RuneScape Information

  1. Just so you know, your program installs and runs fine under Linux using Wine, it can retrieve skill levels and seems to work pretty much normally except for the right click, which does nothing, making it somewhat tedious to use.
  2. Sorry if I wasn't clear. My point was that, for me at least, right clicking to mark a quest as complete wasn't immediately obvious. I know that you mention it on the download page but I have to admit that I only skimmed it. My suggestion was to have a dialogue box the first time you run the program to tell you the basic controls, though on reflection this seems a somewhat clumsy way of doing things. Again, apologies for my lack of clarity. I meant that a button that marked all quests as done would be useful, in a similar way to the "mark all" button on TipIts quest list. Also, kudos on keeping the number of commands manageable, a lot of devs seem unable to resist squeezing commands in anywhere they can (yes, i realise the irony of pointing this out while asking for a new command). Keep up the great work! :D
  3. I downloaded and installed. On the first run, it crashed out after attempting to retrieve my stats but I think this was down to Norton blocking the connection as it worked fine on the second run, after I allowed it to connect to the internet. Its a pretty nice program, though it definitely still needs some work. Some of my thoughts: - Could make it clearer, perhaps with a dialog on first run, that right click can be used to quickly mark quests complete - A "cleared all" button would be nice - It would be good if it could better handle quests that are completed without the required stats (ie with potion) - A choice of resolutions would be good but that isn't a big deal -The installer seemed reluctant to install into subdirectories. Otherwise, a very nice program ! I'm looking forward to future releases. Specs Intel dual core ~2.8GHz 1Gb RAM Vista Home Premium

    Quitting

Yeah, you don't seem in anyway addicted and you clearly have your priorities straight so, just make sure your password is memorable and only log on when doing so isn't interfering with something more important and you'll be fine. You can move on without "killing" your account. You really don't sound like you have willpower issues so I'm sure that RuneScape won't pose a problem for you. Good luck, whatever you decide to do.
  5. Yeah, Merlin's Crystal is easy and gives 6 (!?!) quest points.
  6. I'd suggest Runecrafting too, do nats until you get one more level and then do double cosmics.
  7. Yeah, they sell pretty well, what with people enchanting jewellery and orbs. I've got 65 RC and so can make double cosmics and they are still the most profitable thing for me to make.
  8. They should take around 4 hours but the timer can be wildly inaccurate. As far as I know, supercompost only affects the chance of disease for trees.
  9. Me too. Is gonna take a while for me to break the habit I suppose. I was really hoping for placeholders, I hope it gets put in soon, instead of having to wait a few more years for another bank overhaul. I admit that I know almost nothing of programming but, surely it wouldn't be that hard to make 0 an allowed value for a banked item. An interface that is bigger in fullscreen would be nice, as would the ability to send PMs but these are only minor quibbles. I found the Lumby diary really enjoyable, running around with a a random assortment of items, just exploring and trying things out reminded of when I started playing (around early 2004 I think) catching and cooking shrimps by draynor, making the Varrock mine-> Lumby furnace -> Varrock anvil run, of just chatting to random NPCs, going into houses, searching all the drawers and exploring the upstairs. As a member with all quests done I have a much larger area that I'm free to explore but I don't think I've ever spent more time exploring than those early days, perhaps with the exception of when I became P2P and ran excitedly to the Varrock members gate to explore the hidden mysteries within... All things considered, excellent update!
  10. Currently a bit lost about what to do, having finally got my quest cape back. Anyone got any recommendations? semi-valuable stuff I have - 4.5 mill, dharocks, d legs, whip, penance torso Have made most of my money recently using MtK.
  11. I've always enjoyed runecrafting though The removal of Pking kind of spoiled the fun for me, so I have been crafting less of late. As far as I can tell, most of this seems to be yet another consequence of the removal of the macroers. Rising prices for yews means fewer bows being made, so fewer alchs needed, hence the drop in nat prices. The link between autoers and ess prices is pretty self explanatory. As for a solution? That's where it gets difficult. The only thing I can see, short of removing trading restrictions again, would be a pretty hefty skill rebalancing - increasing speed of primary skills, rebalancing alch prices, tweaking exp values etc which may well end up causing a lot more harm than good. In the meantime, I think I'll stick to deaths and MTK...
  12. I've seen a few not posted yet: Snowballs are absolutely massive when wielded. Legs also go through cape when smelting. The top of Legends cape disappears under base clothing. Also, anyone else find Al Karid INSANELY bright when you teleport there, if you're looking downwards its like a wall of yellow
  13. ok, thanks for your help! i guess I've got some training to do....
  14. I tried to start this quest with my slayer and woodcutting levels boosted but it didn't work. Do I need to get them both up or is it just one of them? Thanks in advance!
  15. I admire Jagex in doing this update, i never thought they would have the courage to take this big a step, I just don't think it is the right idea. The GE, I can live with, though it does take most of the life out of trading. Staking, I am slightly sorry to see go. I was never a big staker but I usually enjoyed myself there. I was never even a big PKer but I did somethimes go out, fairly noobish gear, some sharks etc. Even though it was never exactly high stakes for me, I always found PKing the most exciting part of runescape, indeed of any video game. One thing that really effects me though is RCing. I have been RCing for a long time, and really enjoyed it, some of the most fun I've had on RS has been trying to evade RC pkers. I did one run today, in my best gear (not really saying much) and the rush was gone, no excitment, just a long, dreary stretch of mindless running... PS I apologise for the "wall of text"
