  1. Hey guys have a question if anyone knows, since construction currently isn't available, what happens if you do a quest that gives construction xp? Or are these quests not available yet either? It's not that I'm currently planning to do quests that give construction xp, but just curious ;)
  2. I know you're just trying to be helpful and anyone would probably be able to find out that info, but I feel we should really encourage people to not trade between games as it defeats part of the purpose of the fresh start. And it also takes away hard work from those who just play the main RS game too.
  3. @Short Term Gain, Long Time Pain 1. Comparison to Classic: Firstly, you can't directly compare to classic. Many more people actually played during 2007 than the classic days, and secondly this is an earlier version of RS2, the current version of RuneScape. Classic is a whole different dynamic. (also classic didn't get over 350k votes asking for it to come back). 2. It will be different than you remember: I'd like to say I thought this would be the case, and it would be good. It won't be exactly the same as you remember and that's what will keep you playing. However, I expected it to be quite a bit different than I remember, but it's actually very close to what I remember and I love it. Yes the nostalgia is great, but it's definitely not just that which makes this so appealing. Yes there are updates that happened later that I love and will miss, but it's still a lot of fun the way it is. I'm having a blast working my way through content that I haven't played in 9 years! It's great to take in content that was only used once and play through again, all the quests, working my way through low level content. It's giving life to this old content and I'm liking every minute of it, the nostalgia, the fresh start, the new economy... I can see myself playing for a while (I have so much already I can't wait to do). 3. Lots of bots in RS: Jagex will likely use their new bot tech in the servers, but looking at current Runescape shows how successful that is. There will likely be lots of bots in Main RS and old school RS. So it's not like there's much choice here? Also you keep mentioning a screwed up economy with weird supply and demand. How is this screwed up? The economy is just starting and it whatever it evolves into won't be screwed, it will just be different from main RS. How is this a bad thing? I love the whole idea about it, I find it to be refreshing (one of the differences from not being the same as I remember, but this adds to the longevity of the servers I'd say). 4.Most players that return will leave: I definitely think there will be a lot of people who leave soon after, but I'm not so sure about most. Since these servers don't cater everyone 100% I don't think anyone is expecting all people who voted to stay long term. Onto your negative points: 1. Splitting community: Yes it likely will to some extent. But since you seem to be so sure it will fail as mentioned by the other points, the splitting of the community would be very minor in that case. So I don't see a problem. It will be a big split if it's successful or a minor split if it's not. 2. Take Jagex considerable time: Well not really, they got the servers up and most big bugs fixed in just less than 2 weeks of development with a small team. There is still more work to be done, but it will be fairly quick, and with only few people. Nothing to worry about here. Also I realise this was written before it actually came out so I understand some of this was just speculation.
  4. Thanks for the positive feedback about the eoc gp trading, good to see others feel the same way. I wish Jagex disallowed it, but I see why they left it open, it would be too much to monitor. I have no idea but I'd hold onto it for now, and just check the marketplace forums from time to time. Im sure when people start getting 80 crafting there will be huge demand for it. Hey mate! I remember when you came back in 09/10 and we talked and played together, I hope to see you in-game! :)
  5. I got a lvl 1 clue, and found a white beret. Someone offered me 30m EoCscape money for it, but since I have no need for it I ended up selling for 23k. I feel rich, hopefully that was a good deal (most people were offering around 15-20k for it).
  6. It almost annoys me that most people don't bury bones!! Almost because it gives me more prayer xp ;)
  7. It's working fine for me. And just found a palm tree seed! Boo-yeah! Only problem is people wont have money to pay a lot for it, nor do they currently have the farming levels! :( I LOVE THIS :D
  8. I am really enjoying this, it's definitely more than just nostalgia :)
  9. Well going by RS twitter looks like it could be coming as soon as the next hour or so. I wish it was coming later, since I'm about to go to bed. Oh well, will just wake up early like the old days lol ;)
  10. Of course it is. Sure at first, when the next gen consoles come it might be all fine and dandy in terms of specs, but as the years go by and the as the console hardware stays the same, then it will become relevant again. It's a cycle that was made obvious with the current gen consoles. And what exactly do you mean by better? Without even looking at the specs, one might consider the freedom and the many options PCs offer is "better" than console (and I mean that for both the hardware and software side of things).
  11. Yep will be very cool! Since the hiscores will be the same as it was back then, that means you'll need 30 to get ranked for a skill. Does anyone remember the total level you needed? They said in Q&A that the high scores will start at level 1. Peace, Vann What? Really? I thought I read that they were bringing back the old hiscores and having it just the way it was? I guess it's not a big deal, but still.

  13. Oh, right, trimmed. Forgot about those. Hmm, could you still got normal glories as well? I think you are way off, after a week we'll see skills in the 90s. I wouldn't be suprised if some people got those levels in less than 24 hours. with an established economy sure. I rated it low because of the complete lack of an establishment. Anyways I'm thinking about making a thread for that topic. I understand that, but skills like wc will still be trained pretty fast, and even though some people say that there will be no rune axes, that's not completely true. I remember getting lots of rune axes from the random events, and they will be more common than some people think (though saying that, I'm not saying they will be widespread common, but it only takes a few in the right hands to get those fast levels). Skills like herblore, they will definitely start out much slower for the majority, however, I still believe that some people will find ways to level up fast. Anyway I'm not trying to say you are wrong, I like to see people estimate (even they I think they are way off). You could be close to some of the harder skills like herblore, but I can guarantee that woodcutting will be far past 65 in a week. And we're talking about those committed to going for rank 1 in these skills, it will be very competitive. And of course the fun is not knowing exactly what will happen. From the Q&A it sounded like it's happening sometime on Friday night GMT, but who knows.

