Hi there, I'm Triforceelf and I've been playing RS on and off for at least 6 years now. I am currently looking for a friendly fun clan that doesn't focus to heavily on PKing or warring. I prefer events, fun parties and maybe a clan that would teach me how the heck to do dungeoneering right. Silly facts about me *Favorite skill: Mining *Least favorite skill: Construction *Favorite minigame: Stealing Creation *My time zone is Arizona time (GMT -7)

I am wondering what people use in manage thy kingdom for pure profit. After reviewing prices, coal seems to be straight up the easiest way, but do other areas make up for it with their random seeds/nests/caskets?

After taking a two year break I have decided to come back to RS, after originally starting an account back in 2004ish. I enjoy many of the RS mini games, my old favorites were barb assault and pest control. I am looking for a clan that does many different activities however, such as skills, parties and just hanging out. I prefer a mature clan that has a laid back environment. I work long, shifting hours during the week and my schedule can change rapidly, so a clan that is a bit forgiving if I miss events due to work is preferred. I personally was never big into PVP and have zero experience with the new system, but I am willing to give it a go. I have been trying dungeoneering, and have decided that I think it would be a good clan activity, but puging it seems to be an exercise in frustration for both the newbie (me) and the experienced players (everyone else). I really like skills, especially smithing and crafting. Recently I have been getting a kick out of farming and hunting as well.

I hate this whole stupid skill. No one I have grouped with has done anything but bellyache and go "LAWL FROOB" even when I specifiy that I am a noob and am not a master dungeoneer. You think I would be looking for floor 4 or under if I was GOOD at this? Why the hell anyone tries to do this is beyond me. Its not worth the pain and arrogance you get.

So, after randomly deciding after some bouts of insomnia and kidney stones that I should give Runescape another go, I log in to the nice message of "Its been 800 some odd days since you last played!" After some scrambling I remembered my bank pin and did the dwarf poet quest. Now I am basically totally lost. There are two new skills (The last skill I remember well was hunting) that I don't understand, and a bunch of new mini games. I also noticed that I have about 10x the number of hit points I remember having. Am I a God now, or did the kids just want to see BIG NUMBERS? Anyway, what I am really wondering is what exactly is there to do now? Which mini games are the highest rated, which skills are the most fun to do and what quests are the most entertaining. I have decent skills (obviously other then summoning and... dungeoneering?) so most any quest is open to me, though I have done the Legends quest and all related quests. Is dungeoneering and summoning important/fun? Thanks for any input advice or sanity counseling.

If you continue to do this then it is possible that you will be banned for abuse of the Report system. Jagex not only keeps an eye on just the reports, they also keep an eye on who is doing the reporting. I know of at least one person who had a temporary ban for this. I do agree with the author that RS players are getting too paranoid about bots (or whatever you want to call them). I also agree that combat level is not a good indicator for characters and should be replaced by something else, or even nothing. After all the only time you need to know someones combat level is in the Wilderness. The display of combat level is a throwback from RSC where combat was possible almost anywhere. IMO there should be no displayed level for characters (except for combat in the Wilderness), instead we should have the ability to "click" on a character to display ALL their skills and levels. This would make the detection of bots by players easier, ie some one ranked in, say woodcutting, but nothing else is a very good candidate for a botter. A couple things: I realize that Jagex keeps track of improper reports. Thats why you should only report if you are at least reasonably sure the person is a bot, not just because they wouldnt talk to you or are doing funny things, but because they do it for an extended period of time. And secondly, people need to remember that not everyone bots for profit. Some people bot just to do menial tasks like spin BS even if they have lots of skills in the highscores. Its certainly not as likely that Vickgutter combat 97 is a bot as Bksx9827 combat 3 is, but it can still happen.
-
Not everyone who reports bots is a wanna be mod. I notice that your all saying reporting people for not talking is bad, but whats the solution to not reporting? I have not even the slightest interest in being a p mod. Infact if it was offered to me, I would likely turn it down because I am not always interested in helping/being polite to everyone. But I still report bots (or people who appear to be them) because I am sick and tired of RS being filled with bots stealing legitimate players resources. So quite telling us not to report unless you have a bright idea as to how we can help be a solution to the bot problem without ever reporting anyone.
-
And what if their muted? Or what if they don't wanna talk at all? Wow. The Nerve of some people. Then I make an honest mistake. Its not my fault if your muted, and its your deal if you don't want to talk. I don't report people just because they don't talk to me, they have to be doing something in a very similar manner over and over again. Granted plenty of legit players do this, but so do lots of bots. No one denies that bots are a big problem, and the only way the average player can combat bots is by reporting someone. If you have a better idea about how to get around reporting people who act like bots, lets hear it.

