  1. Interesting idea. Could you throw shields as well?
  2. Yes, but you get some woodcutting xp. I think.
  3. First of all, do you need to equip ring? Second, whats the point of going back to tutorial island?
  4. rangers complain about being underpowered yet JaGex only allows meleers to benefit more than anyone else still. They can't complain after this :P When dont rangers complain, they always complain! No matter how much you give people they will always want more. I mean they just got salamanders, chinchompas, c'bows, composition bows, blessed dragon hide armour, and still you say range is underpowered/jagex only gives benefits to meleers. Hunter was focused entirely on improving the range skill, I know because I wrote up the list of updates to go in other guides on Tip.It No support those are good things but they don't concentrate on slayer in particular. I know many people who range slay and are hitting only around 19s with range while i can hit 23s at only 70strength with my black mask. *sarcastically* I know, 19's are soooo low! I mean.... Come on! You're complaining about 4 points of damage! Instead of complaining go out and get the new items, then we'll see if we listen to you. 4 damage is alot \ Not when you're hitting 19's lets compare the stats: 99str you hit 29 with whip natural (just whip) 99range you hit 25 with cbow and every range item (not sure but its around 25) now the person with 99strength flips on potions/black mask/ armour and hits well over 40..now is that fair? 70str i hit 23, i'm also 70range and only hit 11 with addy arrows..thats over double And how many people have you fought that have those stats? seriously..i know ALOT about stats having such strange ones as i do currently. I know how badly range is underpowered and how much melee is overpowered. I know tons of stakers who face range vs melee and 90% of the time the meleer wins (these are maxed players). So just leave the thread and take your knowledge with you (not that its worth very much). You have 43 slayer, i have 81. i think that sums up how much you know about black mask and how it overpowers meleers when it comes to slayer. *Sigh* Just because I don't have a level, doesn't mean I don't have knowledge. This thread isn't about whether ranged is underpowered and melee is overpowered. It was a suggestion to change the blakc mask. This isn't a debate over who knows what, its a discussion on what's wrong and what needs to be fixed. The old saying goes "if its broke fix it!". But how do you tell if it's broke? Just because you hit 11's with addy arrows and not 23's doesn't mean that an item is broken. There are three different melee skills, and only one ranged skill (not counting hitpoints). Why wouldn't melee be stronger with help from three different stats? see? you didn't grasp the point of this thread at all. It IS about melee being overpowered more because of slayer with the black mask while range being left on it's own. If it was given 15% + range/mage bonus then it would be more of a fair playing field. You do realize we said just about the same thing? this quote is becoming abit too long. Just say whether you support or not and lets be done with it :D Agreed. This has become more of a personal shouting match between the two of us. On the subject of whether or not I support, I'm not convinced it should happen, but I wouldn't be against it if it did.
  5. The ring of forging disapears after 120 uses, that ring wouldn't I like the idea so far, be sure to expand it  It's not very hard to obtain multiple rings of forging...

  7. First of all, what about the bank, friends lists, and quests instructors?(just kidding) Anyways, the ring that gives you 70% chance of smithing iron is pointless, ring of forging does the same thing except it gives 100%
  8. Interesting idea. A few questions though. If you drank pots, would the stats of your copy change? Same goes for food. Also, this sounds like the things where you fight your armor in the Warriors Guild. I agree with the above comment.
  9. Well written, interesting, and quite eloquent. I knew this was out there, just never really payed attention to it. It was a much needed slap in the face :D
  10. Now this is a funny post  Others should learn how to make jokes from this. Thank you
  11. Even better, make a quest specifically for unlocking these robes, instead of combining with Dragon Slayer. :) ... Mages would have an awful time at Dragon Slayer, so why not give them a quest tailored for them instead? Obviously, I don't mean make it easy. Make it as hard as it would be for a Warrior/Ranger would have in Dragon Slayer, but not harder. In short, the difficulty of a Warrior/Ranger in Dragon Slayer would be equal to the difficulty level of the Mage-specific Quest for Mages to unlock the new robes. Anyone get what I am saying here? :-s ~Mr. Devnull Good idea, but! IN past topics on adding more F2P quests ALL of them were flamed, then locked. So I think iy would be safer to just make it an addon. ( I do get what your saying ) zaaps is right, a quest is extremely unlikely. I still think that mystic and splitbark are pretty drastic and all you need to do is make wave f2p, and maybe make some higher level p2p combat spells.
  12. Would people stop saying there isn't enough room? We could fit about 4 crafting guilds on either side before we hit the monastery. (Rough estimate)

  16. Thanks Yan, trees are definately something I'll add. Going to wait for some more feedback regarding how many and which type would be popular with the majority. I'll update the graphic when I know mroe :) Harrington, it's time you made some of your own decisions. While its nice you're using democracy, we can't vote on everything! Make some of your decisions, and see how people react!
