  1. First off, I didn't hear or learn about this game from Miniclip, so you might as well stop there. I already have this discussion going on in the Debate Club, so I won't bother answering it except in a nutshell. Skills are what sets Runescape apart from other things. Not anything PvP. Geez, you people are starting to sound like small children. I won't wait, I don't wanna, I don't care, I hate everything, PKing won't be back for 6 months at the most, that's too long, I'll be old, I won't play, I'll be dead, yammer yadda yoodle. Anyone hear the phrase that Anticipation is half the fun of something? The other have would be the actual thing you're waiting for, but that saying is true even if you don't realize it. Speculating about things and trying to figure out what it will be like is sometimes better than the actual thing, or maybe even always. Take Summoning as an example. JaGex is putting a lot of hype on it, half the threads in the forum are about it. I betcha once its out for a month or so that hype will just die right down. And guess what, I don't hate PKing, not in any way. Just what PKing has become, an obsession, something not good. Is it wrong to have an obsession within an obsession? (PKing within Runescape) In fact, I think PKing is vital to the economy. I should say was vital though. When one business grows, other businesses grow to support it. Pking grew, they needed potions, Herblore grew. They needed food, Cooking and fishing grew. If they need armor, mining and smithing right up there. If they're mages or rangers, fletching and runecrafting. I don't hate PKing, but its removed, and I'm dealing with it. If skills were removed, I'd learn to deal with it.
  2. Right, first off, that's completely off the topic of skills, Pking, or Runescape at all. I just mentioned smart people generally spell well. And it says you're from Australia, so clearly you speak English as your native language, unless I'm a moron who knows squat about Australia. Now back to the topic anyone?
  3. All right then, we've proved I can never write anything good... Well Qeltar, that sort of makes sense... As do Magekillr, you're exactly the type of person I was talking about. People complain and riot and beg to have the Old Wilderness, or even just single PKing back, and boom. There it is. As Qeltar brought up, it won't be the same way, but it'll be back. Here come the replies..."OMG U stupid nub, we like teh old wildy.." Well guess what people, THINGS CHANGE! And I just noticed something Qeltar. I said bring Pking back, I didn't say bring the old way of Pking back, if I did, I didn't mean it.
  4. But that's the point, sure it will be a while until it comes. But get this? It's actually coming! People just are too impatient, don't read, or think Jagex is terrible no matter what they do. They would say that if every update from this day until December 31 next year was awesome in nearly everyone's opinion. They're just angry.
  5. That's another thing, no one seems to realize that to the company that makes the game, them getting paid is more important then the game itself. If they're losing money off of Real World Trading, then they'll want to remove it. Some might argue they're losing money from upset PKers leaving, some of them being members. Well, obviously Real World Trading hurt them more than a few memberships. None of us really know. Back to the subject...?
  6. Right, its not like I thought PKing was a bad part of the game, JaGex just removed what most people think of it as. I think right now, PKers aren't upset so much about the removal of the Old Wilderness, and upset about how its not here, back, AND NOW! Notice the rioters, all they want is PKing back, they usually say now as well. Yeah, I know this was posted a week afterwards, but think about how quickly Jagex responded to the riots. I doubt any of them read it, cared, or just thought like kingdomzero, "It's gonna be bad, since Jagex is bad!" Don't play the game then, we'd be better off without all the whiners.
  7. Did Upset PKers after the December 10 updates even read news posts afterwards? Just curious, since many of them are saying that PKing is ruined forever, and Bounty Hunter is sttttuuupppiiiiid. However, this comes from a newspost on December 17, the first thing on the newspost as well. So, there you have it. Not minigame, Combat Area. That means that PKing IS coming back, Jagex somehow did listen to all the protests, and they will "Bring PKing Back" as many shout. Just not like THAT! *Snaps fingers* What I'm saying is probably not as many people would be as upset as they are if they realized Player vs Player, as Jagex calls it, is coming back.
