NJE03
Many of you remember not long ago there was a problem where certain ads on Runescape would potentially result in a trojan virus. Well when I opened the Runescape Client today to play Runescape this is what it took me to: Surely if I were to click the icon labeled "Erase threat" I would have gained a virus. Of course I had the common sense not to click it, I proceeded to close it and run a scan. I can also confirm it... I got the same thing yesterday :ohnoes: I can confirm too. It popped up in the middle of a the game, while I was fighting an evil chicken... Lived with 2 hitpoints :ohnoes:  The exact same thing happend to me two days ago. it got me lol. Luckily my mcaffee then detected it. I accidentally clicked it, but i was able to find the virus. My virus scanner said i couldnt delete it so i had to do a complete and total go back. A lil too late for me but o well thanks for posting :) [spoiler=Stats:]Updated December 22, 2011: Total level - 1442 - 170M+ XP , Combat level - 115Combat skills: Attack - 90, Defence - 99 (24.45m+ XP), Strength - 90, Constitution - 99 (16.42M+ XP) Ranged - 99 (13.32M+ XP), Prayer - 60, Magic - 99 (13.25M+ XP)Non-Combat skills: Cooking - 99 (13.80M+ XP), Woodcutting - 99 (31.95M+ XP), Fishing - 90, Firemaking - 99 (24.82M+), Crafting - 90, Smithing - 90, Mining - 85, Runecrafting - 60, Dungeoneering -

WookieeMania12
Quit trying to scare us. Apart from a picture, there's no solid evidence that there is truly a trojan in the ads. And even the picture doesn't reference that the trojan was from an ad. If I see people apart from you admitting that this problem has occured again, then I'll believe. Who knows if you've been looking up porn and encountered a trojan. Also, use the report ad feature. Although I do not click them, I do not block them either as I believed it was against the rules. After this has happened I think my computers safety is more important than any rule and will have to look into an ad blocker. EDIT: I forgot to mention also that I cannot report the ad because I was taken directly to this site and therefore do not know what ad it was. Any other recommendation? All_Bogs
Judging from the picture.. You came across an advert of the kind "lolz i take over ur browsers!!" and were redirected to a page for some crappy product called MalwareAlarm. The website displays some bull about your system which are with 99% probability flat out lies, in order to try and get you to install said crappy product, along with all the spyware it contains. (not trojans, spyware) So as long as you don't buy it and install anything, you'll be fine. It's a bad advert nonetheless, and should be reported. Imagine this one popping up while you're out there in the f2p wilderness

fastknight20
Runescape is safe, but the adds aren't, so why lead people to believe that Runescape, the game, isn't safe with your title?
McGuff1
A friend on mine got infected with this MalwareAlarm program from a Runescape ad. llcoolguy972
Sorry, but I don't give a damn. Apparently you gave enough of a damn to post. You handled this a lot more logically than I would've. I probably would've freaked out and closed the client. :P Runescape is safe, but the ads aren't, so why lead people to believe that Runescape, the game, isn't safe with your title? Who knows if you've been looking up porn and encountered a trojan. Oh come on, have you ever herd of a ligitamate anti-virus that runs as a pop up. popups are caused by programs on your computer, a class of virus on their own. Many viruses create fake security warnings to try and get you to download an antivirus program thats just a much bigger virus. Now since thats a popup, it is in no way related to runescape. Thats a problem with YOUR COMPUTER, not a server. So we arent at risk, but you need a spyware scan.