  17. There are lots of ways of avoiding that rule
  18. I wasn't flaming you, I just couldn't understand what you wrote. I want Varrok to be updated just as much as anyone else. The problem is it's hard to understand what you are saying.
  19. I never said to stay away from all players. In fact, only two of my suggested tips say to stay away from big worlds and lumbridge. And if you have a problem, would you mind providing a possible solution?

  21. Hi Bellatrix.... thanks for your post On the first point of Construction being a money sink, I completely agree, but I think you'll find that the enormous majority of money was blown on the planks as opposed to the high level materials such as marble and gold leaves. Both the COSTS and TIMESCALES for converting logs to planks would be identical to those of the Sawmill. The only advantage would be some minor EXPERINCE. It's a nice alternative to all that running and money spending. At least at the Guild, it'll be a little more worthwhile. While I like the idea of a minigame related to construction, it's a little outwith the scope of my suggestion :) On the third and final point. I quite like the idea of clue scroll construction rewards and if enough other people support that, then I'll add it. For now I'll leave it alone (mainly coz I can't be bothered designing another monster atm). Thanks for your feedback anyway, it's constructive and appreciated :) I like the construction clue scroll rewards. They give a nice little reprieve on your money.
  22. We've all seen them, in members or free worlds. Newbs and Noobs. This guide will attempt to give you a polite yet pointed way of saying "Don't bother me". Table of Contents: [1] Definitions [1a] Drawing the Line [1b] Begging [1c] Goofing Around [2] Newb Encounters [3] Noob Encounters [4] Avoinding Newbs/Noobs [5] Walkthroughs [5a] Newbs [5b] Noobs [1] Definitons Before I get to describing how to handle noobs/newbs, I would like to accurately define the terms. Newb (aka, Newbie, Newby): Newbs are players that are new to the game. They ask questions like "What town is this?" "How do I get to Varrok?" "Can I buy what you are wearing?" "How do I make pot lids?". They are inexperienced, and tend to ask what many 'Veteran' players would consider stupid questions. Noob (aka N00b, choob, ch00b): Noobs are players that are immature. They say things like "Wanna be my gf/bf?" "Stop stealing my rock!" "Trimming armor!" "Hi, I'm a Jagex mod" "Selling this account fo Xgp!". They are players that decide that going about the game fairly is not worth it, and seek to 'make it' in RuneScape by breaking the rules. Choobs are players that are higher combat level than you are who have noob behaviors. [1a] Drawing the Line At what point do newbs become noobs, and vice versa? This is a hard question that can't be answered perfectly. For example, a player who asks you "What armor is that?" and you are wearing Dharoks, that player is a newb. If they ask "What weapon is that?" and you are using the rubber chicken, if after you tell them its a rubber chicken and untradeable, if they continue asking you "Can I buy that? I'll give you Xgp!", then that player is certainly a noob. [1b] Begging Begging is a very annoying and pathetic practice used by both newbs and noobs. They are however different. Newbs (at least the independent ones) will say "How do you make money?". If you give them a simple, basic explanation, you could send them on their way feeling happy and gleeful with fantasing riches, and yourself satisfied with a good deed. Noobs on the other hand, will say things like "You wanna share accounts?" "Can I have your pass?" "Give me all your stuff!" "Please, I got hacked, can I have some gp?". While for the first two options you should report them, you feel generous and give a few spare coins. [1c] Goofing Around Sometimes you will find medium-high level players (40+ usually) shouting things like "OMG the chickens are invading!" in Falador Square on World 2. These players are generally neither newbs nor noobs. They are just goofing around. If this comment is said by a low-medium level player (40-) then they are most likely newbs, and have never seen the Evil Chicken random event. [2] Newb Encounters Most newb encounters occur in (obviously) free worlds. As a player comes out of Tutorial Island with only the basic knowledge, its certain that they will ask questions. If you happen to be in the area, and a newb starts following you asking "What town is this?" "Can you take me to Varrok?" "How did you get that (item)?". [3] Noob Encounters Noob encounters can occur anywhere, though the most common place is (once again) free worlds. These players are generally either saying very immature things i.e. "I ****ed your momma" or they are scamming ex."Trimming Armor!". They should be reported for Offensive Language and Item Scamming, respectively. There are a few other types of noob that are scarcer. The "Accuser" Noob claims that if you mine/chop a rock/tree before them, you must be an Autoer. The "Begger/Trade Me" Noob either presses the trade with button multiple times or follows you around begging for items. The "Buyer" Noob is one that attempts to either buy an untradeable item, or gives 2k for a Dragon Longsword. There is also the "Bug" Noob that reports you for bug abuse after you annoy them about scamming. [4] Avoiding Newbs/Noobs There are ways to cut down on the chance of meeting these types of players (I've been playing for two years, and after becoming member have not