Temporary lack of penguins
Turns out Jagex has already started working on it today. My friend had sent in an appeal and he says his account has been unbanned now! \ I wonder if this is because there was no evidence he did anything wrong (which he didn't) and that he had no former blackmarks. EDIT Found this Mod Post QFC: 15-16-495-58313867

Temporary lack of penguins
Almost everyone including my friend who did penguins before glitch was fixed is banned now. They have to wait till Feb 2 for further investigation. So unfair because many of these people including my friend couldn't even use the glitch or were smart enough not to. Hopefully they'll see their mistake and get rid of his permanent ban. :(

An Essence of Skills Divided
^ It created a very good debate on skills that loose money vs. skills that gain money.

Temporary lack of penguins
A temporary ban would be useless because after a while they'd just get their accounts back with little to no loss. I think it should be a perm account ban but not an IP ban. They should have every right to start over and do everything the hard way from scratch.

Desert Treasure
After much putting off and procrastinating I've decided to finally do it. Couple of quick questions before I start. How many prayer pots should I bring for each "boss"? What would be a good setup if I'm maging against them?

Temporary lack of penguins
I interpreted that as "10% more people have gained 99 rc then on a normal day". Doesn't seem all that much to me off from the average to me. However, that vid showed how much is was abused, so I'm not really sure. Could it be done in every world, or was it only on one? Because if every world was as busy as that vid, maybe 10% more people have 99rc indeed. Owh and of course they should all be banned and all that blah, but I didn't feel like creating a post just for saying what everyone has said before me already. What I meant earlier in this thread is that 10% more people got 99 runecrafting than there originally was. So if originally there was 1000 people with 99 rc there would now be 1100 people with it; a 10% increase in just one day. Runecrafting is a hard skill to train and 100 people in one day is just insane, even if they already had like lvl 91 rc.

Temporary lack of penguins
[hide=] That's good news. I wouldn't mind if it took therm a month as long as it was taken care of. Do you have the QFC? Here is the QFC for that thread: 15-16-759-58307528 That post was on page 24. I do hope that the bug abusers get banned. This is extremely annoying...... -.- Also, Mod Poppy... .... [/hide] Rofl

An Essence of Skills Divided
That's what she said. :D OT: The only thing that I dislike about some skills in Runescape is that you can take raw materials, do something with them, and you lose money. You are spending time doing something, so why should you lose money? In real life, taking raw resources and creating a product usually makes you money, not lose it. Some skills to name are smithing, crafting, herblore, etc. Other than that, I like almost all the skills, except farming, it is soooo boring to me... :wall:  I see your point on how when raw materials are made into something it should profit. The only way to do this though would be to introduce another way to get these raw materials faster, or at least more of them in the game.

They better be banned or have xp taken away. Another Mod post btw. Looks like Jagex might be taking the correct approach at this.

Temporary lack of penguins
1. I found out about this today as well as how the glitch worked but by then penguins were gone (I wouldn't try the glitch anyways) 2. According to my friend 10% more people got 99 runecrafting today then there was to begin with due to the glitch 3. Countless other 99s were achieved because of this 4. Penguins have been taken out fixing for a while 5. So far the people have been able to keep their xp Jagex better either rollback all xp from penguins or doing something else about it. It's entirely unfair that these people took advantage of a glitch to cheat there way to a 99. Like people before be it also disgusts how unmoral people are. I would really prefer these people weren't banned because some may have gotten the glitch as a mistake and it wouldn't be their fault. I think the best option would just be able to somehow take the xp they got back. Maybe a rollback for all accounts that got more thank 100k xp from the glitch? If not then they should be banned for breaking the rules.

An Essence of Skills Divided
I actually was thinking about the same when I made this thread but I thought there really wasn't much to debate so I used it for this topic anyways. I really should change the title though. Maybe "An Essence of Skills Divided"?

