I am currently 51 Construction, headed for 60 Con and perhaps beyond. Is there any point that repeatedly building and destroying Oak Larders stops being the most efficient way to powerlevel? Thanks in advance!

My mission, should I choose to accept it, is to complete a bunch of skill goals in rapidfire succession. Since I've discussed my goals in greater detail in the Goals forum, I'll be relatively brief here. This first post will be to list each goal and the supplies I currently have in order to reach it (In progress) Construction: 51/60 Supplies Oak logs: 2269 Oak Planks: 309 2-4-07: Finished High-Alching platebodies from previous goal. Plowed through construction like it was nothing, even when I had to stop and chop more Oaks Will start Fishing soon. Randoms: 2 Mysterious Old Men 1 Molly 3 Strange Plants 1 Evil Chicken 1 Rick Turpentine Fishing: 70/76 Supplies Big Net 2-4-07 Started Fishing. No levels so far (not expecting any for a while anyway). 2-6-07 Observations: Big net fishing while wearing a ring of wealth seems to yield more oysters and caskets and fewer boots and gloves. This will be ideal for making pearl bolts later on I also happened to pick up a rack of bronze bolts that someone had dropped and attached them to some opal bolt tips. I will see if it will be worth enchanting the opal bolts (if so, I'll make bolts for the rest of the opal tips and enchant them as well). Edit: Lucky Lightning (enchanted opal bolts) sounds interesting... and making more bronze bolts should take no time at all Pearl bolt tips: 203 2-14-07 I got a nice little Valentine's Day present today - a Big Bass! I'm going to take it to the taxidermist to get stuffed and put it in my POH ASAP 2-15-07 I've noticed I've been collecting quite a lot of soda ash during my big net fishing, and for a bit I was trying to decided what to make it into, and where. I've decided that once I get an opportunity I'm going to make glass vials in Zanaris. I won't need to collect any seaweed by that point, and there's a nice sand pit right near a furnace! It'll sure beat running back and forth to Entrana! I'm less than halfway through my Fishing goal, and I already have 500+ soda ash and 1100+ pearl bolt tips! This latter was greatly boosted by a fellow fisher (thx lilmommacrow!). At this rate I'll have plenty of pearl bolts (e) for Slayer! I've stopped cooking my catch for the time being, but I plan to cook my proceeds at Fishing 74. I thought I was hallucinating during my cooking, but recently I discovered that cooking the fish (or Bass at least) gives more cooking xp than catching them gives fishing xp. A curious little bit of trivia there... 2-20-07 Reached 74 Fishing over the weekend, and not long after that I reached 75 cooking I have also since caught another Big Bass, but since I already have one in my house I'm not sure what I'll do with it. It's sitting in my bank for now. Going to get another level in Agility once I finish cooking the last of my Mackerels. I also got a halfkey from a casket over the weekend, and immediately after I bought the other half from a player. Dragonstones ftw! I've also discovered that the Man that hangs around the north fishing dock drops mad herbs! 2-27-07 Reached 75 Fishing and 76 Cooking over the weekend. Taking tiny break from Fishing to make glass vials in Zanaris (only to the next Crafting level) before I finish up fishing. I'm filling the vials at fairy fountains as I go, but I won't start adding herbs until I start Herblore properly. 3-5-07 Finished my Fishing Goal this afternoon. Will cook up all the leftover fish (victims of my impatience ) and present the final tally of bolt tips, soda ash, and molten glass before finishing up my Agility (163 turns round the Barbarian Course, yay) Agility 58/60 3-7-07 Agility done! I admired the change in music during my last few turns around the Barian course, but that place is starting to lose its effectiveness in training (yeah, I'm stubborn like that). I'll try the Brimhaven Agility course for Agility 60-70. For now, though, I'm mining the 290 iron I will need to make iron bolts for all the pearl tips I have from fishing. I'm debating whether I should smelt the bars in a furnace or with superheat (failure won't be a problem either way, since I have rings of forging). I might go with superheat since it will only take 170-odd of those to reach my next magic level (Magic 70 baby!). If I do I'll make enough nats to high-alch a few things I have in my bank. Ranged: 50/60 Supplies Enchanted Pearl Bolts: 2895 Slayer: 50/60 3-9-07 Lesser Demons: I'm slaying these in the Karamja Volcano, and discovering that these are popular beasties in the evening. #-o I'm also discovered that the enchanted pearl bolts don't do a whole lot against them, so I switched to meleeing with my dlong. Reached lvl 51 last night, and making good use of the bank downstairs :) Will probably try my magic short with steel arrows against them today, to see if the problem is high ranged defense over all, or just that crossbow bolts are weak. Update: Switched out to steel arrows and mage bow on my last bank run. Took a bit of frantic sprinting to find a good safe spot, but seem to be doing better now than I did with the crossbow and pearl bolts. Meh. I really wanted to use the enchanted bolts. Oh well. Update: Finished my lessers assignment (twice was interrupted by noobs setting up dwarf cannon in the non-multi area under Karamja Volcano. My next assignment was 10 wallbeasts (easy peasy), and after that I got an assignment of 135 Trolls (Chaeldar tends to alternate between super-easy and moderately hard assignments... grumble grumble). Will start on trolls later. 