  1. I've read and re-read all the sources of Summoning info I know, and so far, although they're fun, I can't see any real use for pets. Is there something incredibly big I'm missing, or have Jagex implemented a giant part of a skill with absolutely no reward?
  2. Back to what the original topic was about, I think that 52-82 (could be a better one between the two, but I doubt it): Spirit terrorbirds. It might be a bit heavy on the charms, though. 82-99: Spirit dagganoth seems best. Dagganoth hides might cost 1k, but you'd still be paying only 3 gp/xp, which is around construction. This means that for the hardest and longest bits, you get it as expensive as construction, but not much more.
  3. Looking in a new light, the beaver seems like it would be really sweet with the harvest tool, and possibly one of those "good uses". I'm just not sure about one thing: With a beaver, does the special move chop magic logs from a magic tree, or just normal logs from a magic tree? And do you need 75 Woodcutting? My intuition would say Yes, No, but that's such a great benefit that it's definitely false. I mean, it's not as if this is supposed to be a great skill with some nice rewards...
  4. Are you sure you don't mean: If you don't have 200,000,000 coins, don't bother getting the skillcape for it. By the time you've spent about 100mil, they'll probably have made a new update, making it so you only need to spent 50mil more. Just a guess, because it'll take a LONG time to get all the charms needed to use with 100mil's worth of shards.
  5. As sseli said, it's not useless for anybody below level 90. To list examples (unfortunately the good ones are all skill-based): Compost Mound: Level 28. It costs only 47 skill shards; 2.5K. Plus a green charm, and a bucket of compost. You can have this creature temporarily boost your farming level, by 1 if it's under 25, by 2 if it's from 25 to 75, and by 3 if it's over 75. It will also randomly create types of composts, and different seeds, which are quite useful when Farming (no der, you need seeds to plant something.) If you are OK with dealing it 2 damage each time, you can fill compost from it. Not only that, but it can fight, as a level 41. It's special move, perhaps the second best of its features (after the seed gathering), will fill a nearby compost bin with compost; that's 15 buckets. It might even do supercompost! For those with 1 or 2 green thumbs, and 1 or 2 green charms, this is extremely useful. -------------------- Beaver: Level 33. 72 spirit shards, a green charm, and some willow logs. That's 3.6k for the shards. All the time it's around, your woodcutting level is boosted by 2. It automatically generates logs at some rate near trees, and near magic trees, maybe magic logs. You can save one inventory space fletching, because it's used as a knife, and its special move quickly chops three logs. If you do it near magic trees (especially since you can repeat it without a new pouch), that compensates mostly for the cost, so it's not that expensive. --------- Macaw: Level 41. 4k's worth of materials (guam, 78 shards), and a green charm. (Does green charm mean skill-based?) It can gather an herb, and when it's around, you get herb drops more often. With the special move, you might generate an herb. Not nearly as good as the beaver, but worth mention. Also, you get the remote view, which seems cool. :P ======== Grr, after re-reading my post, I sound too much Jagex; making things out to be more than they are. They're good, but not THAT good. -.- I'm not saying the skill is good, let alone what they were making it out to be. I'm just pointing out that through the midlevels, it's not entirely useless. It's still useless in low levels, but when has any skill been really useful in the low levels? ++++++++++++++++++ BTW, since bloated toads are relatively easy to obtain, I think that barker toads are good for high-level training (must have level 66): 87 xp/500 gp: Just under 6 gp/xp. Then again, it's in such small increments/charm that I could be horribly wrong, having never trained a high-level skill.
