Which do you think is better, the Longsword or the Scimitar? Below I will compare the two in the dragon form.

 

Dragon Longsword:

Speed - 5

 

Strength Bonus - 71

 

 

 

Dragon Scimitar

Strength Bonus - 66

 

 

 

So as you can see from the top, the Dragon Longsword in exchange for 1 speed has 5 strength bonus, 2 slash, and some defensive bonuses. It can also stab with some effectiveness unlike the scimitar. Also for the specials. Dragon Longsword has it so that it does an increased damage to the opponent. The Scimitar has it so that it takes away protection prayors of your opponent (pvp only) for 5 seconds.

Also I would like to add that this isn't about how most people carry around a dragon dagger or a dragon battle axe for there special. I didn't make this thread to show exp rates or anything, I just wanted to know which one do you honestly think is better. (Kinda) Kind of like if you were stuck in (enter hard place here) With only one weapon, would you pick longsword or scimitar?

I will take a longsword over a scimitar any day. The only reason I use either one is the controlled fighting style, and longsword is far better for it. Otherwise, I am a battleaxe guy, myself.

i'm more a longsword person, the bonuses and special make up for the speed... although i'll spend time alternating between the two.

The longsword has more versatility since it has stab and slash, and a special that is pretty good. So I vote longsword.

As a general rule, faster weapons are better for exp, stronger slower weapons are better for boss monsters/pvp.

Well acording to the data. Longsword wins, and that's what i usually go for anyway.

 

 

 

Although scimitar is faster, it's only by 1. So speed doesn't give the scimitar much of an advantage. The strength of the longsword heavily outweighs the speed of the scimitar.

I'd have to say the scimmy because i train Str with it otherwise I never use it and since I have a w hip the long sword is pointless even for specials because i use the dds.

Out of rune scimmy or long sword id take the long sword, half the price just as good.

 

In dragon though the scimitar is a lot faster and all arround better weapon.

the whole thing is really personal taste. are you willing to sacrifice a tiny bit of speed for slightly upped stats and a special? or will you keep the speed with a chance of rendering them vulnerable if they pray?

Dragon Scimitar is the favourite weapon for strength trainers seeing as they are faster than dragon longswords but only lose a slight attack bonus. All in all the dragon scimy is still better :D

I use a longsword/whip because I haven't had time to get my skills up to do the quest :P Anyway, I'd choose the longsword looking at it this way, but there isn't much between them. Depends which gives faster xp per hour.

I'm getting a strange error so i'll put it down here:

the speed bonus of a scimitar doesnt justify it being weaker than a long sword, and the special is so-so

 

 

 

the dragon longsword has a better special and because of the new knight waves training, its versatility is more helpful

Everyone who says longsword has obviously never compared exp rates. Scimitar crushes longsword.

 

 

 

For everyone who says longsword for controlled, you could just use scimitar on accurate, then scimitar on aggressive, then scimitar on defensive to get the same amount of exp in less time.

 

 

 

Of course, I just use a whip on controlled all the time, instead of using a whip for attack and defense, then scimmy for str like some people do. :roll:
