  1. That's from the Holy Grail quest. They point to a place west of Brimhaven, which you use to teleport to the Fisher King's realm.
  2. I apologize if I'm coming off as a wannabe mod, but yes, there is already a thread about this. It died off, and degenerated into less meaningful comments and more people jumping in without reading. There are a few good ideas in there (most likely not mine :D ), and it's worth a read if people want to see some detailed theories. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=757103 My hunch, however, is that nobody will read that. So, these are my thoughts: There are three major stories that could lead to an epic: --The Elven Series (honestly, from the way people talk about it, you'd think MEP3 would bring the wildy back. WoM maybe linked...) --The Stone of Jas (much speculation about it, ties loosely with RC guild, WoM, Lucien, Dorgeshuun, ToG. Lots of possibilities...) --The Gnomic Series (strong connection with dwarves, it's got its own prophecy, and the prophecy sounds quite epic to me....) So, in that case, we should plan three epic quests, and figure out which ones are plausible. ELF EPIC We have foiled the Mourners' attempts to summon Zamorak/Zaros! (Gah, I can never remember which one. I apologize if I have slighted them.) For the time being, that is. We stopped them from gaining access to the Temple of Light, which had powerful energies. These powerful energies would be used to summon (deity). However, there is more than one source of epic power in the world, so the Mourners may keep looking... hey, what's this "Eye of Saradomin"/"Stone of Jas"? Hmm, and the Mourners set off for that. This ties into the Jas epic, so let's try another approach. The Wise old Man is attempting to raid Priffdinas! O NOES! Will you help him steal scrolls of knowledge, or will you aid the city guard in stopping him? Consider: you've helped the WoM before. Consider: The city is against Lleyta. I think you'll end up helping him enter the city. But how will that work? Given the powers of the WoM, and the difficulty of the task, you'd be more harm than help (the plans make it seem like it's WoM and maybe you vs. The whole city, and it's a hit-steal-run mission). I'm sorry, I can't see a MEP3 working out as an EPIC. It will be there, but most likely not as THE EPIC. GNOME EPIC The Arposandrans have connections with the Red Axe, we know that. Hazelmere has prophesized, however, the forces of evil coveneing in the north. You and your friend sneak in under disguise, and do something bold and daring. This could happen in tons of different ways. But remember: it has to start from Arposandra. Given what has just happened, it seems that the next step is dispelling Arposandra's illusion, or invading through the sewers, or something. However, going through the sewers will involve the RED BUTTON.... again. That can't happen. So how do you think we could transport an entire machine into the tunnels, (let alone obtain another one), switch it on, and NOT have Glouphrie's servants switch it off as we enter the main city? It seems to stretch the bounds of fantasy. I'm a bit stuck here. JAS EPIC How many people are looking for this? Lucien, for one. Wizard Elriss, for two. Either Simon Templeton or the Wise old Man, for three (I believe WoM, but we don't know.) And, as mentioned above, possibly the Mourners. Something is going to happen. Perhaps Lucien's followers will stop hanging around that agility course, and start moving against Juna. Perhaps enough people will have played GoP for Elriss to track it to the Tears of Guthix. ("That snake Juna guards more than she knows", the stone is in the area of the Dorgeshuun. Ergo, the stone is in the Tears of Guthix.) Perhaps the Wise Old Man or the Mourners, using their own mysterious methods, track it down. Either way, I can see a few for this to start: a) Juna asks you to help her defend the Tears of Guthix from (insert raider here). B) (insert raider here) realizes that you have access to the Tears, and asks you to do something special while you're there next. c) You encounter (insert raider here), figure out what they're doing, and either offer to help (a la option B) or warn Juna (a la option a). I'm stuck here. You and Juna vs. The Raiders? You and The Raiders vs. The Godblessed Juna? You sneak in, gather info, and steal it for yourself? What are y'all's thoughts? Anyways, which epic do you think will occur, and why? What do you think will happen? I hope I haven't rambled too much, and I hope I provided something thoughtful that people will listen to.
  3. Wear the highest-level circus clothes you have, and do what the audience asks you. Juggling is also good, and remember to do fancy emotes.