So, how old are you guys?
15 right now but I'll be 16 in a couple of weeks =]

An Essence of Skills Divided
then why even make this thread? Also, you need to stop arguing with people who have clearly bested you. Er what I meant was let's say in reality there were abyssal demons and mithril dragons. Why should abyssal demons who are substantially weaker need more knowledge to kill than a mithril dragon? But I've allready been convinced that slayer is a good skill so I'm not going to argue otherwise. ---- As for magic, while it's really hard to profit from it is still a balanced skill that fits in with everything you do in Runescape. Another one of the best skills in the game. The one thing I noticed about skills that profit is that the materials gathered are always used on a skill that looses money. Basically Jagex is making it more of a "breaking even" game where you have 50/50 for spending and making money. I just think it should be more easy to make the money than to use it on another skill. If you were to level every skill to level 99 using only money you made from the skills you trained would you profit, break even, or run out of money? If you profit then most skills in runescape are balanced, if not then there needs to be a new money making skill.

An Essence of Skills Divided
I guess its just the element of having to kill different monsters to kill another monster that seems pointless to me. But since Runescape isn't reality it doesn't really matter in the long run. It's not the best skill ever but it certainly does have its uses. Being able to kill dozens of different monsters shows that you have the ability to fight different foes in many environments and situations. Also kind of entertaining too. Guess you won me over. : Nothing is as useless as firemaking though and glad to see that nowone disagrees with that. =P

An Essence of Skills Divided
I can't argue with you that the drops are great if you get lucky, and I do love and use my whip for everything. However the point is the skill is just telling us what to kill. These monsters could be used for non-slayer but just because the skill exists they have a requirement to kill them. Basically its telling you that you have to kill x amount of monsters before you can slay this beast. I mean what does that accomplish? Practise makes perfect? As soon as you get lvl 85 from killing thousands of monsters you are suddenly ready to kill the greatly feared Abyssal Demon, a monster that is not even as strong as a Mithril Dragon which has no slayer requirement? It just seems unnecessary to me. Even though it is kind of a cool skill like firemaking and thieving it just needs more of a purpose in my opinion. Well this was supposed to be about all the skills so I'll end my little thought on slayer there. I'd have to agree about summoning though. Sure many people hate it due to affecting your combat level and think it's a waste of time but in reality it adds something on to almost every skill and fits into the game really nicely. One of the best skills next to construction in my opinion. However a downfall to construction, summoning, and even prayer is that is costs so much. It would seem more balanced if it didn't use up every gold piece many people have. It shouldn't be a cheap skill though, just not as expensive as it is now.

Crafting Advice
Ok I actually realized that getting my crafting from 63-66 will take me less than an hour with a 300k loss (max) using dragonhide bodies. I guess I'll just do that because I can make that money in one hour of runecrafting.
-
Crafting Advice
Hmm thanks for the advice everyone. I don't think I will do green dragonhides because I can't make a ton of money an hour and I'd prefered not to spend that much. However the jewelry recommendations sound pretty good. Do I need to have Summer's End done though to sell to the Rogue for GE min or wil people actually by the end products? PS: I liked the guide duncmac gave me some ideas on what to do and was helpful.

An Essence of Skills Divided
To the date there are 24 skills in Runescape, 8 of them being combat. While each skill is unique in its own way there is always people who hate it and people who love it. Some skills like prayer, cooking, firemaking, and fletching are disliked because they are "buyable" skills. Other times a skill is thought to be a "noob skill" because too many people level it. Sometimes skills are respected for being long and hard and other times hated for the repetitive tasks it gives you. Several skills like firemaking and slayer are useless in a way because leveling them really offers you nothing new. Sure you can burn a new log but there needs to be more incentive for some skills. What I'm really getting at is what makes up a good skill? You can't please everyone but for a skill to be truly satisfying for the majority of the runescape players what should it have? Should it cost money or make money? Should it use many other skills or be a stand alone one? And most importantly how fun is the skill? These are all factors in many skills but what is a good guideline for all skills? Maybe if we can decide that ourselves Jagex will be able to fix the old skills and make new ones good for everyone.

Crafting Advice
I need to get my crafting to 66 for Rocking out and I was wondering: What is the cheapest way to lvl crafting? What is the fastest way to lvl crafting? What is the most cost efficient way to train crafting? Any help would be great.

Quest 150
Perhaps a stand alone quest that has a new storyline, or one like Recipe for Disaster which doesn't relate to other quests and is a one quest series? Or maybe it has something to do with the Varrock Museum and sailing to that Island they keep talking about.