  8. Hate to break it to you, but smart people generally spell well. I agree with Zierro. He's putting what I tried to say with all my rambling and nonsense into something that isn't nonsense or rambling. You're saying, I have 37 million XP in Combat, well guess what? Combat isn't removed. Just a type of combat, as Zierro said, was changed. Sly wants the skills gone, not changed, not replaced, not in any way having any consolation for their removal. However, the removal of a PKing Wilderness, has Bounty Hunter, Duel Arena, Duel Tournaments, and did any of you arguing actually read one of Jagex's news posts clearly stating that there would be a NEW PvP area? (Note, they did say PvP...) If that's your opinion on spelling, then I won't bring it up. Yeah, the reason you trained your stats is gone. BUT YOUR STATS THEMSELVES ARE NOT! Sorry for all caps, but it seems like the only way to get through to you.
  9. Um...The only way this could possibly work is if they went wild on Runescape's programming. For example, they make things much more interactive and whatnot. For example, I had an idea where, if this war happened and no one got "banned" or anything like that, where perhaps there's a call for all high level F2Pers to go to some random spot, such as Falador, and close one of the gates, demolish the ways to climb up or into Falador, seal off Dwarven Mines, and more or less shutting themselves in, gaining levels slowly, and eventually unleashing themselves onto the world. To build up food supplies, or perhaps if Fletching is f2p by some point in this, make arrows, you could get a very high level fisher to make fishing spots temporarily. (I'm just spouting nonsense here, so bear with me) Then, in an epic Battle, F2P gains control of all F2P lands, Karamja, and makes a bulge within the Member lands, the members lose ground... Or something similar. All p2p make a quick strike of near doom on all things F2P, pretty much wiping out anyone strong or smart. All that'd be left would be just a bunch of low levels, or possibly high levels, hiding out in my suggested sealed off areas, slowly gaining levels, forging armor, yadda yadda yadda. The "War" could go whatever way you just chose to think that it would. ^^^ Above, good point.
  10. See here Sly, its not a gigantic hassle to remove Pking from the game. Pking isn't what sets Runescape apart from any other MMORPG out there, its the skills that do. I submit to you that most people, as I've said before, use those skills to make a living, or as an aid as to how they actually do make their living. (Fletching, Smithing, Fish for food in Combat...etc). Zierro has a point. They'd flash the whole banks out, eliminate logs, ores, fish, bars, make a big hassle in the programming to redesign combat so that everything would drop some form of armor or weapon, and so much more, not to mention wiping hiscores and skills in those high scores. Tutorial Island, totally different. All mining sites, trees, fishing spots, fishing icons, mining icons, all gone. Tutors also gone. The game would seem empty. The main part of Runescape is not PKing. At all. I hadn't even heard of the wilderness for about two weeks of playing. I had however, heard about fishing, mining, and woodcutting. That's what I mainly did. Probably many other newbies starting out did the same thing.
  11. I was more talking about the people clustered around it, but yeah I guess. That's the thing about Runescape, you really can't have humor anymore without people assuming you're deathly serious. *Sigh*
  12. And where I go, WH00TZ 2ND POST! But really, I thought the clans article was good, but I especially liked the last article. Made me really wish we had those trades back again.
  13. Ok, all that I can understand. What about if someone Joked around a bit, saying if one of their friends or something showed up, and they were famous or high leveled of some sort, and said, oh such and such, lets spam him! And afterwards saying lol. People would obviously take this the wrong way, what if they thought you really were some jerk trying to break rules, where in fact you were just trying to make a joke? I've known people practically banned for this.
  14. Exactly what the title says. Could a joke be considered as Encouraging Others to Break Rules, such as in the joke? Just curious.