3-11-07 135 Trolls: I've found that trolls tend to be very good herb and seed droppers, as well as rather easier to kill than lesser demons (duh...). I expect this assignment to not take very long :D The herbs I'm gathering will be a huge help for herblore later on, and the seeds I can use with farming : 3-12-07 Finished up the trolls, but Burthorped Chaeldar's next assignment, 168 Fire Giants, in favor of 28 dogs. No special drops, of course, from the dogs, but the easy assignment was a nice break. My next assignment is 126 Trolls (C must hate trolls!), which means mad herbs and seeds again - yay! : 3-19-07 126 Trolls: After a brief hiatus, I'm back at my Slaying. Right now I'm around 4 Trolls away from my next Slayer level =P~ , but since I'm playing this during breaks at work, I'll have to wait till later this morning to realize this :x Oh well - It'll come. Update: Got my Slayer level bringing me to 53 Slayer, and as an added bonus I also got a HP level, bringing me to 66 hitpoints and 81 combat. Soldiering on through the troll hordes (if the four just to the west of the troll combat arena can be considered a horde :XD: ) Update: This evening while slaying cockatrices I got two things: A defense level (which I wasn't expecting so soon) and a cockatrice head! You can bet that I stuffed that sucker as soon as I finished my assignment and slapped him into my skill hall! Discovery: Cockatrices seem to drop more limpwurt roots than any other monster I've encountered thus far. They also drop more seeds and herbs than even the trolls. This is good b/c if I find myself short of a few levels after I farm all my seeds or make all my pots I can just spend a couple hours with the cockatrices to gather materials. I won't worry about that till I have to, though. My next assignment was 166 Fire Giants. Off to Burthorpe... 3-20-07 Put my new Slayer trophy in my POH and chatted him up for a bit (he's upset that I deaded him) and nipped off to Burthorpe for a replacement assignment. Cave crawlers aren't too bad - I have plenty of anti poison pots to get me through. Update: Cave crawlers done (only had 46 to kill, took me all of 25 minutes). The CCs drop okay loot, mainly herbs with the odd vial of water, red spider egg, or allotment seed. I also got 5 nats from them but I don't recommend them for nat farming. Heading to Zanaris soon for my next assignment. Update: My newest assignment is 149 Infernal Mages. Off to the Slayer Tower! I equipped my green dhide, my elemental shield, and my elemental helm, and loaded up on bass and headed off with me dragon long in hand. I discovered that while my armor prevents them from hitting every time, when they do hit, it can really sting. Fortunately Canifis isn't too far away for reloading. 3-21-07 Infernal Mages are ANNOYING, almost as annoying as werewolves are. Maybe I need better magic defense. I'm not getting killed or anything, but I am going through a lot of bass. Oh well. They don't drop a whole lot of loot, either - the best thing they drop semi-regularly is death runes, but they're not a good spot if you're after deaths specifically. maybe I'll get a lava staff or something out of this... 3-26-07 161 Harpie Bug Swarms: I've fought these before, and they're about like low-level training of Al-Kharid Warriors - just stand by and let them come to you. They're aggro, but not too bad if you have the lantern. Not a lot of sognificant loot, unless you're after money - I started there with 50 coins in my inventory (leftover from the boat ride from Ardy and a quick cart trip to and from Shilo) and already from Bug drops I have a total of 1600 coins from about five minutes' slaying. Cha-ching! Update: Finished with the Harpie Bugs without having to reload on food, and raked in some decent loot - about 11k in coins, 105 chaos runes, and 10 or so death runes. The steel axes, steel helms, and staves of fire I left there so as not to clutter my bank (which is getting a bit full... :-[ ) My next assignment is Bloodvelds... should be interesting. Update: 125 Bloodvelds. The first one I killed gave me another Slayer level, lol... But I still have a bunch left so no rest for the wicked... 3-27-07 Bloodvelds are tough. I'm using about as much food here as I did when I was fighting Infernal Mages, for not a lot of good drops. The best drop I've had so far with these is a few blood runes. Meh. 3-29-07 Finished with the bloodvelds (finally). I noticed that every so often when I killed one I would hit the bone jackpot, as it dropped 3 normal bones and 3 big bones. I left the regular bones there but buried the big ones for prayer. My current assignment is 150 Trolls, but decided to take a wee break and get a couple of what I call "whatever" levels, that is, levels that I will be getting later anyway but will get now to save time/prevent myself from burning out. I got a whatever level in Herblore (now 51 Herby) with a bunch of fishing and super attack pots, and I'll craft vials in Zanaris until 62 Crafting before returning to Slayer. 4-04-07 Nearly done crafting vials. I've found that if you already have the soda ash (as I did, from big net fishing), then Zanaris is the ideal place for glassblowing, since you have a sand pit, a furnace, and a bank within a stone's throw of each other. I expect to get my 63 Crafting by this evening. Update: Back to Slayer! 4-5-07: Started on my troll assignment this morning. The trolls aren't so tough since I've gotten a few levels in my combat skills, but I'm still bringing plenty of bass with me. I'm also burying the big bones they drop for prayer xp, even though I won't kill enough trolls to level in that during this assignment. I'm glad I have plenty of games necklaces in my bank - otherwise walking from Fally to Trollheim would be a painnnn... Update: 4-6-07 Less than 100 Trolls to go in this assignment. I'm getting okay loot this time through, mainly seeds, but I did get two herbs during this run (Marrentill and Tarromin). So far cockatrices are still the reigning champion of farming/herblore drops. 