  1. I'm wondering if this means the end of Bounty Hunter. No need to confine everyone to some pit in the wilderness when there's no room for RWT whatsoever. Never was much of a pker myself, but this sounds as close to a win-win for Jagex as they can get. All that remains to be seen is what specifically the players drop. If it's anything like the Revenant style of "loot", prepare for more rants. Being a quest-caper, I'm naturally excited about the promised "highest level, longest, most exciting quest ever." I'm sure there will be much speculation for the rest of the year up until release. I'm sure this "old-school" approach to PKing will bring back a good number of the lost members.
  2. Personally, Junk Trading annoys me to no end. Admittedly, many of Jagex's set prices for items are off by a wide margin, but I don't see what is essentially a Black Market as the solution. I simply don't see what you accomplish by flouting the limits set forth in the effort to keep the game alive. I don't see a reason why Jagex would possibly condone Junk Trading, but then again some decisions don't make much sense from the top.
  3. There's no such thing as a non-elitist community, really. Out in the real world, everywhere from civilised cities to tiny villages out in the most remote areas you can imagine, there are "elites" in the social structure. Of course, not everything applies to Runescape as it does outside. However, this does. The simple fact that there is a highscores table to differentiate between others in terms of level and rank proves this. How one of those "elites" deals with their stature, is up to them. They could be reclusive, keep to a tight knit group of friends and enjoy their time with them. They could be blatantly antisocial and look down on everyone else. There are also those who embrace their "fame", and choose to participate in forums and the like as a normal player, which they are. You also assume that all of these players spend all of their free time on Runescape. Simply because a person could possibly manage to attain maxed stats in a short period of time, doesn't mean they all do. Many people have played for years upon years, entirely sufficient time to get all those stats at a slower pace than normal. I seriously doubt that Jagex ever contact those high-levelled players simply due to their status. Although admittedly it would be a nice touch to get a congratulations through your game inbox for maxing out all stats.
  4. That does change my view about the subject quite a bit. Jagex do seem to have covered the majority of the items that you might want to lend to a friend. Personally now I'll be anticipating the update and getting ready to try out a nice Godsword.
  5. Alright, so apparently I've made a mistake. Before I posted that I had a quick check of the forums to see any official posts about it, couldn't find any. If you could find exactly where they stated which items it would affect, it would help.
  6. There's such an extensive list of items that while not desirable to you, might be to someone. Even if you only count items which can't simply be traded normally, you're talking near hundreds of weapons and armours. It's possible that Jagex will limit the lend function to specific items but there are too many unconventional items that you might want to get a loan of for this to be plausible. If indeed Jagex do limit lending to the higher end items then there will be numerous complaints from people who simply want to loan items which are stuck in that purgatory between the trade limit and the lendable items list.
  7. The logic behind your thinking might just be true, but then again it can go either way. If someone has the money for a specific item, and they borrow said item from their friend to test it out for a period. They could either decide they don't like it, or it's not worth the pricetag, thereby lessening demand. They could also decide that it is actually worth all that money and buy it, increasing demand. This could also apply to those who dream of having some expensive item one day, then get a loan of it from a friend. They could like it so much they'll work hard for weeks or months to buy it, and feel entirely satisfied with their purchase. Much of the Runescape economy is so messed up it's entirely impossible to predict price shifts. The only thing certain is that Jagex will not let incredibly high-priced items rise by much more. Therefore, the only way is down. Jagex truly do want to give their players the freedom they crave with updates like this, so I'm sure most, if not all tradable items will be able to be lent. Given their track record of late, Jagex will also bug test the hell out of this, creating every scenario imaginable to make sure your items are safe. Personally though, I'm not going as far as trusting them until at least a day after the update. From what I've read and heard of the coming update, it will begin to sound a return to regulated freedom, however much of an oxymoron that is. I think this update might come out around August I'd assume. Combined with the coming graphical level, we might just entice a few of the old hands of Runescape back into the game.
  8. All skillcapes deserve respect. They show that you've set yourself a lofty goal and accomplished it. Most are simply looked down upon because of their relative ease compared to others or the fact that they are slightly more common than the rest. I won't bore you by listing my most "respected" capes in order of merit, but although I don't feel as awe-struck by someone in an untrimmed cooking cape than by someone with a runecrafting or slayer cape, I do feel happy that they set themselves a goal and accomplished it. Whether it takes them 2 weeks or 2 years, they should feel proud. I own a quest cape and a fletching cape, one resides in my bank whilst the other is locked up in my house. I'm slightly more proud of my quest cape than of the fletching, not because I found one easier or quicker, but because I have to continually maintain my quest cape, whilst I haven't actually found myself doing any fletching at all for the past year. Basically, all skill capes are created equal. They're signs of sticking to your dreams whether you avidly sought 99 in that skill or just found yourself with it as a by-product of something else.
  9. Well done on the recent mystic Geh. You all need to step up a gear, can't let Alpha win now can we? :shame: Can't wait until you all start going for the dragon drops. Multiple visage pictures. Good luck to all of you, still a hell of a long way to go.
  10. Oddly enough I had the same thought as you the other day. Really, I hope that they will be. I don't feel like being segregated from all my friends if I decide to use this new detail and they don't. There are obvious limitations with Java, but Jagex just push back those boundaries with every update. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they managed to allow all 3 detail levels to co-exist just as the current 2 do.
  11. On the whole, level 3 clues -for all the hassle they take to do sometimes- are worth doing. During the course of my slaying, I'll end up with at least a clue every 2 tasks. This leads me to do a lot of clues, some good, some bad. Sometimes they do get rather frustrating, but perseverance pays off and in the end you get something mildly acceptable. Personally I've hit a minor lucky streak with slayer drops and clues at the moment, so I might be slightly biased. See me in a few weeks after dozens of rune pickaxes and mahogany benches and I might've changed my tune. For now though, I'll defend the status of the clue scroll as a training break and a slight money maker.