  6. I'm running Kubuntu Linux Hardy Heron, version 8.04. On Firefox, version 2.0.0.10, after I did a big system upgrade (which is probably irreversible, unfortunately), I got a bug I'd had before, but don't remember how I got rid of: If Java 5 plugin files AND Java 6 plugin files are installed to Firefox, then neither version works. The problem is that if I uninstall version 6, then version 5 causes the problem anyway, because for some reason, it includes every version of the JRE from version 1.1 to 1.5_blah, or something like that. If I uninstall version 5, then version 5 stays on my computer, locked inside version 6 somewhere. My about:plugins page is as follows (right now,I have only version 6 installed, supposedly): Shockwave Flash File name: libflashplayer.so Shockwave Flash 9.0 r48 MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash swf Yes application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player spl Yes Java Plug-in 1.6.0_03-b05 File name: libjavaplugin_oji.so Java Plug-in 1.6.0_03 MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled application/x-java-vm Java Yes application/x-java-applet Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.1 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.1.1 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.1.2 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.1.3 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.2 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.2.1 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.2.2 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.3 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.3.1 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.4 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.4.1 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.4.2 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.5 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.6 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.6.0_03 Java Yes application/x-java-bean Java Yes .... There's more to that giant Java table, but it's all the same as the first half: just replace "applet" with "bean". Also, the "Suffixes" column is blank. The Yes is under enabled, and the Java is under Description. Anybody know what's wrong? Thanks.
  7. "If you get scammed, you're a moron." In the context, I assume you mean trade scams, because (before the updates) there were some pretty elaborate scams that anybody who's a bit new to the game could fall for. I remember one, in Brimhaven: Scammer: Hey, could you help me kill a tribesman? Me: Sure. *attacks tribesman, kills it easily, but gets poisoned* *poison hits 11* Me: Aak! *runs for dock, to ardy bank* Scammer: I have anti *trades, shows anti, doesn't accept, wasting more time* Me dies to a jungle spider, Scammer gets stuff If you don't know that tribesmen poison hard, that's easy to fall for. ----- Just like that, there are trade scams that can be easily fallen for. I bought an adamant axe for 20K once. I was in a hurry. Does that make me a moron? No. I'd say that's pretty harsh, to call everyone scammed a moron. Maybe you didn't lose anything of value, but I'm sure that when you were a newbie, you got scammed once or twice. Remember: we haven't all read the scamming guide, and scammers were constantly evolving more and more complex scams.
  8. 1) Awesome guide. I once tried training Jogres; a total mess. Your guide made it clear and great, to sound like one of those annoying commercials :)! 2) You can CTRL-click to run? Revolutionary!
  9. It IS summoning-related, because we can speculate on the fact that: 1) MAYBE this is a test for an engine where NPC's grab items 2) If so, then MAYBE NPC's in summoning will grab items in some way 3) Lots of different ways that could be helpful: speculations! Granted, it's a stretch, but it definitely is summoning-related. Also: 1) Those cleaners (MTA) clean things? What is there to clean? 2) Not all GD threads have to be about summoning, so not all non-summoning-related threads must be closed. 3) Who are you to declare when a thread is over? Wasn't this a PUBLIC forum?
  10. As I posted in the thread about the Chaos Elemental, the "anger unseats bacteria" is probably some order of the words "granite scarab use a net". When you realize that it must have "granite", "use", and "net" (the other anagram has no "t"s or "u"s), then it's just "bacaras", and I think "a scarab" fits best. What does this have to do with Summoning? I dunno, maybe it pointed to the new scarab quest.
  11. I'm really sorry if this has already been posted, but I got far on the first anagram. I don't know the word order, but I'm pretty sure the words are: scarab use a granite net Note that the other anagram has no "t" or "u", so I can be sure that "net", "use", and "granite" are in here. Remember, Jagex said that "net", "use", "granite", and "angry" are in them. This one has no "y", so "angry" is for the other anagram. If this has already been said, please put it on the front, so people like me don't clutter. ------------------------ I attempted the other, but all I got was "o shey beg angry drain", "big angry shade on yer", and the like.
  12. Not sure if this has been noted, but Pikkupstix is the name of the druid who's tent the weird animal is in, and you have to kill the animal in the Wolf Whistle quest. This is completely wrong speculation, but methinks that you turn it into a whistle somehow, and do something strange.
  13. I wasnt to far off  How did you get the green layer off? All the pictures, the layers keep annoying me. Can you take the others off?
  14. Ummm.... switching the unidentified to grimy & barbarian training potions? I thought that those were two big updates to Herblore...
