Broad Bolts
Someone told me 500k xp an hour for them....Guess they were wrong. What else is great, fast xp for 11 levels while spending 5 mil? Might they have been talking about broad arrows? Maybe. Are those expensive? They would be expensive, yeah. The finished product is untradable, so it's 100% loss.

Why Don't People Explore Anymore?
[hide=Danqazmlp wrote] Again, nothing has really changed. The people who act the way you describe probably aren't indicative of any larger pattern in Runescape culture. There are still plenty of people who like to explore and figure things out for themselves; you just aren't noticing them. The majority of Runescape updates are not geared towards people who grind endlessly. Those people don't need updates, because they'll just accept the status quo and grind away with whatever method they think is the best. Quests and minigames in particular make up a large part of the developers' efforts, and their target audience falls squarely in the "explorer" group. If the game loses its "unknown excitement" for you, it's because you know now; nothing has changed but your attitude. To a new player, it's still unknown. We're not discussing the lack of explorers, but the overpopulous amount of "quicker" people. Folks who want to get everything done fast and now. Which eventually will make the game into a routine and unoriginal. The point I'm trying to make is that if people continue doing everything quickly, you're not going to have an enjoyable time playing the game. Since your concern, your only concern, is to efficiently train to be the best. Which, with a game over 10 million people, you're going to be working for a very long time. An this isn't work, its a game. And to avoid more stupid posts, I am not saying everybody is like this but there is a large number. What updates have given you an indication that Jagex is only going to impliment updates that help the grinders? Your saying things without examples or references. Games are an escape, and if people want to be totally innoculated with training a skill for a couple of hours to get away from life, why not let them? Your seemingly saying that if people aren't doing things the way you want them to, then they can't possibly be having fun. To avoid more stupid posts, make some references please. I agree games are an excape, i guess it's down to more people now-days finding grinding towards goals more fun than exploring a CG world. That or they just seem much more notice-able. But i do ask, if anybody does grind skill all the time, and doesen't enjoy it, (if it applies to anybody here) why do you do it? Try exploring, you won't be gaining any ranks or exp, but if you try to find some far-flung areas, examine anything strange you see, that time will stick in your mind and go much quicker than any grinding will. [/hide] It really has nothing to do with "nowadays." There's no giant movement away from exploring. For the most part, the people who want to are still doing it, and the people who don't want to aren't.

Actually, they are on the rise. Teaks have gone up more than 15% this past 30 days. I think he's referring to when you said Ah. Yeah, that's old. Hey, trading sticks are down since then too. 3-5 gp instead of 5-7 gp.

Fishing
Well, if you're rich, then no. But, amazingly, not all of us are.. I did it at 76 and it's worth it, because I need the money. You get money faster at Monks. And from mining gold, and from killing green dragons, etc. Almost anything is faster than shark fishing. It's under 100k per hour. F2p'ers can make more than that.[/hide]So, I ask as an avid fisherman, what is the most profitable fish? Monks? Swordies? Honestly? No fish is very profitable. Monkfish and sharks are lucky if they break 150k gp/hr at 99 fishing. I can make double that easily with cooking or herblore or combat or any number of ways. Fishing is a horrible moneymaker.

Ideas on spending?
I'll second that 70 prayer idea. Piety is really good.

Waterfiends profit?
Yes, you could fight waterfiends. Just be sure to use the best gear--Karil's, zammy spear/sara sword, and so on. Higher summoning and prayer would be better, though.

Nerfing the 26k trick.
They could... 1) Toy mouses unusable on PvP worlds (as well as any other toy-mouse type things) 2) XP requirements to build EP that are large enough to rule out toy mouses as a good EP builder 3) Easier skills to manipulate will only build EP at higher wilderness levels, maybe multi combat areas? But then what if you're an honest player doing some activity that gives slow xp? What kind of slow xp do you mean? And maybe they could make different EP building levels. Like if you are mining or something slow like that, your ep would build faster than somebody alching with magic brawlers. This would also depend on risk, level of wilderness, ect. For example, fighting a boss monster, playing a minigame like Shades of Mort'ton, collecting snape grass, and so on. [/hide] Who does any of that to build EP as it is, let alone get XP (if any xp can be gained from collecting snape grass, please enlighten me how! ) Well, see, a nice thing about pvp worlds is that you can do anything you would do on a normal world there with a little more risk in exchange for building up a little EP, and probably less competition. So I think it's desirable that we should be able to gain EP from whatever activity we want. (And you would get a little magic xp collecting snape grass if you were casting Waterbirth teleport.)

So how do you stop the problem of the toy mouse?

Whats a good 99??
Actually, woodcutting is by far the least useful and profitable of the three. Strength and cooking can both make money more than twice as fast as woodcutting very easily.

