  1. The tune is actually meant to be "God Save The Queen", the British national anthem, however both songs use the same melody :P
  2. You've reminded me of exactly where I was on that day now :D I remember being sat in school also during lunch discussing the Omen film. I was playing Runescape at this time too, however I never knew about the Massacre until much later on after this date, perhaps a year or so reading it on RuneWiki. I've always assumed I wasn't playing at this time but I suddenly remember I must have been, can't believe I didn't know that this had happened when I was fully active!
  3. Keeping with Jagex' stupid puns, I see... When Jagex don't stand by their own values: someone has to :D
  4. Those fish masks sure do look carp. Don't think I'll be playing Fish Flingers anytime soon, I've got 99 fishing and the rewards mostly seemed to be aimed towards xp boosts and improved rates, which I'm not currently interested in. If the costume looks nice though I may try get that! :D I think i've also reached a stage now where anything Jagex does no longer surprises me...I wonder what it must be like for them knowing a heck of a lot of people seem to be very very unhappy with their actions, and continuing with them :P
  5. [hide] The trouble is there is no logical reason for it to be an item at all. The prior clues all list the components required to make the final outcome. Egg + flour + milk (+cake tin) = Cake Needle + Thread + Hard leather = hardleather body But there is no third item needed to make ashes. logs + tinderbox = ashes Hatchet could perhaps be worked in but at 7 letters it doesn't fit. Which leaves sort of action words and descriptive terms for the fire which don't seem to quite work eg light, flame, burn, fire etc. [/hide] [hide] Could also be an NPC to do with firemaking or something, but yes it must be some indication of having to light the logs for the outcome to be ashes[/hide]
  6. About that last line of the 3rd clue: [Hide] I believe it's about Alfred the Great, as the clue says something about this "Great" not being able to "read" our own royal ground. Alf "read" would make sense, so if he can't read then perhaps Alf is part of the item. Maybe that's a start :)[/hide]
  7. [hide] If this is the case, I can partly deduce the second clue now; Clue 2: Aethelred roughly lost his quick elemental shield in this stitch up. (6) THREAD Point north east as these eight kings take fifty east. (6) Something to do with a Compass Needle? Particularly tough Aethelred without Edward about for this armour. (4,7) HARD LEATHER [Anagram of Aethelred without the Ed + "Particularly tough"][/hide]
  8. That sort of makes sense, but I can't see the logic behind [hide]egg.[/hide] [hide] I imagine that would come from King Eggbert maybe[/hide]
  9. [hide] I think this has to do with past monarchs, i.e 1000 Empress of England = Matilda, hence without the "mad mat". Other than that I'm stumped :P Laikrob's suggestion looks good[/hide] Clue 2: [hide] I think the first word is NEEDLE, as the clue dictates "stitch up" and 6 letters. I think the entire item though is some sort of ranged armour that's crafted? EDIT: Nope, THREAD Would come for Aethelred, better than NEEDLE The 8 kings is a reference to Henry I believe, as there were 8 King Henrys.[/hide]
  10. I think I should get onto this if that's the case, mine says June 2010 :D Can't wait to give it a try!
  11. I was killing the mature grotworms and a player came down and said he got 3 royal capes from the younger ones and that the mature ones weren't worth it. When I ran out of food for the mature ones, I went up to the young worms and managed to get a couple of royal capes in not a lot of time, so if your game is finding those capes; that might be a tip :)
  12. Bonus stuff after the quest! :D [hide] If you go back into the original cave that you completed the quest in, you'll find that the bridge has collapsed into the acid pool, which you can swim through. After coming out on the other side and advancing through the caves, you hear echoes telling you which way to go...these eventually lead you to a room with ancient writing on the walls and another acid pool. The ancient writing on the wall next to you when you come in will give you 5k constitution xp, and if you cross the acid pool, another wall will give you 25k constitution xp! Woo bonusss! [/hide]
  13. Bit of an update: Had a long exam period recently which I'm out of now so haven't had any time to do anything on this, however I have half term coming up in 2 days time so will get back on swiftly with this, with a view to doing the new volcano content :D Currently in the making is perhaps a handy little tool which I might submit to crew to help you figure out the lowest cost when travelling about on the Charter ships, will be doing that swiftly! Thanks for your support!
  14. Looks like things didn't go well then :( Hopefully this new team will be more popular
  15. Not sure if anyone has noted this yet, but when I tried with 0 prayer points it wouldn't give it to me, however I went to refill just to make sure and then I got the item, without altering any items. So full prayer points might be a factor. Don't have any screenshots though, apologies :(.
  16. 1. Hold off Members' loyalty program new batch till November. 2. Do Bot-busting update in September 3. Have time to do Dominion's tower for October 4. Win GJA, Golden Scythes for all. 5. ???? 6. Profit
  17. Excellent in every way, well done <3:
  18. Hmmm, not sure what I'm missing here, but how did "Mod Slayer" win a player competition when she's a staff member? However, this does indeed sound like a good step away from the grind, as long as they have plans which will be released soon to keep other skills at bay too :P.
  19. Aww, was looking forward to that since the mask isn't that pretty! :( I wonder if that was the plan all along, however, or if it was indeed linked to the Golden Joysticks, but I doubt it :P.