I think the argument for 99 hunter being the easiest is pretty valid, since it is a skill that can be done by anyone no matter what there level, and experience gain is fairly rapid. For 99 cooking and fletching you need to start off with a goodly supply of cash to do it well, for 99 hunter you don't need much money at all, and you can even make quite a pile without having to get any bowstrings or cooking ingredients. The argument for 99 construction being easy is only relevant if you take money out of the equation. It is NOT easy to get all the money required for 99 construction, or all the long bones or to mine all that lime stone or whatever cheap material your going to be using. The 99 construction cape is pretty uber, since not that many people have it and it is a very expensive (and therefore time consuming) cape to get. However, if you assume you have an unlimited supply of cash, construction is definitely the easiest to level. No other skill has the massive exp per hour gain. Once you get the ball rolling you can get full inventories of planks to your house in almost the same amount of time it takes for you to make all the flatpacks.
-
I think your encouraging a bad idea. If you want to be silent, then brush off the comments. However, I will continue to report anyone who does not engage in conversation with me while doing a task that is easily botted, especially if they have a low combat level. Of course I am going to report some people who really aren't bots, but hopefully I get a few bots banned.

Has anyone ever killed the strange plant?
Triforceelf replied to Yohbilleh's topic in Questionnaires
You cant kill it, you cant even hit it. It was designed that way. Its the same as the swarm. Admittedly you used to be able to kill both with poison. -
Go out and play a couple differnt MMO's by no means do WoW and RS have a monopoly on the features you have chosen, especially the duel arena. I dont even KNOW of an MMO with PVP that lacks a dueling feature.

items harder to sell now? or just a hype?
Triforceelf replied to ixfd64's topic in General Discussion
+1 Its true, everyone is dumping, no one is buying. Well not no one, but not that many people. Certain markets move well, but most dont. -
I have a secreet for you: almost any add on the internets contains some sort of spyware or cookie in it. I wouldnt say all of course, but a hell of alot of them. Some are malicious, others are not. Run frequent through virus scans to destroy any you do pick up.
-
I think its a good thought, I myself have some eggs and am still wondering what on earth they are for.
-
I once got a black mark almost four months after I "committed" the crime. I got a black mark for linking to a gold selling site, which was actually my clans website, and I was shocked that Jagex would give me one for something that happened so long ago! Fortunetly I got it revoked, but I feel your pain for the unjustness of these marks.
-
That is a major overstatement. There plenty of healthy markets were it can take a very long time to sell something. Even on very healthy housing market it can take several weeks of listing to sell a house, and the less desirable (or expensive) the house the longer it will take to sell it. The same is true with alot of other speicalty real world items such as collectables: you have to find the right buyer, and that takes time. Also, if you have a surpluse of an item it becomes a buyers market, where everyone can buy low (even if its only 5% low) and still have their needs met. The same is true of the GE: lots of people are dumping items right now, over time it will slow down. But even then i dont think calaquat seeds will sell in 5 minutes.
-
They are still working the kinks out of the GE, give them a week or so before it runs really well.
-
Sit back and take a deep breath. Sure the market controls are annoying (kinda) but it does makes sense. I personally would have them removed, but for now they work just fine really. I had 10k BS up at max price for a very long time, but when they started selling they all sold very quickly. The GE is a first come first served deal, the longer something is up the higher up in the buy que it is. I know several people who have sold calaquat seeds to use your example, it just took them a really, really long time. The only thing that annoys me about this update is the shops reflect the GE, which destroys buying things from shops cheaply, but oh well.

Effects Of The Coming Update "Great Exchange" On The Economy
Triforceelf replied to klankaos's topic in General Discussion
Well, now the the GE is out I thin we can say that more then anything else it will be a stabilizing factor in the economy. Prices will no longer fluctuate rapidly and for the most part merchanting is dead. But IMNSHO thats a good thing. -
To all those who think that the GE will ruin merchanting: I hope your right. Merchanting has become a disaster, and with the GE most if not all merchants will be shut down. I am tired of people trying to manipulate prices, or trying to rip off people who dont know any better. With the GE even a moron can get an easy price check on an item and then buy or sell it for a reasonable price. Huzzah!
-
This is the best update since RS 2 came out! maybe even better then THAT!
-
I think it makes sense to have the fire cape be more combat oriented then the skill capes. After all, you dont really have to do any combat to get most of the skill capes so why would you have massive combat bonuses? Though at times (like when you need prayer buffs) I would see the skill capes as being more useful. Kinda.

Ahem.... New thing for next year is summoning...
Triforceelf replied to Goldenjkered's topic in General Discussion
Dude, I cannot believe they are actually making this. Of course, now people are going to whine about it. Sigh. I hope its good, but if not meh. -
Curing the Disease by Killing the Patient
Triforceelf replied to qeltar's topic in General Discussion
At least read the entire thread before posting. Qultar, I have to say you made some terrific points and this is one hell of an essay. Jagex should get over here and read it now. I did read the whole thing, and the truth or not Qultars comparison left a bad taste in my mouth.