Why Don't People Explore Anymore?
Hoards of people are always trying out new content on the day of release, newbs and veterans alike. Most of them are gone pretty quickly. And then hoards x10 more wait until days later to check out the updates and thencan't just figure them out themselves or read the news page. Don't act like I'm lying here. You know the people who ask for information greatly outweighs the people who go and find the information themselves. First, no, I don't know that. I've never experienced this phenomenon you speak of. As a Wikipedian protester might put it: Second, what exactly is your point here? That people who dive blindly into new content are somehow superior to people who read up on it first? That's quite a claim, sir.

Nerfing the 26k trick.
You may be onto something with linking EP to experience gains, but how would you make it fair for all skills? I mean, say you needed 100k total experience to get so much EP. Something like fishing will take a lot longer to get that 100k than another skill like thieving. And if you weight certain skills, how do you determine how much to weight them? In theory, fishing should be about equal to agility...but you make money when you fish, so how does that factor in? And what about skills like magic, where exp/hr rates slide from fishing-speed with 200k gp/hr profit all the way up to fletching-speed with major losses? There are other problems too with various ways to "store up" experience to gain all at once, e.g. agility tickets, runecrafting tabs, SC items, and so on. And if the player just has to be gaining experience, no matter how quickly, then it doesn't stop those antics of people casting bolt spells at each other, since they're getting magic experience. People hiding in obscure locations could easily play with a toy mouse or something and only be mildly inconvenienced at best. As for increasing EP based on kills, doesn't your EP already go down when you get loot from a kill?

A REAL Solution to Price Manipulation
Merchanting clans won't be handicapped just because some people start trading face-to-face, not any more than a meat company would suffer because one of us decides to go vegan. There would still be thousands upon thousands of GE users to exploit. "Incentives to encourage trade outside the GE" would do nothing to stop the problem.

A REAL Solution to Price Manipulation
I certainly hope nobody is nostalgic about the days before the GE. I was playing before the GE, and I can tell you, the old trade system was crap. I hated it. Trading over the forums sucked. You had to check the thread and bump it and it sucked. Trying to sell your stuff in a random bank was even worse, and just a horribly awful experience I would never want anyone to have to go through. And W2 was no better. You had to make your way into an eternally-full world where half the population was crammed into a small area in Falador, with ridiculous lag. And then you had to look around to find someone selling what you needed, or else holler that you were selling, which was basically the same as trying to sell stuff in a random bank, only with more lag. On top of all that, you had to already know the price of what you were selling, because if you offered it for too low you'd get ripped off, and if you offered it for too high, you'd get laughed at. And heaven forbid you should try to buy or sell something obscure, like plain pizza or karambwan or unpowered orbs. You could be waiting for hours. If I couldn't access the Grand Exchange with the same convenience with which I can access it now, I'd be ranting about it. And I never rant about updates. Stopping merchanting clans is one thing, but this proposed solution is worse than the problem. Absolutely not. You want to stop merchanting clans by making fewer people use the GE? What's next? End shoplifting by making all the stores sell nothing but garbage that nobody wants to steal?

Why Don't People Explore Anymore?
People explore just as much as they used to back when you did it. Typically, those people are not the same people who post on forums asking for help, that's all. Nothing is different. Again, nothing has really changed. The people who act the way you describe probably aren't indicative of any larger pattern in Runescape culture. "N00b skillcapes" : they're also skillcapes!
I think it's pretty obvious that whichever party is being the jackass is the one who's in the wrong. None of this crap is worth gloating over. Regardless of whether you consider a fletching cape to be a lesser achievement than a ranged cape, or what you perceive the wearer's motives for attaining the cape to be, it's clear that no skillcape is "n00by." That's just a stupid claim to make, and I don't think anyone here honestly believes it. Players aren't n00bs because of their equipment or their skill levels, and anyone who thinks such is, quite frankly, a n00b.

Opinions on where to grow spirit tree.
Actually, it wouldn't be a fast way to craft laws at all, really. You'd be much better off with balloons, which are both faster and easier.

Combat Pots Vs. Super Pots - For Training.
The extra boost of the super pots is worth the extra cost for training. I still use combat pots for the jade vine, phoenix, and Bork, though, since I only need the potion to last a few minutes.

Opinions on where to grow spirit tree.
Brimhaven is the best for training farming, since it conveniently links the Brimhaven fruit tree patch to the ones by the Gnome Stronghold and the Gnome Village. Etceteria is mildly convenient in that it allows you to stop at the bush patch when you check on Miscellania for some free poison ivy berries and ~1k farming xp, plus you don't need to remember to bring a hatchet or pickaxe to restore your favor. None of the locations are particularly useful.