  4. Distractions and Diversions seem to be just random events, but the fact that they have a special name suggests that the old random events will be no more... And, of course, the three they listed are probably not the only ones out there. I, for one, will miss the old events, but these sound awesome. I'm not very much into PvP, so the Clan Wars update doesn't affect me much, but any update like this should be good. And to all those people complaining about unlootability; come on! They said you couldn't loot when they mentioned it last month! And if you could loot, RWT much? There'll probably be one of those "random reward" things for killing people in a risky environment, though. Otherwise people wouldn't use it. Summer's End? Only two parts to the Summer series? Oh well. Still, I look forward to it. And people seem to be missing something: I know you combat peoples won't like it, but it'll add some variety to boss fights. Hmm, what will that be like? And they said "the rewards and the family's heartwarming smiles will definitely be worth it." I, for one, would like a stronger ring. Spirit realms are fun, even if they are a bit impractical. You guys think WAY too much about materialism and XP. : And, of course, another big quest. We'll have to fight an undead Arrav, probably, and use his shield to defend Varrock. It'll certainly require All Fired Up, possibly you have to have lit and tested some of them too. (6 seems like the right number for this; it's not the epic quest, it doesn't need epic reqs.) And remember the Chaos anagrams? "Varrock is under attack." Well, that's fairly clear. But: "Legends must rise again." Does that mean Legend's Quest II, or does it mean Arrav coming back? Hmmm.... by the way, has anybody here played the new Funorb game: "Zombie Dawn"? Y'all expect too much. Two big bossy quests, a rework of the whole random events system, AND a massive improvement to a PvP minigame? And that's not enough? This is a slow, lame month?!
  5. The elder gods were the ones who created and abandoned the plane of RuneScape (Such as Andrew, Paul, and Jas), and then Guthix came and gave it shape. The Stone of Jas and the Eye or Saradomin are speculated to be the same thing, because it was the WIZARDS who named it the "Eye of Saradomin", and they like to stamp Saradomin's name on everything. They're speculated to be the same because the people who are searching for the Stone of Jas speak in the same way as Wizard Elriss when they talk about how they're looking for it.
  6. Monkey Madness 2 is already out. It's called RFD: Saving Awowogei.
  7. I saw the "penultimate", but I don't think that an EPIC quest would be the completion of a series; it seems more likely to be a sequel to a little-known quest, like Cook's Assistant. Or, it has reqs for further on in a series, but doesn't advance their storyline much, like Legend's reqqing Underground Pass. Consider: did Legend's quest advance ANY storylines? Did RFD advance ANY storylines? Not really. Additionally, there is a clear-set plotline for the next quest; it involves freeing Zanik from the box. Is that related to Lucien's followers in Dorkesh-kaan? Not really. Finally, the blood altar fits with the vampire series. The death altar fits with the plague series. But the soul altar doesn't really fit with the Dorgesh-kaan series. I would put it in either the Glouphrie series (anima mundi = soul of the world) or the Scabarite series (the latest altars seem to be on extremeties of the map). On the trapdoor point: I agree. Has there been ANY hidden door or trapdoor like that which has been opened? If so, has it opened in a quest? Hmm? I didn't think so. (I love hypothetical arguments without somebody responding; you can pretend that facts you don't remember don't exist. ) So no, it won't grow out of a trapdoor or mithril door or frozen door or something like that.
  8. I hope that people can read threads before posting in them, I get the feeling that there's plenty of discussion about the stone in previous pages and people should build on it instead of restating it. The Stone of Jas could drag Lucien, the followers of Armadyl, Wizard Elriss, the WoM, and the cave goblins together, but it's hard to imagine the Arposandran gnomes, the Mourners, the vampyres, or the Red Axe getting involved. The subquest thing would be nice, but if the Stone of Jas is involved, how would that be set up? A number of different parties searching for it, and you need to do something with each one individually? Seems a bit shaky to me.
