  1. Doesn't appear to work. I see a big 1, and then the help and support shows up in the taskbar... :-s
  2. Thanks for trying, but the problem is that, whenever I try and do that, properties won't show up. Like, I would have done that when it first occured, but it the properties window only appears in the taskbar. Almost appears as if it is minimized, only it just doesn't appear. And yes, I did remove the virus, only it corrupted my brothers game and he wanted it fixed. I asked online and followed the directions which others gave. So now I've got this problem.
  3. Ok, so it all started yesterday, when my brother said that he downloaded a map pack with a virus for Dawn of War and his game wouldn't start. I placed in the xp disc and tried to fix it, but ended up wiping the hard drive. I got everything working, and then my brother decided to complain that his pointer went slightly off of the right side of the screen. So back to work I went, I did some research and tried messing with the monitor. One option which someone said was to check the button in the properties menu that said "extend my monitor onto this screen" I clicked it and the screen loaded and I had all my icons, and everything, but the wallpaper looked centered; it had a light blue border around it. It didn't seem like a big deal. I went into properties to change it back and it wouldn't pop up. I noticed that I could see that it was running in the taskbar, but it looked like it was floating off to an un-viewable area of the screen. So then I went into propeties to change it - same thing happened, I could only see it in my taskbar. I restarted my computer and previously I had my computer set to make it so a disc would boot up first, so I changed it back. I then loaded windows and it said that windows did not start properly. I did it again, same results. Restarted, and it loaded. Now I don't have any icons, and still, I won't get any windows to veiw. Please help! I want to rip out my hair now! EDIT: I did a system restore and now I don't even have a taskbar... :wall:
  4. Hey everybody. I was browsing the internet, and I came to the subject of hooking your monitor to your computer through a DVI cable. Numerous websites claimed that the DVI cables deliver a clearer picture. So I said to myself, might as well give it a shot, and I pulled out my DVI cable, hooked it up, and it started beautifully. The problem is, when it got to the portion where windows is loading, the signal was lost. If I'm desperate, I'll just change back to the other cables, but I would really prefer if I could get this working. Also, I did restart it a few times - with no success. Some say to change it so the DVI is my primary display. My question is, if that doesn't work, how am I to change it back? Thanks!
  5. I'm considering getting counter strike for the pc. But before I do so, I have a few questions: -Is there a difference between Counter Strike & Counter Strike Source? -Which is the game that everyone plays on? -Is Counter Strike Source a standalone game or expansion pack? -I've heard a lot about the program steam - will it allow me to directly download the game to my computer, or does it ship the game to me when I purchase it? -What is the connection between counter strike and half life? -With my goal being to play online, what should I buy? Thanks! :D
  6. Hi everybody. I recently heard of the new program, Joost, by the creators of Skype. This program allows the viewing of live TV, directly through the internet. It's in its beta stages now, and I would really like to try it out on my own. ' So my question is, did anyone by any chance get a beta invitation? If you could send me an invitation to test it out, that would be super cool. :D Thanks. If this sort of thing isn't allowed, let me know.
  7. Wait- you updated the thread, is there still a problem, or is it all fixed?
  8. Well that's not good news to me. Right now I'm skeptical to download Vista, so I'm using Xp. If Xp is discontinued, that means that most new cool games will NOT work on Xp. What I'll prob do is download Fedora, or Ubuntu.
  9. Scan for Viruses, defragment your computer and get more ram. You're computer should run fine after that. How Disk Defragmentor Works: http://computer.howstuffworks.com/question548.htm Where to find Disk Defragmentor: Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defgragmentor How Ram works: Picture yourself painting a house. The Store-shed (hard drive) is 2 miles away. Each time you leave the store shed, you bring one can of paint (Ram). Now think- The more ram you have, or in this case, the more paint you bring from the store-shed, the quicker your job will get done.