  15. A level five partial skiller is around some Macroers. This happened around August. Level 5: Hey can I join your woodcutting clan? Level 5: (PMing Macroer) Can I be in ur woodcutting clan? And on and on. Sorrowfully, that was me. :anxious:
  16. Hey Sly, taken a look at your skill levels recently, you know, the ones that you're ranked in in the high scores, in every category? Guess what? You're not ranked in any of the PKing replacements! Could this possibly mean that even YOU consider skills more important than PKing? Mostly I was surprised you were ranked somewhat high in the skills you suggested to be removed. And as previously stated, not ranked in anything Player Killing related.
  17. Oh, ok then, That makes perfect sense! (Not) Sure, nobody smiths Rune, good for them. You cancel out mining (and thereby smithing), then any smithable armor that doesn't have a random spawn point anywhere, or is dropped for some odd reason by a monster, you guessed it, DISCONTINUED! In that case, if Jagex truly did remove Smithing, Mining, Woodcutting, Fishing...They'd have to change tutorial Island for one, the entire first part wouldn't be possible. All the trees in Runescape, well, they have no purpose, and must be eliminated. :x Then all the mining spots are gone, furnaces and anvils removed, it'd be a different landscape practically. With PKing removed, the Wilderness looks pretty much the same, except with the new additions. There we have it. It doesn't seem like what I was trying to say, but I guess in a way it is. Skills truly are essential. PKing was not. I don't know of many f2p people who became members solely to PK. I'm sure there are some, but probably more came on for the skills, the extra skills, the new skills. Even the skills they already had, in your case, fishing, mining, and woodcutting.
  18. The Exact same could be said of PKing you realize, which is the whole point of your argument of course. I'm assuming you are a member, yes? If you are, then what you say is true. However, if you are F2P, then its the opposite. I don't know of very many things that drop Rune items (the highest armor in F2P obviously.) However, by using mining and smithing, you can get this armor. Also including rune weapons, the most powerful weapon you could get in F2P. As for fish, the generally accepted best food to eat in F2P is you guessed it, fish. Sharks for the members. There goes a major source of food, generally liked because it only takes one bite to eat. Also, you stated that Fletching is useful. Fletching is a direct product of woodcutting, which you suggested to remove. More or less, if you are a member, then this would make perfect sense. If you are F2P, its the biggest load of nonsense you ever heard most likely, since most F2P do use these skills.
  19. What I meant was that if you removed, as you suggest, major money makers, and therefore major macroers, Woodcutting, Fishing, and Mining, you might as well just remove things that come from mining, so there goes smithing, a large part of crafting, and runecrafting as well. There's one quest gone, and 6 skills by your theory. Ok, 5.5 skills. No, there are plenty of quests taken out by this too. No more Knight's Sword Quest, Rune Mysteries, and Doric's Quest. Then remove Woodcutting, most of Firemaking's gone, and fletching is gone as well. 7.5 skills now. Take out fishing, then cooking is changed by how most people train cooking, but otherwise it is about the same. Plus, even if you removed those, Macroers would merely shift to the next skill, that is, if there are any left after that would happen if you would make it so. Skills are needed to the game, you wouldn't have Runescape without skills. You CAN however, have a game without PKing. Some might argue just the opposite. But skills, especially those three, are what many Runescapers do for a living. PKing was a minority of people who made a living off of it.
  20. Well if 6 million people PKed, and did absolutely nothing, no skills, no nothing, just being in the Wilderness 24 hours a day, getting all their supplies and money from killing things or hiring people to go back into where people can not PK each other, where of course he would never go. 6 million people. No... You're telling me that only 2 million people don't PK? If you're trying to say that 6 million people HAVE at one time in their Runescape career PKed someone, then probably that is true. PKing is an optional part of the game. A lot of you wanting those skills removed would say the same for those skills, I'm sure. I would be upset if all those skills were removed, since that's what I mostly do. That's how it would be. You PKers are upset because PKing is what you normally do. If those skills were removed, those who used the skills would be upset. The people who never PKed don't really care about the wild, the people who never skilled don't really care about the skills. Quite frankly, I think both of them were sort of needed for Runescape. Maybe not needed, very much wanted and appreciated. But with the removal of the Wilderness as everyone knew it caused much less of things probably all of you may have complained about one time or another, such as Macroers.