4-11-07 Finished with the Trolls. My next assignment is Jellies, which live in the Slayer Dungeon. I've never encountered these before, so I'm doing a bit of research on them before I set out. 4-17-07 I was running low on steel arrows for my Range goal, so I took a brief break and fletched about 3k of those for 66 Fletch (I like working in complete levels when I can... can't always tho *sad*). Last night I started on my Jellies assignment in Slayer. They're not so tough - after consulting the Monster database I suited up in my green dhide, ele shield and mind helmet for max magic defense and as of this morning I'm down to 66 remaining of 121. Got a defense level this morning, and per the Slayer Planner I expect to get a Slayer level by the end of this assignment. 4-18-07 Nice little birthday present for me today... I finished with the jellies not soon after. My next assignment is 121 Turoths, which I saw a little further into the Slayer dungeon, just past the Jellies. Booya! Update: The Turoths aren't too bad - the little ones are about like the Jellies were. On the bright side, Turoths drop a LOT of herbs and seeds. Cockatrices are still the champion, but Turoths make a nice secondary source (as long as you remember your leaf-bladed spear)! It looks like my next level will probably be in hitpoints if things continue as they are currently. I ventured past the Turoth chamber to see what lay deeper in the Slayer Dungeon, and found that not only was I close to the end of it - but that the last chamber contained Kurasks. Maybe someday... Update: Almost done with Turoths. One of them dropped a dwarf weed seed while I was there and akaik it was my first DW seed EVAR (but then I don't know for sure how rare they are as a drop. Oh well). Tons and tons of herbs this evening. 4-20-07 153 Pyrefiends: Wow. Enchanted crossbow bolts really are useless. I tried out my pearl bolts (e) on the pyrefiends, and not even the special (which dumps a bunch of water on them) did much of anything to them. Switched back to dlong. Grrr... I had gotten a Firegiants assignment from Chaeldar after I finish the Turoths, but Burthorped it in favor of 44 Ghosts. The Pyrefiends won't get me to my next Slayer level, but they ought to get me close. *hopeful* Update: Finished with the Pyrefiends. My next assignment is Banshees, which I've wanted to try to slay for a while now. Hopefully they have some decent drops. Off to the Slayer Tower! 4-21-07 Finished with the Banshees - they were almost as easy as the Harpie Bugs were. Also, I got a nice little bonus drop from one of them - red and black Mystic gloves! W00t! My next assignment is 161 Turoths. 4-23-07 52 Turoths remaining at this point. I'd be more annoyed with them by now if they didn't drop so many herbs. Fortunately, should be close to my 59 Slayer by the time I finish up with them. Update: Sweet zombie christmas - I should really learn to be careful what I wish for! I finished with the Turoths and returned to Chaeldar hoping for Something Else because I was tired of Turoths. I got Something Else, all right - 13 Bronze Dragons! *whimper* Haven't decided yet if I will Burthorpe this one... crafting the last of my soda ash into glass vials to buy time... 4-24-07 Finished up the last of my soda ash on vials. Should have plenty for Herblore later. Also Burthorped the Bronze Dragons in favor of 20 Desert Lizards. Should be fun... Update: Got through the Desert Lizards. Next assignment: 125 Blue Dragons. *eek* Didn't feel up to Slaying Blues (can't use hides or scales, yet, and no room to store them till later) just yet, so Burthorped for 35 Wolves. Current assignment is 157 Trolls, which will get me to 59 Slayer. 4-26-07: Update: Finished with the trolls. Next assignment: 115 Hellhounds. I have an idea where I can find some (Family Crest Dungeon) but will do a bit of research before I rush headlong into this one. 4-28-07: My next assignment after the Trolls was 112 Blue Dragons, which I Burthorped (no room in bank) in favor of 45 Skeletons. After I finished with that I got 128 Desert Lizards from Chaeldar, which was a minor annoyance because misjudging the application of the Ice Cooler wasted a Cooler. Like a moron I only got enough at first to exactly finish off the lizards, so I had to pick up a few more before I was done. The irony came when I got the next assignment: Lesser Demons. Ifyou look back in my journal you will notice that my first Slayer assignment in this blog was also Lesser Demons, and as it turned out it was also the assignment that put me over the top: That's right - 60 Slaying! I'm fairly excited about this, as it means that all I need to do for this stage is finish up my Ranged goal before I start on Hunter. 4-29-07: Here I am, getting a ranged level in the Ogre pens. I was a bit diappointed that I wasn't able to train Ranged and Slayer at the same time, but it's no big deal. Once I reach 60 Ranged I might have to clean out my bank before I start Hunter. 4-30-06: Per the Tipit calculator, I have 396 more ogres to kill before 60 Ranged. Update: 5-1-07: I've found that the Ogres drop a fair number of seeds, though nothing spectacular. Additionally, while burying the Big Bones they drop, I was visited by the Leo random event twice, which allowed me to get the complete zombie set (clothing and emotes)! Picture to come. I'm at 59 Ranged right now, and at the rate I'm going I fully expect to reach 60 this evening. My only problem right now is bank space - as in, I'm nearly out of it. I might need to pause for a bit for jewelrymaking and potionmaking, and finish the Manni the Reveler segment of Fremmenik Trials, to free up some space before I start up on Hunter. Update: 60 Ranging achieved! I'll start on Hunting tomorrow. (cont'd in next post)