  15. crafting for glories yes. But black d'hide like rune will be from clue scrolls early on. I think you can get glories from treasure trails too, but they wont become common until people start reaching 80 crafting.
  16. Yep. Keep them for the next skill tbh. (They may prevent using such xp lamps on the next skill for several weeks after release though.) Actually it is more usefull when you are higher leveled! "It takes 21 dragonkin lamps to level from 1 to 2, while it only takes 27 to level from 98 to 99." Well duh. Pingouin didn't say "Use them on the new skill as soon as you can, starting at level 1!". You would assume the OP would have actually trained the skill up past level 1 in the first place by the time that they remove the Lamp etc xp camp on the new skill. Well regardless I don't intend on using it on the new skills. Since I'm planning on playing 2007scape I won't be playing much RS and I think I just want to get rid of these asap. Since I'll be an RS member for the foreseeable months, I will want to try out the new skills (many years ago nothing sparked my excitement in an RS update like a new skill!). But are they fairly easy to get people to assist with? I remember before I left it was so hard so I gave up and started collecting them.
  17. At first I assume people will only be alching with nature runes they get themselves, not from buying, because you'd just be losing money. I'm curious about what people think will be the first skill to get 99. Back then the most common were like attack, strength, fletching and cooking. But obviously fletching and cooking will be slow to start off with, and people wont be able to buy all the resources straight away. I was thinking possibly hunter? (has decent xp per hour, and even when hunter first came out there were those who were able to get 99 in like a week, even with all the hunting spots contended!). I wanna know what others think! :)
  18. Sold this before I left in early 2011, I found out it's like only 1M now :) Also apparently you can only hold a few effigies at once now? Got a bank message telling me I can't get anymore!
  19. Someone asked Jagex in the Q&A if they could have a few f2p worlds (still members only, but act like f2p), and they said they thought it was a good idea, it sounds like it will be an option. I meant that it wasn't an option because I would have to pay $10+ each time I wanted to create a new account for 07scape, didn't even think of that lol. Ah right, I was thinking that might be what you meant after I posted, oh well ;)

  21. I'll give my take on it. Yes, the poll was more of a publicity stunt than just for showing interest. Jagex already decided there was enough interest to bring it back, and they mentioned in the Q&A they started to bring back the new server since the Saturday before the vote started. And yes, my opinion a few days ago was that it wasn't handled in the best way, but after some more thought, It may actually be a good way to increase interest in it. If Jagex just announced, OLD SCHOOL SERVERS AVAILABLE NOW, then yes there would be a fair few going on the play, but with the poll, it encourages people to really get in contact with their old friends to give the poll more votes. If the servers just came out, while I'm sure lots of people would still tell their friends, others would just get on and start playing, without pushing for their old friends to return. Also, even if Jagex are putting their own votes into the system, they would still be able to know true player votes for an idea about how many people to expect. If it was something that truly no one wanted, it wouldn't be where it is now. And as for some people against the idea of Jagex accepting about 470-480k votes pass off as 500k, Jagex would only be willing to do that if they know that it will result in more people playing. So it's good to have the goals to really get people to pull their old friends back in, but they don't need to 100% follow through with that if they see a better option. I mean, if just 250k people end up voting, and that will be enough to sustain the game, then surely 480k players will be plenty to sustain it at the next level. Wait. What? Have they said anything about releasing rares at all on 07scape? They said it's a possibility if there's enough interest for it, but wont be in to start with. I'm hoping they don't, because I can't see a fair way to distribute them. Although the idea of putting them in treasure trails could be the best option if the majority want them (the best option I've seen people suggest).
  22. HELL YES! My only real annoyance won't be around! I'm a very happy Nabbagad!
  23. Wow pretty excited to be playing it in 2 days, they said it might be a little rough around the edges, hopefully not too rough. I wouldn't mind waiting an extra week to make sure it all went smoothly. And yeah, this will definitely help drive up votes. All current non-voters will be watching the fuss and the grand opening, and the only thing stopping them from joining in is a little vote. Jagex seem to really be wanting this to hit the 500k, and if they want it, I think they'll get it. And while I agree that having a development team for an 'oldschool' server might seem a contradiction, I think they are fully aware that leaving it completely as is, will lead to its eventual downfall. If they do content polls right, and only release stuff to the overwhelming majority, like at least 65-70% in favour, I think it'll be alright, but it doesn't need to be be given updates weekly, I'm all for monthly updates really. And it wont need any content update for quite a few months to start.
  24. Sure thing. I'm glad it's been useful. Yep nice job, I've enjoyed being able to view your graphs. @07RS, what's the point in a post like that? I don't mind having proper debates but posts like that aren't doing anyone good. Just a question, I know this will come off annoying as others have likely asked for it, but are Tip.It planning on getting 2007scape sub-forum like RSC? I would love to start discussing what people have planned and predictions. This thread is too big to really get any useful topics going, just keep it for discussing the votes and the informative debates.
