  1. Rewards are the most important thing for me. Although the story line is important, Rewards are usually the reason I do the quest in the first place. Whether its experience, or an item (neitznot helm ftw) I won't bother with a quest if it's long and its rewards are junk...
  2. Lmao at the topic name. Wonder how long it will take to be removed. As for the spice, I love lots 'o pepper.
  3. Smithing, at the moment, is almost dead. There is little to no use for smithing anymore, since rune drops are "common" from high level monsters. The only way to bring it back would be to make armor repairable through smithing, or to open up to some new type of mass-producible item, something like bolts or arrowheads. I don't have any ideas of what that item might be, but I find that the main reasons I smith anymore are to make arrowheads and bolts. So, it would make sense to me to open up to new types of similar items...
  4. I think that I am one of those purists (Sorta). I only do things that I feel like doing, and I never really train one skill too long, since I'm such a spaz. =p My skills aren't great, but I've had fun, so I don't care.
  5. I have two things to say: 1.) I'd like to clarify my previous post, since people seem to misunderstand what I was trying to say. I simply pointed out that, even though each trial is independent, the more trials you have, the more likely it is for a desired outcome to occur. I said that the idea that drops are "overdue" or that the odds increase as you kill might have stemmed from a misinterpretation of this idea. 2.) The argument over this ".51% chance of heads" is irrelevant, and as interesting as it is that we find bizarre excuses to disprove obviously random events, there's no point to arguing over the chances of heads in a coin flip. Move on please.
  6. The chance of getting a drop actually does go up as you kill monsters (depending on how you look at). Yes, each individual kill (or toss, I'm going to use that coin metaphor) has an independent chance of 1/1000 depending on the drop, (or 1/2) so your chances are better the more times you kill something (or toss). Lets say you flip a coin looking for at least one heads. Your chances of getting a head are better if you flip the coin three times as opposed to one. This is pretty logical, and most people understand this concept, but I think, over the years, this basic idea has been skewed, and people grow to feel they are "overdue" for a drop (or that long awaited heads : ).
  7. Personally I'd love coal in my stocking! I've got a lot of smithing training I want to do. Besides, coal is so expensive, i don't think santa could afford it...but overall, I enjoyed the article. p.s: Santa should put cabbage in people stockings instead of coal.
  8. I would definitely start over. In my opinion, getting the levels is half the fun. So, I would be frustrated, but I might enjoy making a new account from scratch.
  9. Well, I agree with the point made, that the dragon plate came too late. It used to be very expensive, since it came with the prestige of being the best armor in the game. Now, 3rd age has come and taken its power and prestige, while barrows has become powerful and practical. This puts dragon in a nasty middle ground, where it is not price-efficient, or prestigous. So, its basically the worst of both worlds. p.s: the weps are still good, since they are resonably priced, and powerful.
  10. You point out that mining, rc, ect are the cheapest skills to train, but they take so long to level that its not worth it. No one in they're right mind would call 99 mining easy just because you don't have to buy stuff. 99 fm is much faster, so it is therefore easier, and it attracts those who want a 99 but don't really care if they like that skill or not. There are people who enjoy firemaking, but most go for it just because it is a "fast" and relatively cheap 99 to get. By the way, stop calling it "woodchopping" it sounds dumb... -.-
  11. I still enjoy clue scrolls, although i find lvl 3's frustrating sometimes. -.- I know I won't get a huge sum of cash from it, because everything in them has become just about worthless (like those mage comps i keep getting, 6k ea.) I never get much money, but I still have a little bit of fun, since it's like opening a present, you never know what you're gunna get. On a different note, i have a question. Can you get more than one clue scroll at a time? I would be grateful to anyone able to help.
  12. good read, magic still seems underpowered though, maybe a they need to make a fourth spellbook, something like a "godsword of magic" :) Yay! first post!
  13. Good read :D . I've found that, although I don't depend on it for a source of income (i use skilling for that) I enjoy killing things. Sometimes I melee them, but usually I enjoy ranging lesser demons, and blue drags (I'd recommend those over green drags, but they're so crowded :| ) I was always able to make a little profit, since I made my own ammo. Right now, I'm trying to find a way to make the occasional black demon trip. Keep up the good work! Ps: SirHartlar, He wasn't risking the glory, that was one of the three items he would keep if he died.