Your best best for lots of spawns in one place would be NW Entrana island, near the entrance to the dungeon you have to enter for Lost City, or you can fish with a Big Net and hope. I don't know of any F2P spawns.

Update: 1-24-07: Current Levels Magic: 68 Mining: 77 Runecrafting: 57 Smithing: 67 I'm down to the last round! \ Only 899 iron ores remaining, which will require 1798 coal and 899 natures to smelt into steel. I won't get any mining, magic, or runecrafting levels from this, but I do expect one more rc level when I start high alching the platebodies. \ -
Slither - Awesome movie for people who like their horror movies gross and over the top. A must-see for fans of "Tremors". Final Destination 3 - not much more than a dead teenager movie by this point in the series. The first movie was scary as heck, and it's still fun to play "How many ways can this room kill you", but FD3 doesn't offer anything new beyond the opening roller coaster sequence.

Update: 1-12-06 Current lvls: Mining: 76 Smithing: 66 Runecrafting: 57 Magic: 67 I have 1967 iron ore remaining, so the end is in sight! :D The next stage of my project will be to mine and process 2194 coal, which will result in 1097 steel bars, and get me to 67 smithing, 68 Magic, and 77 Mining. No RC levels, though, at this stage, and probably not at all through the end of the project (at this point, 2293 to lvl 58). I'm not worried, though - 57 rc is pretty decent. After there I'll probably have only one more stage to go before I'm done smelting and smithing and can high alch all the steel plates I've made ^_^ -

Update 12-29: Current levels: Magic: 66 (Magic Guild ftw!) Smithing: 64 (not far from 65 after smithing all those steel bars) Mining: 75 (1390 to next level) Runecrafting: 56 (936 Nats to next level) I will need 955 Superheats to my next Magic level, meaning I will need to mine 1910 coal for the next round. Fortunately, this will bbring me tidily into 76 Mining and 57 RC, and well into 65 Smithing. In fact, at this point I will need to smelt and smith 989 steel bars to get to 66 smithing, requiring 1978 coal, so I might as well get the extra coal and go for it! : -
 Try Indian curry. (One of my co-workers from India says I should work up to this one SLOWLY) Try Sushi. Try Fugu (blowfish, possibly deadly if not prepared correctly) Go bungee jumping. Visit England, Germany, Australia, and Japan.