  21. Remove Fishing, Woodcutting, and Mining. Greeeaaaaatttt Plan there. I'll probably just be repeating other things already said, but here goes. If you remove fishing, there goes a good source of getting food for sure. People would have to resort to eating cakes, pies, pizzas, and the like. If you were a cook, then this would be an advantage to you. Anyone else, probably not. Remove Woodcutting, yeahhhhh no. I for sure admit that most macroers, and thereby Real Word Traders, woodcutted, but that's no reason to remove it. Woodcutting is needed for both fletching and firemaking, well, not entirely needed for Firemaking, but pretty essential. And last but not least, mining. If you can't mine, you would either have to kill monsters or buy all of your weapons and armor. People who generally smith or mine for a living would be in an uproar. What about the people who have high levels in those skills? (Fletching, Woodcutting, Firemaking, Mining, Smithing, and Fishing, possibly Cooking for those who only cook fish and refuse to cook anything else.) And if you couldn't mine, you certainly couldn't get rune ess, and there goes Runecrafting. While we're at it, Crafting would probably be mostly gone too, all you would have is leather. Sure, you could buy runes, but probably most people would rather make it themselves and save some money. Well, not most people. But from Rune Stores? Really, why? Your theory of removing those skills from the game is just..well...kind of not able to happen. PKing wasn't a skill, and while a lot of people did that for a living, even more so use skills. Yeah, if skills were removed instead of PKing, there would probably be a bigger uproar than there is now. But there might be some people who could learn to deal with it. New accounts would never have known the skills of Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, Smithing, Fletching, Firemaking, Runecrafting, and seriously changed Crafting and Cooking. So, in closing, getting rid of these skills and bringing back PKing is not such a good idea in My Opinion. And before anyone accuses me of being a no good, rotten skiller, who never knew what PKing was like, well, that's a lie. I did PK a little, and quite frankly I miss it a little, but not enough to quit the game. The same should be true of anything removed from the game, because after all, if your favorite thing was removed, and yet there was still plenty of other things that you enjoyed, is it enough of a reason to quit a good game?
  22. I've never quite encountered all these noobs as the rest of you had. Probably once I get a trillion more levels, then maybe I can get these GREEEAAATTT encounters. (Sarcasm) I had one, a long while back. This noob said he was giving away 500k, and a bunch of us followed him. Noob: Ok to get 500k we play the trust game. Me: I was right, its a scam. (I left at this point. Curious to see what was still happening, I found everyone else still milling about. Apparently he forgot to get the 500k...Never came back. One guy lost a rune 2h...Not really funny, or long, but Its all I got.) Well, there was the one time when I was called a noob, not newb, for being level 5 combat. Understand, I had joined not that long ago plus the fact I considered myself a mega skiller at that point. I was cutting willows in Lumbridge at the time. Why can't people find the difference between 3 letters? (oo same letters)
  23. Quite frankly, I have just one question on this whole thing...As I said before, there was a ridiculously small/weak and pathetic party of late Tipiters and we all massed just over the crest of the hill by Ruined Castle. We all logged off to try to get on 61 (Horrible person I was) and I couldn't get on, got back to 62, and wouldn't you know, at least 50 Red Caped people swarming the whole area. Were they all, like, swooping the near worlds? Other than that, this was probably awesome, especially when Tipit won...
  24. I shall go ahead and bet that pretty much no one knew what was going on. Everyone on Runescape Community is calling all of Tipit a load of rogues and mages, everyone in Tipit just killed each other for no reason, me included. I'm sort of hoping someone who really knew what went on and knows why will come on and say, yet doubtful.
  25. The Best Part was the spoils though, I got like 7 amulets out of it...