  9. Monkey Madness/Glouphire: Have you compeltely forgotten that Glough would only work for gnomes (xenophobic brat that he is), AND that he serves a higher master? Duh, he works for Glouphrie's successor. Glouphire/Mourning's Ends connection: Elven technology was given to the gnomic architects. There is a connection between the elven race and the good gnomes. There is not much of a connection between Mourners and Arposandrans. By the way, did you know that it wasn't just created by Glouphrie, it is THE SEWER WASTE FROM THE CITY OF ARPOSANDRA?! -.- Glouphrie/Red Axe connection: Indeed. A well-known observation, but still good. Red Axe / Drakan connection: Well, Arposandra is underground, isn't it? I can see daeyalt ore going to the Red Axe, but seeing as the Red Axe are working with Arposandra, and Arposandra is the more magical city, I would guess that it's being refined in Arposandra, not Keldagrim. However, this does draw a connection. Mourner / Drakan connection: First of all, it is possible that it was a glitch with the daeyalt ore. Secondly, they both are mines and if the Mourners stumbled upon a magical ore, they would use it without ever having to know of the Drakans using it. Thirdly, even if you don't know where a talisman OR an altar is, you still might know it exists. Fourth, "blood talisman" is probably just the sort of thing that the dwarf would want (having an interest in death talismans), so would value highly as he says "Pretty please with a [highly-valued item] on top?" Fifth, the talisman was found in a columbarium at Paterdomus, not in Meiyerditch, so it's not even a direct Drakan connection. So, the fact that a dwarf who is unrelated to the Mourners, but has an interest in talismans, mentions the unknown blood talisman as a high-valued object, which comes from the same general area and series as the Drakans? Too weak. ----- My belief as to what is going on (not in the quest, but right now, leading up to it): There are a number of covert Zamorakians: Drakan, the Mourners, the Arposandrans (which include Glough), the Red Axe, to name a few, operating in the world. They may not be all conspiring together, but we know that the Arposandrans are conspiring with the Red Axe to do something devious (somehow involving chaos dwarves). We also know that the Mourners are on a grand mission to resummon Zamorak, and we don't know whether the Red Axe and Arposandrans are in on that. We have no idea at ALL what the Drakans are up to, except squashing the Myreque. I believe that the Drakans are doing just that; squashing the Myreque, and not doing too much devious plotting on the side. (There is, however, the matter of crossing the river and that conspiracy, but that appears to be non-Drakan.) Into all this steps your character. You are doing a lot against all four of these, and they do things to stop you. (Except the mourners; they haven't tried to stop you yet.) The Arposandrans make a scheme to depose Narnode, and you with him, with their representative Glough, and the monkeys. The Red Axe do the scheme with the Giant Dwarf. The Drakans have made you accidentally betray have the Myreque. And then Hazelmere prophesizes something big in the north. We don't know whether this big event in the north includes three of these four, two of them, one of them, all of them, or them and some more. I believe the prophecy will come true in this quest, and that the quest is a sequel to Forgettable Tale and the Path of Glouphrie. However, this trashes the whole Stone of Jas hypothesis. And it doesn't involve any cabbage. So it's most likely wrong. Oh well.
  10. Just because we've got a while to wait doesn't mean that we shouldn't speculate. A lot can happen in half a year, but in Runescape, it doesn't change fundamental history and things that have been already laid out. Consider: Half a year ago, it was mid-February. What's changed in terms of major storylines since then? Not much. Hear, hear! (of course, that doesn't apply well in my case, since I won't have the requirements even if I tried, but whatever.)
  11. Indeed, it has been already stated that the Stone of Jas/Eye of Saradomin is a very strong possibility for the basis of the quest. But thank you for the link. Eww... he smells that strong that you can smell him across realities? Yuch, what's he doing experiments on, the poison waste?! :D
  12. Well, it all depends on the quest's foundations. If it's the Hazelmere epic, it'll almost certainly give the soul altar. We know for a fact it'll give a lot of xp, no matter what it is. If it's MEP3, then it'll certainly give access to Priffidnas (though based on storyline, it could be like Meiyerditch.) However, I think MEP3 as the epic is unlikely. If it's the Jas epic, it'll probably give a Runecrafting benefit in some way, as well as a benefit to Tears of Guthix. The only thing we can know for sure is that we won't know for sure. Indeed; the requirements depend on what it is, and the reward depends on what it is, and we almost definitely can't know what it is, and we just have to peel every single thing they post for clues. They had better not keep this epic quest's identity a secret in the same way they kept Summoning a secret...
  13. I believe that would be the first time that a quest would require you to participate in a miniquest, minigame, or special area (special area being places with extra interface popping up; eg. FoG entryway, GWD, Wilderness, etc.) I doubt Jagex would do such a thing in a quest; maybe a miniquest, however. Still, you never know...
