TIF is bit over-moderated
Of course not. And just as we don't, neither do the users. We have a general idea of someone's posting style and contribution, just as you do.

Harper is spending a lot, sure. But he's making enough cuts to (largely) ensure he isn't spending money he hasn't got. I'll be the first to admit that the conservatives aren't perfect, indeed their anti-democratic actions are pretty severe and would definitely change my vote were there an economically responsible alternative.

TIF is bit over-moderated
I have to say that would be an extremely bad idea. There's no way the community can judge on whether or not a user should be banned without knowing information on what they did wrong and their history of incidents. This is information that shouldn't really be shared. Yes, there is room for transparency, but certainly not allowing non-staff to make decisions on moderation issues like that. I think that's a great idea, actually. There's always the problem that mods/admins only see the bad posts that a user makes while not always seeing his/her active contributions to the site/forums. Having the general public A.K.A the regular users here, give their opinion on why or why not a user should or should not be banned would be a perfect way to really see the things the user in question does that the moderators and administrators don't see. Mods and admins can see every single post a user makes. This idea is awful. It leads to blatant favoritism and unfair banning. The bottom line is that if you break the rules repeatedly after warning, you get banned. That's it. It doesn't matter if you've made a guide, and shouldn't. Just as in real life, where someone isn't allowed to murder because they own a children's charity, so here do we enforce the rules largely regardless of whatever positives the person may have as well.

Ok. I hope you enjoy a debt that spirals out of control faster then you can say "jack layton" and massive tax increases.

I'm asking you what your script is going to do. It's difficult for us to give you help if we don't know what you're doing.... You're welcome at any rate.

Osama Bin Laden confirmed dead
History has taught us exactly what I'm saying: That much violence is mindless and serves no good purpose, and that some violence is necessary and the right course.

I don't understand what you're getting at. Are you suggesting that there is a peaceful solution for absolutely every human conflict? Make no mistake; I wish there was. But there isn't. Of course, the mind-set of 6 billion+ people cannot be changed overnight. Humanity may not be mature enough to resolve all problems peacefully at this time, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't work towards it. And we do. But you will never change everyone's mindset. It's impossible. And even while attempting to change mindsets, situations will arise where violence is needed, and history has shown that.

You do realize there is a difference between the innocent and the guilty? I'm not a fan of violence. I disagree with almost all war and military action, but I'm not naive. In this world we live in, sometimes violent action is the most appropriate solution.

Yeah, I agree with Dietrich. While Osama killed innocent people (so his death is a good thing in that regard), America is far from innocent.

I kinda want Boston to do well. So we get our pick, and so Kaberle goes somewhere. But it's only one game in, too early to tell much...

I don't know what the British Conservatives are like, but our Conservatives are really barely conservative. Typically minority governments haven't been all that effective, but Harper's minority government over the past three years has been surprisingly effective at getting stuff done.

No, we don't really have a far right part as others have said. I will probably vote conservative. Not because I particularly want to, or like them, but it's the best option. With the NDP surge in popularity, if the conservatives come up short of a majority, there will likely be a liberal/NDP coalition, so basically an NDP government. That would be fiscally disastrous. The party has been in opposition for so long that they have no idea how to run a country. 70 billion dollars of new spending? Now? Where's this money coming from? I wouldn't mind a liberal government as much but that's certainly not happening. So, conservative it is.

Osama Bin Laden confirmed dead
I do find myself wondering why it was necessary to kill him. From what it sounds like, he didn't die in combat - they basically just found him and put a bullet in his head, which I'm not okay with (if that's actually what happened).

UNIX scripting
Yeah putty is just a client, you use it to connect to a server (which is running a certain OS). What is it exactly you want to accomplish with this script?

Thanks for the stream. Definitely big news, curious to see how it develops.

Lol @ Washington failing again. I liked a good portion of their game, but they suffered a pretty lackluster first period, and the way Roloson's been playing, you need to be pushing all game long.

Does going mainstream mean you are destined to be hated?
I think people "hate" stuff like this because they have a desire to be unique. Of course, everyone does it, so it's not unique at all. Hate is such a strong word. It's laughable that people actually "hate" a musical artist or actor because they aren't a fan of their work.

Royal Wedding
Ended up watching the highlights. Last night though, the people I was with wanted to watch the pre-wedding show, which was ridiculous. My personal favourite was: "Kate was seen wearing a FUR HAT the other day, there is some speculation that her wedding dress will include fur!".

Canada doesn't have permanent hung parliaments as well. That's factually untrue.

Don't feel strongly either way, curious to see how it works out though.
