  1. Sleepy want me... There's a massive conjunction of God(s) out there, so it's pitifully inadequate to target any in particular. Quoi_Tu, try to keep on topic. We're not here to argue how flawed or perfect any mortal religious establishment is. You can prove the Islamic, Christian, or Jewish Churches to be lying scumbags in the guise of piety, but that doesn't prove or disprove God any more or less.
  2. The kid was messed up, but I hardly blame anybody for this. Tell me if you can look at somebody on the street and tell if they're bipolar, or mentally diseased in general ([developmentally delayed]ation and other severe defects that affect physical appearance excluded), then you can start blaming. Those people thought he was just a kid prying for attention, but it caught their fancy and thought it would be entertaining to watch how it ended. I don't think anybody here wanted anybody to die, at least not sincerely.

Twilight just had several very pointed flaws that made it unfaithful. If I wrote a book with dwarves that sung to trees and could live forever, those aren't dwarves, those are other things. Same thing. These things aren't vampires, they're just...really hot dudes that drink blood instead of eating what normal people do. Throw in super-powers, and you pretty much get a sanguiphilic (Yay, custom Latin!) Superman. What a bore. P.S. Nom Anor is right. Edward is just reeally creepy. 'I like to watch you sleep. I've been doing it for two months.' #-o Worst thing to tell a girl EVER.
  4. It's really an argument of whether or not you trust the citizens of the country more than the government. Personally, since we're a republic, its arguably better to trust the government anyway.
  5. Good arguments, mate. I don't know. Guns are a rather difficult thing to control. Still, the pushing of control legislation is better than the alternative: everybody gains access to guns. There's really no practical, save-all answer here.
  6. Right you are, and some of them can be claimed as fiction as well. Which is where it comes all back down to...faith. Really, this entire thread is all about whether or not you have faith. You have it, you are probably religious. You don't, you're probably atheistic / agnostic. Trying to convince people either way is a lot like trying to make a coconut turn into a strawberry. It might happen, but then again, you should probably be doing something more productive.
  7. Ah, we're not talking about just brothel-based prostitution. We're also including pimp-based selling of women as merchandise. Sexual disease can be contracted by a 'worker' during their sessions, and then spread, and on the street, it's a very, very real possibility. Under-the-table economics occur in this pimp-based business as well, therefore detracting from America's severely crippled economy. Citizen protection is also a problem, because with prostitution being so widely frowned upon by society, a prostitute is less likely to stand up and declare themselves an abused prostitute. They'd get help, but they'd also get ridiculed and fired. Also, my last claim is a tad bit erroneous; I believe it to be true that normal society fears that the subculture will encroach upon them, but it's hardly a legitimate concern for them to feel so. However, the above arguments are weak. I acknowledge that much. Please bear in mind, though, that America, the presumed target of the debate of legalization, is a democracy-based republic. You said it yourself: "Not a big fan of prostitution," and that's exactly why prostitution will largely remain illegal: because people don't like it. At least in America, whatever people want, that's what they'll get, and if they don't get it, they have the right to seize it. Admittedly, over an issue like prostitution, I hardly expect the people to get up in arms, but it would be their right.
  8. Nay, Jesus died 33 AD, roughly. All ordained saints of the Christian church have preformed miracles on their behalf in the name of the Lord, so yes, miracles technically happen. Well, would you look at that. I'm getting into Christianity strictly. I feel like a hypocrite. I reckon I'll read the Qu'ran one day and get back to you. The validity of these miracles, though, are as debatable and contestable as God himself, so there is no use bringing them up, though.