run into this type of encounter :D ). Avoiding Newbs Stay OUT of Free worlds: This is pretty simple. If you're a member and want to keep away from newbs, stay in worlds where they are less common. As a free player, you obviously can't. Don't go to populated worlds unless you NEED to: If you're a free player and you want to cut down on newbs, stay out of big worlds. More newbs come into big worlds because they want to talk to people when they get out. Yes, if you want to go merchanting in World 1, you can go, but you're going to see a good amount of newbs loitiering around. Turn Public Chat OFF: If you can't hear what people say, you can't be very bothered by people asking you where they are. Of course, you'll sometimes get the determined/stubborn newb that follows you from Falador to the Wilderness, but most newbs will break off if you don't respond. Stay OUT of Lumbridge: If you wanna stay away from something, why go to where that thing is most prevalent? Thus, stay out of Lumbridge. Of course, you can go there as you need to, for quests and after death, but as a general rule of thumb stay out. Carry Runes around to train Magic: This is better done with members due to Camelot Teleport, but free players can do it as well. If a newb starts following you and you would like to leave, just teleport away. Not only do you lose the newb, you also get some Magic xp! Avoiding Noobs Note: Refer to all of the above as a means of avoidance. Here are a few more, just for Noobs. If you see a player claiming to trim armor STAY AWAY: Keep away from danger, report them, and mention to surrounding players not to trade with the noob. Or, as an opposite of the previous tip, PLAY ALONG: And then takes some screenshots, and report them. This gives you some evidence, and some personal pride. Use a RUBBER CHICKEN or an EASTER EGG: This drives noobs nuts when they see you in an egg or you whack them with a rubber chicken. They usually leave, after reporting you for bug abuse  Go ahead, report them for Misusing Customer Support. [4a] Stay within the Boundaries of the Rules If, when you find a noob who's scamming, you end up turning the tables on him, he can now report you! It is important to always follow Jagex's rules when you are trying to stop a scammer. [5] Walkthroughs Ah, finally, the centerpiece. Now that you know what newbs/noobs are, know what situation is which, and how to avoid them, it's time to know what to do when you actually ARE confronted by one. We'll work with both newbs and noobs, what you should say and do, what you SHOULD NOT do, and how to keep the conversation as polite as possible. I'll post a few here now, but as new ones come up, I'll insert them here. [5a] Newbs Situation: You are in Lumbridge to meet a friend that just started playing RuneScape. A newb (not your friend) walks up to you. Newb: Hi, can you tell me where I can get eggs, flour, and milk? You: (Of course you could ignore him, but helping him would be a lot nicer. Remember, we were all Newbs once :) ) Sure, you need to go to the Chicken Farm on the other side of the river for the eggs, they'll be scattered on the ground. For the flour, get a pot, go north and pick some wheat. Take the wheat to the mill nearby, go to the top floor, put the wheat in the hopper, operate the hopper, go back down to the bottom floor, and use the pot with the flour. For the milk, get a bucket, and opposite the Chicken Farm are dairy cows, just select 'Milk Dairy Cow'. (Yes that took awhile, but now you have a player that will be grateful to you, now you can get some stuff off him, legally of course) Newb: Okay, thanks Newb leaves. Ten minutes later your friend still hasn't shown up. You get a pm from the Newb. Newb: It says I need 10gp to get across. You: (Staying nice!) Oops! You have to go north, up the river to get to the chicken farm, it'll be on your left. Just follow the road. Newb: Thanks. Five more minutes, still no friend. You're about to give up, when you get a PM from the Newb. Newb: I can't find the mill. You: (ooh, the temptation! :-# ) You have to come back to this side of the river. Newb: K You log out. Sure that was long and boring, but it wasn't like you had much else to do. Besides, you just contributed to yourself. That newb will eventually get experienced, and will further enrich the economy, and Tip.It  [5b] Noobs It's much easier to think of different Noob situations than it is for Newb situations. SItuation: You are walking through Falador while wearing bunny ears and wielding a scythe. A player starts following you. You are heading off to do the newest quest (doesn't matter which one). Noob: Hi. You: Hi. Noob: What's that on your head? You: Bunny ears. Noob:Oh, what about your weapon? You: Scythe. Noob: Can I buy? You: I'm sorry, they're untradeable. Noob: Liar! You just want to keep them for yourself! Reported. *Calmly report him for Misusing Customer Support* You: I'm not lying. They're untradeable. Noob: Reported again! You: Gtg *add him to your ignore list, and either run or teleport somewhere else* In this last one, you stayed polite, and managed to get an annoying player away from other people. Some would consider this mean, but that's life. More to come around 7 o'clock ET -ish
  23. So you're saying you can aqcuire logs, turn them into planks, moving your houses location, change its appearance, and hiring a servant, all in your house?
  24. Another thing. The dragons should probably be in a dungeon beneath the guild, and there should be two or three of each of them.