  14. RFD was the SEQUEL to cook's assistant, but it required a heck of a lot more to do the whole quest. I believe that a Stone of Jas epic would be a sequel to Tears of Guthix, and the Hazelmere phophecy epic would be a sequel to... eh... The Path of Glouphrie. --- Here, following, are a list of well-defined storylines. Tell me if I'm forgetting one. However, given the way our Stone of Jas and Hazelmere prophecies are seemingly unrelated, each of these quests seem to tie in to one epic or the other: Elemental Workshop -- Seems unlikely to be related to anything, probably just a line of smithing/magic quests Lunar Diplomacy -- Most likely to tie into the Stone of Jas epic. Dorgeshuun -- Most likely to tie into the Stone of Jas epic. Plague City -- Most likely to tie into the Hazelmere epic. Rise of the Red Axe -- Most likely to tie into the Hazelmere epic. The City of Arposandra -- Most likely to tie into the Hazelmere epic. Temple Knights -- Most likely to tie into the Hazelmere epic. The Myreque -- More likely to tie into the Hazelmere epic, but seems mostly unrelated to either. Spirit of Summer -- More likely to tie into the Hazelemere epic, but seems mostly unrelated to either. We can't have two epics, but two are definitely emerging. What's going on?
  15. Good point; I didn't remember that. However, she was chosen by Guthix to lead the goblins to a new destiny and a new realm, not to find the stone of Jas. A definite maybe. I apologize, I use the elves and the Mourners interchangably, as the lleytan elves don't seem to be too relevant. Everybody seems to think the elves are summoning Zamorak, so they're probably right. Trash the bit about Zaros. In fact, the energy source seems a bit unlikely as well. So trash the whole thing about elves. I just wanted it to be true so much... #-o We know that Arposandra has connections to the Red Axe, from Forgettable Tale. We know that daeyalt ore was being sent to a refinery in a "big underground city." We know that Arposandra AND Keldagrim are both underground, but I believe it's the former. We know that the chaos dwarves, the Red Axe, the Arposandran gnomes, Drakan, and the Mourners are all followers of Zamorak, planning something important. So is Glough, who may or may not be (an agent of) Glouphrie. And we know that Hazelmere is prophesizing something about these secretive Zamorakians up in the north. I'm a bit concerned; we seem to have a smaller, Stone of Jas, storyline being thought up, and at the same time, a much bigger EPIC QUEST showing up with these Zamorakians. Maybe the Epic quest involves Hazelmere's Prophecy with the elves, gnomes, and either dwarves or vampyres (I believe vampyres are the least likely), and the Stone of Jas idea is a figment of our imagination. Hmm.... We can't have two different epic mergers, can we?
  16. But Mahjarrat aren't the only important people here; the elves are trying to ressurect Zaros, as well. (btw, the camel guy: his name was Anakhamos or something like that.) Lucien's FOLLOWERS are hunting for it; probably meaningless, but a difference nonetheless. "That snake Juna guards more than she knows." The followers believe more than just the lumby cave network, they believe it's in the Tears of Guthix. And I imagine they're right. Also, note that the wizard's tower is nearby the lumbridge caves, though I think that's a coincidence. And so they could be. However, that's too many storylines to fit in to one quest, isn't it? Consider: the only ones who have stepped into the Stone of Jas picture are Lucien, Wizard Elriss, the Wise Old Man, and Juna (you could consider the cave goblins as well, but they're geographically related and that seems to be it. The elves have good reason to step in, and I believe they will, but they haven't been linked YET.) That's enough storylines wrapped into a quest that advances them (RFD took half the lines across the map, but it didn't do anything with any of them.) Something can happen with these four characters that doesn't involve everybody. About the white/temple knights: the only relation they have with this whole mess is being religious. And isn't everybody in Runescape mildly religious? About the scabarites: the only relation THEY have with this is being religious (see above) and being in the same general area as a few unrelated Mahjarrat. The elves have been revealed to be ressurecting Zaros (he is the Empty Lord, isn't he?), AND they are also revealed to be looking for a source of power. I believe that that is stronger connection with the rest. (Note: perhaps there is a Mourner-Arposandra-Meiyerditch link, as has been hinted in a few ways, but it doesn't seem that it'll be tied into the Stone of Jas, unless the Mourners look for the Stone as a power source to summoning Zaros.) I agree with all the points in that paragraph, so I'm not going to pretend to add valuable insight to it. :
  17. Does nobody remember the followers of Lucien, in the Dorgeshuun agility caves? They'd triangulated the Stone of Jas to somewhere around there, and from either the Oracle or them comes that "That snake Juna guards more than she knows." The Stone of Jas is either in the Dorgeshuun agility caves, or somewhere in the Tears of Guthix.
