All I can say is that you have to do what you think is right...not everyone will agree, but that's why it's your life
  2. no need for further explanation-- there's your problem. don't shit where you eat I've always thought this analogy should be the other way around..as in, don't eat where you shit

What are you not sure about? Seems like better all around, plus it probably looks better on your resume if you want to get into software development as a career...

Well the very most expensive high rise 1 bedrooms start at $2400 at the newest, fanciest location, but all the others are starting between $1700-2000. Also it looks like 1 Canadian dollar = .77 USD so that would partially explain why things seem more expensive in Toronto Salary differences don't generally account for exhange rate disparity so I doubt that carries over into rent too much

Thats the balance I'm trying to have, a car new enough to stay nice and reliable for a long time but old enough to where the rate at which it depreciates is slow. But my 02 civic only has 120k miles on it so I'll probably end up keeping it for at least another year That doesn't seem like a lot....around here I'd expect to be able to get close to 200k miles on a civic...and we have salt in the winter

Newer cars are safer, sure...but only marginally safer than ten year olds cars. But driving a pickup truck is also safer than driving a Honda civic...at some point, the extra safety isn't worth the cost

Sure..you have to be prudent when buying used. But every time you buy a new car you lose 20% of the value when you drive it off the lot

So are repairs on a decade old car.Depends on the repair. I spent 1k replacing the clutch on my 11 year old car 4 years ago...60000km later it's still going strong.

No one should go into debt to buy a car...money down the drain

Buying new cars is not the smartest. A honda civic that's 15k new will be 10k at two years old

I suppose you could ask to try the supervisor job for a month or two and see how it goes. That would require your employer to be aware of and sensitive to your condition, though...