  15. I think that xp takes priority over money (in this case), just that the person wants a bit of money on the side. ================= Also, the price limits cause: CONS -- 1) Bad prices to stay that way 2) Good price changes to be stuck in slow-motion PROS -- 1) Made investments a lot easier, as per con #2. 2) Made the market more reliable, which matters a lot to anybody but merchants, as far as I know. If there's a change occuring, I know about it before it's too bad. Qeltar, what other cons are there? If those are the only ones, I don't think it's as bad as you make it out to be.
  16. Great suggestions. When I get pictures of them, I'll add the gear. I'll try out energy/super energy pots, but I think that the lack of an inventory space isn't worth it. Maybe I should also mention that high Agility helps? Also, should I include pics one by one, or wait till I have all of them, and then make one big edit? Thanks.
  17. I've noticed that in the few days since I posted this guide: 1) The profits from this method have gone down. 2) The number of people at the Al-Kharid tanner have gone up. So: 1) Is this a coincidence, or is it because of this guide? 2) If the latter, be aware that it's barely profitable anymore.
  18. Yay! I finished the guide (well, it needs pics, but OTHERWISE)!
  19. Sorry about that. I'll make sure to do that next time. (And for this guide). But is it good to do a first draft in the word processor, and then add pics when the guide is up? I think it would be a bit hard to Ctrl-C Ctrl-V pics into the textfield...
  20. Dragonhide Tanning with the Grand Exchange There are a lot of good money-making techniques out there. I've browsed a lot of them. Most are good, but a bit slow. This guide is probably doomed to rank their numbers. Some, almost all of the rest, require stats above 70 to be efficient. I know this is common for the average Tip.iter here, but there are those (like me) who don't have such high stats. We either haven't been playing long enough, or don't have enough patience, or both. Regardless, while looking for good crafting methods, that don't cost too much, I accidentally stumbled upon a (not new, just not touched upon in detail here, and not using the Grand Exchange) relatively fast money-maker: Running dragonhides from the Grand Exchange. NOTE: This is my first guide. I picked a weak topic, and I'm inexperienced at making guides. Please don't flame me too badly. Table of Contents 1.0: The Basics 2.0: Buying and Selling 3.0: Getting Around ----------3.1: Amulet of Glory ----------3.2: Canoes ----------3.3: Teleports 4.0: Li'l Tips 5.0: Rates, Ratios, and Results 6.0: Credits/Thanks 1.0: The Basics The ideas involved here are actually quite simple. The Grand Exchange's highest price for both green and blue dragonhides are more than 20 gp lower than the lowest price for dragon leather. So, you buy dragonhides, take them to the tanner, tan them, and sell the leather for a profit. Simple enough? 2.0: Buying and Selling First things first, you must buy some dragonhides. Blue and green are the only ones that work, as nobody buys red or black leather. The prices are constantly changing, which one is better ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ã
  21. It's probably not worth it, but I'm bored. I feel like cleaning my method up and putting it on the PMG forum. 1) Any tips? 2) Is the one I found (Archive of Wisdom/PMG: Money-Making) the one for good ones, or the one where any guide is OK, and only the best are stickied? 3) If 2 is "only the good", where do I put the bad?
  22. I do. It's just that I'm poor enough that "bulk" means 200. (Yea, I got money fast enough with this that now I can buy 200, instead of 30. Still lame.) your sig is awsome! i tried that with my scythe to, i was pretty mad it didnt work :P Quote the sig, not the post. Otherwise you'll confuse the heck out of people. -------------------- Another thing I noticed: You can use canoes, meaning no need to recharge. I'm not sure if the extra space from lumby canoe to tanner is worth the lack of space between edgeville canoe and GE, and the time lost recharging. But I thought it was worth mentioning.
  23. Good point, hadn't thought of that. Would fairy ringing from Edgeville be the fastest way to recharge? (Planning for when I get the reqs and finish the quest)
  24. Mrmyk, you're totally right! Jagex has to take out Ignatius Vulcan, or he'll start a forest fire and burn a third of Kandarin! :ohnoes:
