Strategies & Tips Strategies In Soul Wars, there are an abundance of strategies used in order to win the game. I will show you the most successful strategies to win. The most important thing players can do to ensure a victory is to choose the correct team from the beginning. In almost all games, the final outcome is decided in the first five minutes. Once a team of high level players captures the obelisk, the other team will rarely succeed in capturing it. Players should scan both waiting rooms and select the one with more level 100+ players, as this team almost always wins. Clan chats can also be used to determine the winning team. The downside of this technique is that players will not get in every time, resulting in 3 zeal per two games. However, the average (1.5 zeal per game) is still more than one zeal per game. Ok, first of all, in order to make these strategies work, a player will need a full inventory of food and 1 barricade as shown below: (pic. will be added soon.) The Bridge Barricade The Bridge barricade is when a player runs to the Soul Obelisk and sets a barricade next to the bridge so the opposing team cannot enter the Obelisk to gain control of the Obelisk which is a key part of the game. A player will need 1 barricade and full inventory of food just in case you get attacked on your way to the Obelisk. Do you see how I trapped so many people with just a small barricade? That one barricade can make your team win. Now, imagine you had 5 players helping block the bridge. Talk about a lot of time to win over the obelisk for your team. After setting the barricade in front of the bridge, I recommend attack the people who attack the barricade which will make them to attack you because of auto retaliate, making your barricade last longer. :) Retribution/Suicide Requirements: 46 prayer for Retribution. Retribution is when players inflict damage to opponents when they die. This is probably the easiest strategy. All you have to do is die with retribution on, and boom, opponents will be inflicted with damage, even with a possibility of killing a few. I recommend using this strategy at the Soul Obelisk or at the other team's base, or a graveyard where players enter battle to hurt them before they get into the real battle. The Supply Ambush Try setting up a "border" just in front of your supply base. Simply set up a few barricades just outside or between the entrance of the supply base so it creates a "border". Have a few rangers/mages waiting behind the barricades so when an Enemy comes into range, they are ambushed. The Graveyard/Obelisk Rush The graveyard/obelisk rush is where a mass group of players follow one person who takes them to the graveyard or obelisk to take it over for their team. Half of the time it works. Half of the time, it's a complete waste of time. If your going to do the graveyard/obelisk rush, I recommend following a high level player who actually knows what he is doing and does the job quick instead of running the wrong direction and waiting for more people to fall in then there are in the game. The Soul Destroyers If your team is about to lose, then this strategy can save your team from losing. Lets say your on the blue team, and the red team just took over the Soul Obelisk but your team still has a high avatar level. Gather up 3-6 high levels and go to the red team's Pyrefiends and Jellies. At the Pyrefiends, you will see a bunch of low levels and even some people saying, "Soul Runner here." That is what you want to see. Whoever says they're a Soul Runner, kill them as fast as you can and do whatever to make them not use their Soul Fragments on the Obby. Having a Mage with Ancient Magicks will really make this easier. So, it's kind of like a police car chase where you, the police, are trying to stop the Soul Runner from getting to the Obelisk. If you go to the Jellies, it will be harder as there are many 110+ up who of course have bandages with them and are probably stronger than you. So I recommend just going to the opposing team's Pyrefiends and killing everyone there and destroying their Soul Fragments that took them so long to get. So, what are you waiting for? Go and destroy those Soul Fragments! Tips [*:e31wytsd] Join a clan at Soul Wars that has a lot of people and makes calls for which team they should join about 1-2 minutes before the next game. "Crashing Sw" is one of the leading clan chats at World 145. "Crashing sw" gets their calls from 110+ combat clan chats to always win. I recommend joining them if you want to win a lot. [*:e31wytsd] Always get a full inventory of food and barricades right after a player comes back to life so a player can increase their chances of killing another player or capturing the Obelisk. [*:e31wytsd] The Obelisk is often referred to as the Obby. [*:e31wytsd] Players who have a good summoning level should bring familiars with them into battle. [*:e31wytsd] The bridges leading to the Soul Obelisk are arguably the best place for barricades. These can be used in conjunction with Ancient Magicks to deal large amounts of damage unhurt. [*:e31wytsd] Bury bones at your graveyard to increase your Avatar's Slayer level and restore your prayer points. [*:e31wytsd] Never head into battle without bandages and explosive potions. These can be your best friends during the battle! [*:e31wytsd] Warning: If you leave a game, you are unable to join another game until that game is over. This is to stop cheaters swapping over to the winning side. [*:e31wytsd] Fight Jellies or Pyrefiends on the outskirts of the battlefield to collect Soul Fragments/Bones. [*:e31wytsd] When a player tries to bury a bone anywhere, you can only do so at your controlled graveyard. Also, there is no drop selection for the bones, just destroy. [*:e31wytsd] Burying bones in your graveyard has a chance of raising your avatar's required slayer level by one, and it will restore your prayer level by half. [*:e31wytsd] Unofficially World 60 is for playing on for Tie-Games. [*:e31wytsd] The maximum hit on an Avatar is 200. [*:e31wytsd] In my experience grave rushes have limited effect on the round's outcome at best, and can be disastrous in a hotly-contested game at worst. The only situation where a team is strong enough to hold both graveyards and be control of the obelisk is if one side is so stacked that the round has already been won anyways. In any other case, launching a grave rush at the other team's graveyard only occupies players that could otherwise be battling for the obelisk or collecting soul fragments. You might even end up in a situation where you lose your original graveyard and are stuck trying to get bandages from your opponent's base when you die and respawn (all while facing attacks). Don't bother doing them. [*:e31wytsd] On a related note, Jagex updated Soul Wars so that you can no longer get bandages while under attack. It takes some practice, but in these situations, take and set up cades between you and your opponent. By the time they succeed in destroying it, enough time will have passed for you to fill your inventory. [*:e31wytsd] It is suggested that you bring armor and weapons for at least 2 combat types, in order to counter the large amount of protection prayers that you will encounter. [*:e31wytsd] You can only carry one barricade at a time, unlike in Castle Wars. I personally think it's pointless to set up a wall of cades, since the effort it takes for the enemy to use an explosive pot is minimal compared to you running back to the supply area to get another cade. You're much better off trying to maximize the effect of just one. A popular method besides blocking the obelisk bridge involves setting up a cade on the innermost approach into a team's base. When people click to move on the mini-map, the game automatically calculates the shortest path, which in this case leads them to be blocked. This tactic works especially well if you remain on the cade after you set it, and use your special attacks with smite on after you trap another player. [*:e31wytsd] Another way to use cades is to set up a "maze" on the same approach mentioned above. Use this pattern, with each x symbolizing a cade: :
x x x By using this staggered pattern, you force incoming opponents to click square-by-square in a very time consuming process. This method also doesn't block the passage completely, which means your team members can still pass through on their way to the obelisk (although it does take a bit more effort). Since it's located close by the supply area, it's fairly simple to replace cades as they are destroyed or damaged. [*:e31wytsd] I've noticed that on moderately busy and busy worlds the winning team alternates every game or so. If you think about it, it makes sense (Lower leveled players tend to move into the winning team's waiting area while the round is still in progess). As soon as one game ends, your best bet is to immediately enter in the losing team's waiting area for the highest priority. [*:e31wytsd]Before a new game starts, a player should join the team with the highest lvls and best familiars.