  14. Personally, i hate the noobs who stand around going, "attack me!" wearing no armor, then when someone finally does, they put on three pieces of rune and attack you. I can't stand this. -.- There's no real rule against it, but it just seems cheap....it's a dirty backhanded trick. Maybe it's just me, but is there no honor in pking?
  15. In my opinion, the new pvp update might be the best thing that has happened to skillers in a while. Most skills focus on getting things that would help in combat. Pots, food, armor, runes, ect. are all made by skillers, than usually bought by those who want to kill things. Now that pvp is making a comeback, there will be a huge rise in demand for these items again, making skilling profitable again. So, balanced players (like me I think) and skillers will not die out anytime soon.
  16. Well, I think something had to be done about price manipulation by large clans, but this change might have been a little drastic. Changing the limit form 100 to 25 seems reasonable, as it would hinder huge market buy-outs or sell-outs, without really hindering the freedom of small time merchanters, or small-time merchant clans. But, it really doesn't affect me, since I only do small investments (I've got about 500k invested in sharks and lobbies right now  ).
  17. Personally, the skiller group should be divided into two category's. First, there are the material skillers, and the crafting skillers. The material skillers gather the raw materials such as ores, fish, bowstrings etc. They do not make the final product, and usually don't get much exp, but they make money off their hard work. Then, there are the crafting skillers. They take the raw materials, and turn those into marketable goods, such as armor, food, and so on. They gain the most exp, and, if done right, a good amount of money too. This roughly equates to our real economy, where cheap laborers do the physical labor, while skilled craftsmen take those materials, and make them into goods. These two separate kinds of skillers are different enough that I thought it should be pointed out...
  18. I agree that Jagex needs to do a better job fixing glitches. I found so many glitches when rs hd came out, I found it sad that no-one had found these glitches (like harbie bug lanterns for instance). And, I also agree that getting banned for "bug abuse" is usually worthless, since there are so many people who get banned for it, but only a small percentage were doing anything wrong.
  19. Well, personally, i find the ge convienient, versus having to buy goods from other players. But, with convienience comes cost. Simple things that used to be cheap, are now expensive on the ge. Personally, if it doesn't take ages, i'll happily make things myself, versus buying them for more than they're worth.
  20. I can't stand any of them. I hate when company's waste their time putting their logo everywhere, instead of working on whatever it is they're supposed to do. If I wanted a flash drive, I'd go to samsung or someone like that. A message to Jagex: I love your game. You (generally) do a good job, and enjoy playing. But I don't want to buy any of your assorted crap. Stick to what you do best.
  21. I think the best advertising is done by word-of-mouth. A big part of the game for me is a group of rl friends who also play, which you can only get if a friend tells you about the game. Word-of-mouth generally attracts more mature people, vs. people who do whatever their T.V. tells them to do. This makes for a more enjoyable experience for everyone. Oh, P.S. - word-of-mouth is free!!!! \
  22. I think everyone is hilarious. Everytime a new update comes out, the prices of some item(s) are affected on the ge. Without fail, a certain group rejoices, and another one dispairs. For instance, the rc guild. The prices of ess shot up at first, and the prices of runes dropped. All the rc-for-money group panicked, as they watched their profits slip away, and those who were training magic, or mining pure ess, celebrated. Then the price plummeted, because of the decrease in demand, and the amount of ess enteriong the market from the minigame. All the rc-ers rejoiced, and the ess miners panicked. See what I mean? Every update brings a change. It always has a good side, and a bad side, so it usually evens out. And, after the initial shock, things usually settle back anyways, or at least settle back to where things still work. So, everyone here is already panicking, and rejoicing, as the prices fluctuate, and the the new update hasn't even come out yet.
  23. I always kill a few more, as long as i have some space in my inventory, and have enough food left :
  24. With most signature's, it gives displays your levels only if they're in the high-scores. So, if none of your combat stats are ranked, it assumes your combat level is zero. Try a tip.it signature, because I think it displays all of your stats (I think this because my farming isn't ranked, but it still shows up).
  25. thanks, i just checked my mail, but I'm not sure if I'll keep it, it came out a little funny...
