I would prefer a return to Tutorial Island personally. I don't give a crap about Ashdale.

I doubt you would get punished for something like this honestly. It's just a training method that Jagex didn't plan on making. There have been other instances of stuff like this and all they did was remove it from the game.

It was never a matter of technical abilities. The numbers were purposefully such that melee was the best and that mage and ranger were secondary. They could have easily tweaked the numbers to equalize the triangle, and released mage/range weapons/armours but it was never really a concern or priority. In OSRS, their small and limited team has just done something of the sort, they have released t70 weapons for rangers/mages in God Wars (something the original god ars never had), and they released new shields for mages and rangers from the wilderness bosses. It's not that hard, something of this could have been done in the original RS, it was just never really a concern. Not sure what we are calling the original Runescape here, but if it's Classic then there are some technical difficulties I assume. I agree they could have made things more even (get rid of the 20 second wait after casting a failed spell is one) but I would imagine the nature of the game would make melee naturally favored. Going back to my first point, I'm not sure why they would offer players to be mages and archers if they didn't plan on making those on par with melee. Why would you intentionally put someone at a starting disadvantage to somebody else? If we're talking about early Runescape 2, in early 2005 (about a year or so after classic), Barrows came out giving mages and archers tier 70 weaponry. This was an important step to making magic and range more than a complement to melee, although I would definitely agree that it wasn't equal. It's also important to remember that tiers of weaponry was not nearly as important as it is today. A magic shortbow could easily pierce through torags for instance. Either way though, I'm saying that Jagex probably intended to make the classes eventually equal the moment the game opened, not during late RSC or RS2. We won't know for sure unless the creators elaborate more; this is all speculation. I think they eventually realized that melee was going to be at a natural advantage because no ammo is required and stuck with it.

To be fair to Sy's point, when the game was in it's early stages you could choose what class you could be. Archers got extra range experience, Warriors got extra melee experience, etc. So even though the three classes were nowherere near equal I bet the creators were hoping for some sort of triangle. They just didn't have the technical abilities to do it until RS2. I heard the above fact second hand; did not experience btw.

Would the Elder Gods quest feature Zaros? He seems to be pretty into them.

You can mage the tree spirit but you need to bring something to make a wand with, like spider silk. You would also need the crafting level to make the wand, which shouldn't be a problem since the quest requires 31 crafting anyway. The safespot still works.

Did anybody run into that glitch where you can't exit the nihil room after beating them all? Yeah, I did :(

I'm interested to see what will happen if we teleport or die on Frenskae.

RS3 Pking in One of a Kind Quest 400m+ loot PK Video [4:35]
Sobend replied to Majento's topic in RuneScape Media
It was really easy to avoid any pkers if there was one, you just had to click the "Freedom" ability and click on the Dungeon. Teleblocks didn't work. But the thing is a lot of people were caught off guard. The quest was poorly designed and you took advantage of it. Not going to restate the whole paragraph I wrote on another forum :p. -
I thought this was very nice. I know for sure I would never be able to write something like this, so I am impressed as usual. Not an aficionado on this though. I also found the title interesting in connection to Runescape the game, if there is any. Like we have quests in game, but our ultimate quest is life. Again, not sure if you meant a connection to be had. Very cool album cover too.

Runescape Classic is heavily botted, you are correct. There are legit players but it feels like the bots outnumber the legitimates. So you can't play to compete with other people because you can't compete with bots. The only real reason to play is for yourself. I'm sure there are things that you never got around to while playing classic which you could do now. You also have a veterans account which should help you find good training areas without dealing with the bots. If I were you I'd just play Classic for a little while and see how you like it. Welcome back.

What Regular People Think of RuneScape (RS3 vs OSRS)
Sobend replied to Piu's topic in General Discussion
So we are not "regular people?" That's a shame :(. -
Dang, now I actually have to train Div. >.<

I agree with Sylpheed that it seems that many players forget the purpose of the game - to have fun - and try to tirelessly max out just for the achievement part of it. I only have two 99s (insert laugh track here) and I didn't do either for fun. The first one I did was so people would stop laughing at my account for having no 99s and the second was a long time goal. Looking back, I'm not sure why I did that instead of, well, having fun. However, I'm sure many people find training all of their stats to 99 as fun. I happen to not be one of those people.

As somebody who is pretty bored with the game I connected a lot with the second article. I just don't get into the game as much and stick around for community reasons. I think this is understandable. I've grown up and the game has changed drastically. Also the part of the game which I find the most interesting, pvp clanning, is dead in Runescape 3 and I don't have enough time to train up a character on 07. The only thing I truly enjoy on Runescape are the quests. I like talking to old friends from years back who log in once in awhile. In December one of my old friends from as far back as 2005 came on and we had a nice discussion. In November I had a similar discussion as well with another old friend. Our fading interests in the game are the only thing that connects us, and when that interest is gone our friendship will be gone forever. Sad to think about.

Okay thanks.

So this is a problem many people are experiencing and has something to do with the game engine? Good, but why am I getting similar issues with the beta. The beta was fine when it first came out and has not been updated since, however I experience the same issue there.
-
Just recently I noticed some issues with the ground texture on my computer. As you can see, the texture (grass, etc) is messed up. Sometimes chat text (above player heads) can get messed up too. I don't think this is on Jagex's side because the beta server (which doesn't get updated) has the same things. How can I fix this? I've tried updating Java and playing on a different browser (normally I play on Chrome). I don't think other common quick fixes (clearing Jagex cache for example) would work here.

Legacy mode is probably going to win and I'm very concerned on how this is going to work.

11-Dec-2013 - The Bird and the Beast (World Event 2)
Sobend replied to Ned's topic in General Discussion
I am not opposed to killing off gods but right now it is wayyyy too early. The God Wars raged for years and apparently not many of the gods died. Now all of a sudden they're going to be dropping like flies? It would be better if the winner would push the loser into temporary submission, and the winner would also be the main character in an upcoming quest series. -
It is personally tough for me to weigh judgment on this topic, so far anyway. We all know that Runescape has lost activity, but the activity decrease seems to be waning off. I am not implying that Runescape is not dying, but if it is then it is dying a lot slower than people make it out to be. I'd love to see the game get back to its 100k+ days, but for now I think we will have to get used to the current activity levels of the game.
