    I suppose with a game built 18 years ago, there were a lot of design decisions made over time that make stuff like this more complicated. I know at my work they bit the bullet and engaged in a multi-year complete rewrite of a huge piece of software because the technical debt accumulated over the years was so limiting...I don't know if RS has ever had a complete rewrite