Any movie that features the physical abuse of Daniel Radcliffe is worthwhile. I'll look into Artemis. As for all the other books, I agree, and have read them all...Brisingr was pretty awful, IMO, and it took way too long to publish.
  11. The internet has, and always will have, it's own special little flaws, my friend.
  12. Disagreed. Sexual compatibility is a large part of a relationship, and I believe you shouldn't be entering a large commitment such as marriage without knowing your partners wants and needs. Plus, I don't see how sex in a relationship is detrimental at all. Sex in a healthy relationship should bring the couple closer. If it doesn't the relationship was never healthy in the first place, but you can't blame that on sex. Also disagreed. High school relationships are the same as any relationship. The only difference is that both parties in that relationship are usually too inexperienced to keep it working, regardless of how compatible the couple is. But they aren't just for nothing. They are to gain that experience so that you can survive in a long term relationship. I stand corrected (largely) on my second point: you're right. It is for experience. However, I still must point out that one shouldn't obsess too much about a loss in High School. I agree with you, it's practice, but then, that's all it is. Practice. Don't expect to get married or anything, though it has happened (though rarely.) As for my first point...I feel that, by the time you get married, you should know your partner well enough that your first sexual encounter, post-marital, should be as magical, if not more, than any pre-marital.
  13. Or like me, both  . i guess thats why they call it randum xD Funny this is coming up. >.> My confession is that I support Anonymous majorly. 'cept the PEDOBAHR part. Shiver. I dunno, I just like the epitomization of human cruelty, which is really something society (America in particular) has to step back and look at before we can go forth and claim we're being 'moral'.
  14. Be kind. A soul has departed from our company. People do this for attention. That's why he did it on a webcam. Very, very few people commit suicide by going out into the woods and shooting themselves or hanging themselves by a tree branch. Aye, his bipolar played a hand. But so did his thirst for attention. He may have killed himself either way, but why he used this medium was purely a ploy for attention. Congratu-[bleep]in-lations, media, you just compounded the problem.
  15. Precisely. So why ban the one medium of defense a common citizen has? Yes, we regulate guns for the reason of keeping these undoubtedly infinitely more lethal tools out of psycho's hands, but really, when it comes to regulation, it comes down to this: RATE. OF. FIRE. It's easy to disable an interloper with one round with a pistol, and it's hard to kill an entire school with a single glock or USP. You'd need head-shots or heart-shots to ensure fatality. Therefore, we must regulation not the weapon, but the ammo involved, for the big stuff. And, really, for the little stuff. By denying excess munitions, it eliminates psychopaths from going on rampages, but enables a common citizen who only wishes to defend themselves a medium with which to do so. Munitions sold at gun clubs would also solve the recreational aspect. Search and pat downs on exit, of course.
  16. Prostitution comes down to the social contract, or the rights of the government, to regulate what it's people do in terms of morality. There are plenty of applicable, social reasons for limiting prostitution, not withstanding: Disease 'Under the table' economics Citizen protection (violent things often happen with a 'client') Subculture values being imposed upon 'typical' society. People aren't allowed to make choices. That's a weak argument. Generally, we are, but we (as America, I speak for no other countries) have deemed that sexual intercourse is special, and, foremost, private. Prostitution dismantles both of those values. Therefore, our government limits it, and rightly so.
  17. ...Do you seriously think it's hard? Even if it was, there are baseball bats. Knives. Chairs. Bottles. Lamps. Pillows. Sticks. Pieces of lumber. Tables. I could keep going for a very long time. Rocks. And barehanded, with your damn fists, ain't that hard either. It's called 'the face'. Hit it a lot, and whoever possess it shall be dead soon.
  18. My philosophy: if you wouldn't trust the person with a sword right next to you, don't give them a gun. I wish we could just get rid of guns, and I truly wish I could just say 'No more guns RAWR FOREVER' and that be the case, but with a country like America with millions qualified to carry a firearm, it's impractical. Therefore, I must logically go to the path that regulates but allows gun control. Assault rifles and such are regulated the same as handguns, with the exceptions of ammo. Ammo regulation should step up infinitely more. A gun without ammo can't kill any more than a baseball bat can. Handguns will always be a principle of safety, therefore should be allowed, but assault rifle ammo should only be available at commercial shooting ranges and gun clubs, because, for guts' sake, you don't need an AK or an M16A4 to take down a robber. A 9mm, and if you feel vicious, a .50, will do just fine. What's most important to consider is rate of fire.
  19. Man, it's been a hella long time since I posted here. I honestly don't know why it hasn't been shut down, either. Religion is such an incredibly touchy topic. I know I've gotten worked up into an angry enough fervor here to break down into babbling, unintelligent insults. Perhaps ye all have better constitutions than me, yes? Regardless. Atheists and Men of Faith (to be broad) have agreed to disagree. The day that a TRUE atheist and a TRUE Man of Faith agree completely, something has gone very, very wrong. So. I noticed that this thread is very...close-minded, shall we say. It is very, very open compared to the rest of society, but all I see is Christianity v. Atheism. What about Muslims? What about Jewish people? Why aren't there any attacks towards either of those groups? Stop being P(olitically)C(orrect) and at least encompass all these religions in your anti-God posts. Because, note, all three of these major world religions believe in the same God. My own personal arguments are of little consequence, and therefore I will not divulge. However, I beg that you all try to be a bit more universal when attacking religion so generally. Thank you. -Raven
  20. 'tis why you shut the [bleep] up in a relationship. Listen, mate, girls are vastly overrated until you're old enough to get into a relationship that has potential for two things: marriage and sex (preferably in that order. Early sex is tragically detrimental to a healthy relationship.) There's other fish in the sea. That's important to remember...just remember that, pretty much, no matter how old you are, there's always other potential. If you ask me, a soul-mate that early is impossible, and really, soul-mates are vastly overrated. I feel that, with a planet with 8,000,000,000 people, there's gotta be ONE other that you can fall head-over-heels in love with. And like I said, high school and middle school flings are just little tiddly-winks (lolwut?) for the micro-management amusement of both parties involved. In short: they're for kicks and giggles. It's fun, and it's tragic that she cheated on you, but if -she- believes that she was actually in love enough with another person to abandon you, then that's sadistically entertaining, and quite sad on her part. Live on, brother.

