I wondered the same. When the day comes that the benevolent site owner stops paying the bill, will we get a warning? Or will it just go down? I legit don't even know who pays for this site anymore, so like, I don't know if I could complain if that's what happened. Pretty sure Silverion is still the owner. But the boards are almost completely dead, and the main site doesn't seem to get much activity either (relative to in its heyday). I'm sure the hosting costs were pretty significant, although they could have been downscaled recently if the traffic isn't so high. I hope we get some sort of a warning but I wouldn't count on it.

There are lots of areas in the US where you can live really cheaply...there's a huge disparity. Not so much in Canada...although there are some cheap areas.

It always depends on where you live. In any major north american city things are pretty tight on that salary.
