begin with. However, it wasn't Georgian territory- technically speaking, after the early 90's, Georgia in itself would rather the two territories have de facto independence- which they did. Georgian troops, however, attacked Russian forces that were attempting to maintain peace, as they have done for over ten years...

But the bow would burn too.... Then what? Why not just rub two twigs from the logs together? xD

What is the most stable medium in which to store gold?
kam42705 replied to tiggehdroih's topic in General Discussion
That is true, but the ever-slight fluctuations in the supply factor would change everything- basically, low prices, coupled with a slight change, and most of your wealth within the item yields major income fluctuations even if the price changed by 1 gp per. Not to mention that the stable prices means that you're better off keeping cash, since the price doesn't increase with inflation... Small changes in the supply/demand of raw materials affect their prices more so than inflation in this game, due to the relative intermingling of the community/worlds. Basically, you'd be better off diversifying, as the above post mentions, but to diversify, you'd have to liquidate first (File for bankruptcy protection! xD)... In diverisfying- always have a few ores/bars (preferably coal, runite, adamantite, iron) [price of these is the same, they're more of a benchmark for your wealth], fish (lobsters, sharks??) [perhaps], logs (yews and magic logs), bows (yew longs, hi-alchable), and perhaps herbs? You may also consider -
RWT is back and strong. How to combat it now?
kam42705 replied to eatrunearrow's topic in General Discussion
If you apply some economic principles here, as a fe have stated, Jagex is in a conundrum. However, there is still a bit more to it. The game's economy is very complex, yet the player base isn't. Previously, if you went by ANY f2p yew trees, there would be the autoers, the gold farmers, and the RWT's. Today, not as many... Their changes HAVE worked, even though those same changes alienated previous players (like myself). The game itself is VERY different from where it was 1.5 years ago- specifically the economy. Any more vast changes would alienate more players- a fine line has to be drawn somewhere. And sometimes, the best solution is to embrace it- I believe it was Sony's Everquest (or something) that embraced RWT, and it had a VERY stable economy- but it embraced it from the start. If Jagex began to embrace it now, though, it would alienate many players.... -
Throw in the wave spells, and the yew bow- not the rune arrows... and I'm an F2P myself.... Instead, throw in another type of arrow that is smithable from a material that is yielded from monster drops- except the monster used is available in the P2P servers only, and the monster itself is weak to magic, but has a strong ranged defense. That would yield cooperation between the two classes of players, and stabilise the economy, since the rune arrow prices would not skyrocket with increased demand...

What is the most stable medium in which to store gold?
kam42705 replied to tiggehdroih's topic in General Discussion
I've been inactive for over 1.5 yrs (from RS), and probably a year from Tip.it... but I did take a peek at the GE today... From what I understood of this thread thus far- we're plagued with inflation (well, RS always has), and you're searching for an item whose value increases with inflation? Basically, how, in the real world, certain items are immune to inflation, something similar to a bond? In that case, stay away from raw materials- supply and demand will remain a factor there. Also, stay away from anything low in price, as stated before. Try to look for something that has a relatively high, stable price- Party Hats did that previously... Nowadays, you'd want something that will always remain in demand, but whose supply factor will not fluctuate- no items solely taken by drops, high level skills, etc. If the above conditions are met, very few items remain, and it all depends on your wealth... Greater levels of wealth yield more expensive items, of course. Since I am not knowledgeable on current prices, I cannot state the items, but perhaps a bit of insight here may assist... -
Sarcasm's great- only the intelligent may decipher it... Which does wonders in-game, since not many have intelligence... Always brings a good laugh....

Some can classify me as being overly patriotic (American)... But I do sympathise with Russia here- Georgia provoked the Russians, by attacking Russian peacekeeping forces in non-Georgian territory (territory which was relatively independent, although unrecognised officially). Russia had every right to attack Georgia, and the Western Bloc went too far in placing the blame on the Russians- just because Georgia is an American ally does not grant it immunity... Nor does NATO membership cut it...

The problem with Obama is the fact that he's VERY weak on foreign policy/security. He simply doesn't have the experience to succeed. However, Mccain's stance domestically isn't great either... This is a close one, but I'll lean towards Mccain here- Nader cost Gore the election, and he should just stop trying.... And the rest of them... well... most haven't heard of...