Fads die and come back, NOM. Britney Spears is back on the music scene (unfortunately. Seriously, that chick went shaved-her-head crazy. Haven't we done enough?) But, still, Justin Timberlake fangirls were better than these Twilight monstrosities. At least you can outmaneuver a Justin Timberlake fangirl and they'll end up giving you a slack jawed stare, leaving you with the feeling of self-satisfaction and victory. These Twilight fangirls will never admit that they're wrong, no matter how illogical, stupid, and undecipherable their arguments may be. *Claps hands together.* At any rate, I did read the first Artemis Fowl. It was well enough, though I've never had enough interest to pursue the series. Though, there's been a bit of a literary drought for me lately, I might go pick them up. Would you guys recommend it?
  22. I'm not saying the movie was real, that would be dumb. But I want an honest opinion: was Ofelia's 'kingdom' a theological allusion to Heaven, was it one last pleasant day dream, or was she actually a princess? I thought it was the former, that she went to Heaven (yay), but I've heard different opinions.

Let's just hope they do the same with Twilight as they did with Eragon. Bury it in a [bleep]ing hole and hope nobody finds it in 10 years. Seriously, girls. Is Twilight so good? I read the first book. It was a pile of steaming horny-girl fantasy crap. No plot, no symbolism, no legitimate allusions or literary techniques commonly found in widely acknowledged 'classical' literature like Catcher in the Rye, or, hell, let's dumb it down, 'The Cat in the Hat' had more moral principle than that pseud-vampire douchebag Edmund or whatever-the-[bleep] his name was. If you want to get something out of literature, read something that people say has timeless value as oppose to this shallow, over-beaten excuse for an English novel.
  24. Zombies are monstrously epic. WRITE MOAR.

4chan is totally not for anybody under the age of 16. Legally, not under the age of 18, but who the hell really cares, right? I'm 100% 4chan. I'm always on it, because it's what I'm into...technological pop culture. Maybe not the bestiality and the gore and the /h/ BUT they have some VERY cool pictures on that site. Not to mention it's a cornerstone of Anonymous. Which is a BA organization. I dunno, people get a bad impression of 4chan because of what it branched off of, but really, it's pretty sweet IMO. BTW Happysniff, you are, in fact, [developmentally delayed]ed. 13-17 isn't appropriate age for 4chan. You have to be at least 16 to be able to go in there without your face melting.