  20. Planet Gielinor ~ The Geography of Runescape "Welcome brave explorers, to the Planet Gielinor! I am Professor Ganick, a leading researcher into Geography at the University of Falador. Many of us are well versed in the history of Runescape, but how did the land around us in Gielinor come to be? This geographical guide will help you become more informed about the shape of the land, the biomes within the realm, and what may happen to it in the future!" Contents [anchorlink=Biome][/anchorlink] [anchorlink=coast] Coastal[/anchorlink] Jungle/Tropical Urban Arctic Desert Mountainous Swamp Wasteland Volcanoes in Gielinor Known Volcanic activity Famous Volcanic Formations [anchor]Biome[/anchor] The Biomes of Runescape Professor Ganick: "The places we are familiar with in Gielinor such as the Arctic regions of the north and the Deserts of Al Kharid are known as biomes. Biomes are areas which are similar in their climate and geography; containing the same types of terrain, flora (plants) and fauna (animals). This section describes and explains the various Biomes around Runescape that I've had time to study." [anchor]coast[/anchor][hide=Coastal] The Coastal Biome "Ah, the seaside! The coastal biome is arguably the most attractive in Gielinor. Wherever the sea meets the land, we have a coast! Let's look at some of the facts..." [hide=Factfile] Name: Coastal Biome/Marine Habitat Terrain: Almost always thin sediment, such as Sand. This is due to the wave action of the sea, which deposits the sand on the coastline, an example being the Catherby Beach. In some areas however, larger stones such as Shingle make up the beach. This seems to be the case on the semi-glacial island of Pirates' Cove, where you can see large rocks making up the coastline. "A specimen of 100 year old sand, taken from our vault at the University" Popular ecosystem examples: One of the best tourist destinations for the coast is Catherby, which attracts many fishers. The beach here is supported by a rich amount of wildlife, and many local shops which provide skilling opportunities for its visitors, including being home to the Fletching skill cape. Another popular destination is the Karamjan coastline, which provides a tropical environment for its visitors. The main biome here however is the Tropical Jungle, however the surrounding sandy coastlines are popular for fishers and pirate-enthusiasts! Less popular coastlines include Mos Le'Harmless, where a recent attack by a mysterious species have made this place an unpopular tourist destination. Harmony Island also was home to zombie Pirates and toxic gas, however don't let that put you off! This is the only place where you can see the puffin in Gielinor. "Rarghrgh?" Flora: Plants that grow here are often "Halophytic", which means they are salt-resistant. This is an important factor, as the seas of Gielinor are salt rich, which could potentially kill any other species. In Catherby, you may be surprised to see Evergreen trees, as some may expect taller Coconut and Palm trees. Though one can grow palm trees on the beach, the natural landscape here may actually be a psammosere. This is a geographical phenomena observed in Gielinor, which is a "Sand succession". This means, as we go further back from the sealine towards the Summoning Obelisk on Catherby beach, the vegetation becomes more and more green. Right at the very edge of the beach, you can see a light coloured sand, which hasn't been colonized by a large amount of plants. This is because of the water sweeping them away, and the salty conditions allowing only "Pioneer" plants to grow. Further and further back, the ground becomes greener because plants are colonising the area, until we reach the very back of the succession, known as the "Climax", where evergreen trees grow. If you explore Catherby town, you can find Daisies and Ferns, which may have "escaped" from the local farm patch to grow naturally. Fauna: The main animals associated with the coast are of course Fish. Lobsters, swordfish, tuna, salmon, trout and even Sharks can be found here, which are popular for fishing. In Karamja however, very very diverse wildlife have colonised here, such as Harpie Bug swarms. This is probably due to the very hot climate associated with the jungle. Crabs and other crustaceans are often found in places such as Mudskipper point. Here, rare fish known as Mudskippers can be found, which are hunted by semi-aquatic ogre descendants known as "Mogres", who can attack visitors on the point. At Arctic coastlines, penguins and polar bears can also be found, however these are more associated with the Arctic biome. Climate: The climate here is often hotter in the winter, and colder in the summer (with mild exceptions). This is because the sun heats water to a greater depth than it heats land. So land is heated quickly, but loses it quickly too. At the coast, the water doesn't become as warm as inland, however it retains its heat for longer. This effect explains why it can be hotter in the winter, however in extreme temperate cases such as the Jungle, this sometimes isn't the same. [/hide] [/hide] Very much a WIP!
  21. But the terrain is green with a tinge of yellow, which likely just means grassy area or jungle areas (as they are green with a yellow tinge in places) and you can see more land across the water which doesn't really fit the deserts layout. And the architecture doesn't fit with the desert that draws on egyptian and kinda classic arabian styles, puts me in mind of kethsi, daemonheim and other old pre-godwars places like ghorrock. Perhaps we could FINALLY being to kudos isle? The 2nd concept art he linked to (actually not sure where it came from, but it shows a glove) has some rather random but clearly labeled "Desert Headgear" in it. What concept art is this???? Not seen it or any link to it. The art linked to in the first post, the person standing at the base of the tower also appears to be wearing desert clothes and the terrain is definitely sand. Plus the way the land in the concept art piles up against the tower is a characteristic of blowing sand :P
  22. Sounds like a good month! Looks like the Dominion's Tower will be somewhere in the Kharidian Desert close to Nardah. Unfortunate that the halloween event will be based on Clan Citadels though, hate it when they do that :(
  23. The new content is disappointing for me, and I agree many others feel the game is going to pot slightly, however I still enjoy playing the old content that hasn't been tampered with to such a degree. I don't renew my membership solely for the new updates and BXPW, but because there are parts of the game which are very fun
