No, I've never taken any classes ever. Apparently those professor-types don't really teach the language correctly anyway, so I don't know if I would bother unless I was going to be in Japan for an extended period of time. I have learned all the Japanese I know from textbooks.

"Today" is 今日 but with those kanji read as "kyou" instead of "konnichi" - this is why the kanji method of writing こんいちは is not usual because it looks exactly like the way to write "today is."

Ah, I was just wondering because they have two pronunciations, even if the readings are maybe different, I don't know. Chinese seems quite a lot more difficult though... Kanji is the real difficulty in Japanese. For example: my friend tried to say "hello" using kanji (今日は, which nobody uses) and ended up saying "A piece of molesting conversation." :V

Can you read hanzi? If you can you've already got a huge advantage on me. ;w;
