  1. I've signed up for one, but I'm not sure how long it takes to get approval. Can anyone here tell me?
  2. I thought it was a great read, and an interesting topic. But i feel I need to add something. Stormage talked about what makes runescape fun for us, such as being rich or powerful. But in my opinion, working towards goals is more fun than achieving them. I spent a long time working toward 70 range, had tons of fun on my way there, and when i did it, i felt somewhat disappointed. I was happy I made it there, but I no longer had something to work for. So, I'll leave you with a quote, although I'm not sure who said this: "It's not the destination, but the getting there that's good."
  3. I have mixed feelings, but overall, it helps. I find i can sell my items much faster, but it sacrifices time for money, so i make less. But, I believe the GE is an even greater help to some of our newer players. For instance, my friend just started playing rs. And, although he has no real skills, he has decent combat, and killed cows for a while, then moved up to hill giants (he's lvl 35 combat now). He has made so much money off of it, he doesn't know what to do with it all (he has about 75k, not much for us, but for him, it's more than he'll ever need). When I think back, I wasn't able to make money with such ease, since there were no markets for mostly-useless items, like bones (he sold them for about 70gp each). The GE has created whole new markets, since the seller can connect to anyone who is buying that item, instead of just people in the area. Now, just killing cows (anyone can do that) will yield about 220gp of profit each. That definitely beats smithing for hours on end, being unable to find a buyer, then giving up, and selling to the general store for a tiny profit.
  4. Are you sure they wouldn't let you pick up things in clan wars? They let you do it in BH, why not let us do it in clan wars? If you could lose items, but not gain anything, the whole "update" would be a complete waste of the our time. -.-
  5. I think an update for clan wars was overdue. Since BH no longer supports clans, clans have had to find other places to fight. And, although I like clan wars, there's no real rewards... I really look forward to Jagex fixing up clan wars, so it will become a better overall PvP experience. :
  6. I'm poor, so I've only recently made my first mil. I'm a pretty self-sufficient (sorry if I spelled it wrong) player, and rarely buy anything, since i make make most of the things i need. So, to make my first mil, i just saved a lot. I believe i broke the 1 mil mark while training slayer, and have 1.5 mil now :D . I never got 1 mil, because before, if I had any money, I'd spend it on something frivilous (like my rune (t)).
  7. I play in a very relaxed way. I do whatever I feel like doing at the moment, but I have a somewhat short attention span, and usually move from one thing to the next. Sometimes, I don't even train skills or make money, I just hang around and goof off with friends. Because of this, my skills aren't as high as people who have been playing as long as I have, but I feel I've had more fun than most. I mean, if you're not having fun playing runescape, what's the whole point of playing in the first place?
  8. I don't know if I would go, I don't think I'm a high enough level to go monster hunting. And, besides, I've been trying to goto a TET event for a while, but I never end up playing runescape on saturdays. (Sorry, golf comes first : )
  9. I feel that I'm in the same overall situation. I've been playing for a while now, I believe about 2 to 3 years. Athough I've been playing a while, my levels and stats are decent, but not great. Mostly, instead of playing runescape all day, and leveling a stat for hours on end, i play in more moderate doses, and spend a lot of my time goofing off with some of my rl friends. In a lot of places i'm considered noobish, but I've been playing for a while now, and know a lot about Runescape. Overall, a good read.
  10. Well, I'm sure that the combination is effective. We've established that. But, as you said, the supplies for a berserker necklace were very expensive. If you were going to make one (i believe you said it cost about 3mil) why would you sell it on the ge for (again I estimate) 500k? I'm sure it would be almost impossible to find one. And, with the sara sword (or godsword, i've seen many used for training) this combination might have become useless for higher level players. The sara swords and godswords are more expensive, but more effective. Those players who have played long enough to be familiar with it (I hadn't heard of it before this article tbh) are usually strong enough that sara swords or godswords are more efficient than obby weps.
  11. I agree completely. I often wonder if, or when I should quit, and if I have played too much. But, in the end, I enjoy this game too much to quit soon. The thing I enjoy most of all is the community. I love chatting with real life friends I don't get to see as often anymore, or chatting on Forsakenmage's chat. Great article. Keep up the good work.
  12. Of course inactivity kills clans! If no one's active, there really isn't a clan anymore... #-o
  13. I'm actually looking forward to all of these things this week! But, the one I'm looking forward to the most is the new bank system. Even though I try really hard, it's nearly impossible to keep my items organized. -.-
  14. I think that the voices have something to do with the new "Wilderness Quest" coming out later this month. Either you would have to help the ghost, or maybe put him out of his misery... Of course, there could be multiple parts to this quest, so the ghost might have to do with a later part of this quest...
  15. I thought it was a good article. I'm enjoying exploring everything in HD.
  16. I don't care if other's junk trade, I just don't want to end up with other people's junk. Therefore, I do almost all of my trading on the ge.
  17. Personally, I believe that RL > RS. As fun as RS is, it's just a game, and not a substitute for anything real. I believe you still should get out often, and have fun (or get done things that need doing). I go golfing quite often, and do all my work on time, and in the time i still have free, I (generally) play RS.
  18. I like new content, but it would be nice if they put more effort into updating old content, such as castle wars, to name one.
  19. Well, I sort of agree. I like the fact that they're updating graphics, and I can't wait 'til they release it! But, I think it would be nice to improve content every once in a while, to keep things fresh. A good game will have a combination of both. A game could have great content and bad graphics, or vice virsa, and it might not be very good. Hopefully, Jagex's next big update will be content.
  20. The new Development Diary made me more exicited. I can't wait til the new graphics come out! :ohnoes:
  21. I have another comment. (I posted one earlier) The euro soccer cup has some similarities to RS clans, but I'm sure that there is a better metaphor for rs, and besides, we Americans find it hard to relate to it (I'm sure you figured out I was American when i said: "Soccer"). Clans are less organized than euro soccer teams, so it's easier to come and go without fuss. And, in general, clans can war, but they cannot have organized matches, so there is no "winnner" clans and "loser" clans. Just my humble opinion. ps: Stormage, I have no objections to you calling it football. :D Gratz on the good article.
  22. Well, i liked it overall, but while reading the first half of the article, all I could think was: "how does this have anything to do with runescape?" :)