Update 12-28: Finished this latest round of coal mining, and currently crafting Nature runes and superheating my steel into bars. This will earn me a level each in Magic and Smithing, but I'm a ways from a runecrafting level at this time, and it will be at least 1000 nats till then even after I finish this round of superheating. Decided to try crafting 100 or so Nats before superheating, just for variety. This seems to pass the time a bit better. -

Update: 12-15-06 Recently got levels in Runecrafting (now 56) and Magic (now 65 - one lvl from Magic Guild!). I currently have 1049 Steel Bars to smith, which will bring me to 63 Smithing. After smithing these I'll get ready for my next round by mining 1748 Coal (bringing me to 75 Mining), which should be enough to get me to 66 Magic (874 Superheats). This won't affect my RC lvl (which will require 1829 Nats to reach the next level), but that will keep till the next round. Edit: 63 Smithing reached - 1011 bars to next level. -
I have full lederhosen and full Frog Prince (plus enough tokens to get Frog Princess if I stopped by the MM for a gender change)

Artemis495 replied to Artemis495's topic in BlogScape (Ongoing Progress Reports and Goals)
12-8-06: I did a bit of checking and determined that Magic will be my next level, in 284 Superheats. After that will come Runecrafting (758 Nats) and Smithing (1056 steel bars smelted). My next mining level won't come for another 2283 coal -.- . Training four skills simultaneously like this requires some planning and a bit of patience, but the reward of mad total levels (as opposed to only the smithing levels) will be worth it. -

12-2-06: I've been mining coal for a bit now. Unexpected snow days helped give me the time to work on it : but I know better than to think that I'll mine all that coal in one stretch without wanting to break something. Instead I'll use skill levels as minibreaks for the tedious tasks: Mine till lvl, runecraft till lvl, Superheat. Lather, rinse, repeat. And even after all that if I just want to put it down for a bit and do something else, I have my other lvl 60 goals I can hammer away at : -

11-27-06 Update: I have right around 1500 more iron to mine. After this I may take a small break and get a level in Agility or something, and then return to the smithing project. To prevent the monotony of mining 10,900 coal or crafting over 6k nats all in one stretch, I plan to mine 1k coal, then go to Shilo and craft nats, superheating bars as I go. Lather, rinse, repeat until I have all my steel bars, then go smith them in Seers. Once my plates are all smithed with will be back to Shilo to craft nats and high alch the plates. I still have a little ways to go, but I'm confident that I will get to 68 smithing by New Year's. Edit: Per the Mining calc on the main page I have 413 iron till 73 Mining :) -
In light of the new Hunter skill, I happened to think back to the Skill Hall in the Player-Owned Houses, wherein one can build trophies based on their Slayer, Fishing, Smithing, or Slayer skills. I happened to think - aren't trophies also a natural part of Hunting? Sure, the Hunter monsters drop fur and other useful materials, but it would also be nice if there was a chance one might drop a trophy, especially the larger Hunter monsters like the Spined Larupia, the Horned Graahk, and the Sabretooth Kyaat. As with the other trophy drops, the Hunter trophies would need to be taken to the Taxidermist in Canifis to be stuffed. So here are my suggestions: Hunter Level: 11 Construction Level: 28 Item: Cerulean Twitch Trophy Required: Stuffed Cerulean Twitch, 2 Oak Planks Hunter Level: 19 Construction Level: 28 Item: Tropical Wagtail Trophy Required: Stuffed Tropical Wagtail, 2 Oak Planks Hunter Level: 31 Construction Level: 38 Item: Spined Larupia Trophy Required: Stuffed Larupia Head, 2 Teak Planks Hunter Level: 41 Construction Level: 38 Item: Horned Graahk Trophy Required: Stuffed Graahk Head, 2 Teak PLanks Hunter Level: 55 Construction Level: 48 Item: Sabretoothed Kyaat Trophy Required: Stuffed Kyaat Head, 2 Teak Planks. This is just a preliminary idea. Any suggestions and feedback would be appreciated!

There should be another option in the right-click menu, something like "Look-in Barrel". Use that and you should find her fairly quickly.

Day 6: I've finished mining Pure Essence for the Nature Runes, and I am currently taking a small break and chopping Oaks for a bit. Once I get the oak logs I will eventually convert to planks for Construction, I will head over to the Ardy bear mine and start mining my iron. Current Resources: 6540 Pure Essence