  18. Well, consider. The storyline of the elves is currently at follows: They are trying to summon Zaros, but you foiled their attempts at obtaining a power source. Now they need a new source of power to look for. Oh, hey! STONE OF JAS! ...I think it fits in, and Jagex knows we want a sequel to MEP2. But I agree that Guthixian Edicts and the Vampyres don't fit in with the Stone of Jas as easily as the elves. And we can't tie in that many storylines. Hmm... you've got a good point, maybe not an epic battle, but Hazelmere's prophesy sounds like it would fit in right at an epic quest. OGODNO 70 PRAYER SLAYER AND SUMMONING NONONONO PLEASE :D But seriously, epic doesn't mean insane.
  19. Thanks for the garden tip, but could you please list a reason or two as to why you think the vampyres and pirates will be in this quest?
  20. So our list of requirements is: --Desert Treasure --Swan Song --Rune Mysteries --Tears of Guthix --Mourning's Ends, Part II --Death to the Dorgeshuun --70 agility --70 strength --70 ranged --65 runecrafting It would be nice if we could have a unified, agreed-upon, Tip.It theory which we could add on to and develop, so can those who think (not hope) that it will be different in a major way speak up?
  21. You forgot the squirrels. Why are they wielding crossbows? I suspect they are also looking for the Stone of Jas, but the Penguins will stop them. OI! Did nobody remember the dust bunnies? They haven't been mentioned AT ALL, but you know they exist. The fact that you haven't heard of them just means they've been keeeping very quiet.... why? This is the NEW QUEST! (Oh, by the way, and suddenly an elven vampire will show up allied to a monkey and take you into priffdinas and unite all the storylines with a grand DEUS EX MACHINA.) ...not. Firstly, let's put this into condensed form. Yes, it looks like a lot, but consider that Jagex doesn't list things like that. They'd just say, "Lunar Diplomacy" and it would mean ALL of its requirements. So, let me put this list of requirements in JAGEX's form (BTW, you forgot Tears of Guthix, as it isn't a requirement of Death to the Dorgeshuun): [hide=List of Reqs]Garden of Tranquility Tears of Guthix Death to the Dorgeshuun Lunar Diplomacy 70 agility 70 strength 70 ranged 50 runecrafting[/hide] Now, tell me, does that look like a reasonably hard quest? Yes. Does it look like "a quest cape"? No. Not close. Also, for contrast, let's put the whole requirements for Recipe for Disaster (taking into account to remove quests that are required for another requirement): [hide=RFD Total Reqs]Cook's Assistant Fishing Contest Goblin Diplomacy Big Chompy Bird Hunting Murder Mystery Nature Spirit Witch's House Gertrude's Cat Shadow of the Storm The Lost City Family Crest Hero's Quest Shilo Village Underground Pass Monkey Madness Desert Treasure Horror From the Deep 70 cooking 48 agility 20 firemaking[/hide] Granted, I probably missed a repeat or two, but that's a much bigger list. And yet: No, it is not "Ability to buy a quest cape".
  22. Nobody ever said you'd get what you killed, in fact there was a discussion about how Jagex would value the rewards, albeit a small one. You should read as well....
  23. As many have speculated, the Stone of Jas is the same thing as the Eye of Saradomin, and the WOM and Wizard Elriss and followers of Lucien are all looking for it. It is most likely that this quest will follow that storyline, which means 70 agility will probably be a requirement. Additionally, remember that RFD, if you placed it in a series, was the "sequel" to Cook's Assistant? A giant quest as a sequel to some insignificant noob quest? Now, combine that with the fact that the followers of Lucien say that Juna guards more than she knows. I believe that the quest of epicness will be a sequel to Tears of Guthix. I believe this will NOT be "the quest to end all quests", I believe that it will take a few storylines, intertwine them a bit, and emerge making major progress to only one or two of them, as did RFD. If Jagex made all quests end, that would remove the appeal of the games to many, and Jagex would have effectively ENDED THE GAME. When you win, you stop playing. Jagex would not do that. It might be a major quest, like Legends, Desert Treasure, or RFD. It might be a high-level quest, like Devious Minds or Rocking Out or RFD. It might be a quite hard quest, like MEP2, Dream Mentor, or RFD. I believe it will be all three, but not the epic quest to end all quests. Indeed, that's why Jagex released quests with requirements of stats above 70 (Grim Tales, RFD, Back to My Roots), and in the high 60's (Rocking Out, Devious Minds), mildly often, and didn't hype them as much as this one. They DEFINITELY are preparing to make Sheap Shearer: PART 2! SHEAR FOURTY BALLS OF WOOL! AUGH SO HARD!
