Is it possible for me to transfer while missing some pre-reqs is my only question lol. If that's a yes, I'm confident I'd transfer in. A few of my teachers at my school went to Georgia Tech and they liked it but that was anywhere from 10-40 years ago. (One of them was talking about how the area around Georgia Tech was like "the projects" when he attended but that's no longer a problem obviously). Seriously though, when did you go? What program were you in? How difficult were the courses? If you've been to another school, how do the courses compare at Georgia Tech? Was going to Georgia Tech over a smaller university worth it? What were the networking opportunities like while you attended? I could most definitely get into NC State which would be like 1/10th the cost, but a CS degree from Georgia Tech looks a lot better than a CS degree from NC State...

Finally, my room no longer looks like a kid's room. I moved up to a full size bed, got or repurposed furniture to match, printed and framed some of my artwork, and cleaned up some crap. [hide] [/hide] This genuinely makes me pretty happy.

My dean contacted the dean over at Georgia Tech (my #1 school choice) because I'm missing a few pre-reqs for the major (Computer Science). None of the relevant classes at my school transfer so there's no point in my taking them anyway. I'm an excellent student so I'm hoping they can make an exception or whatever. This is the list of things I sent my dean that I've done, I don't know how many she mentioned when emailing the dean at Georgia Tech: Made apprenticeship website for Funeral Services Department, working on similar website for Cosmetology DepartmentCan provide letter of recommendation from chairman of the computer department & dean of public services3-month software development internship turned into current job as a software developer at Immersion MediaProvided computer programming tutoring during summer semestersWorking on starting business developing entertainment applications, should launch within next 3-4 monthsContributes to open source projects such as Allegro, Egoboo, and LOVE4.0 GPAThat stuff on top of the obstacles I've overcome would be like candy to admissions if it weren't for the fact I'm missing some pre-reqs... Worse comes to worst I'll just go to the local university for a year and fill in the missing classes then transfer. (You need 30 credit hours at your current institution to transfer). But I'd rather not...

There will be an examine for colored beams if color is necessary puzzle element. The examine feature works just like in RuneScape. That's something I loved about RuneScape--the witty examines. I pull a Dark Souls sometimes too and give an interesting examine for important objects/items.

In the advanced settings there's going to be a way to specify color blindness when it comes to that. I'll have you covered. I want my game to be very accessible. Feedback on how to improve for disabilities is always welcome. (This is aimed at anyone who plays not you in particular.) re: puzzles, yes, there's not going to be anything like that. Extra gimmicks would be monsters that walk around and block the light, timed lights, etc. But the general idea is the same: direct light into a receiver.

Mirror puzzles. I don't know how many people here did the quest Mourning's End Part 2 in RuneScape but mirror puzzles are going to be a big thing in my game. They power the Old One Prisium's terrible machines. The initial puzzles will just involve getting a specific beam to a specific receiver, the more advanced puzzles will involve refracting light, creating multiple beams, etc. OooOoooOooh.

My latest launcher has been downloaded roughly 80 times. (A few of those would be me but the number is insigifniciant.) The latest game build has only been downloaded roughly 10 times. You know why? Microsoft is literally ruining the success of my game. I wonder if I'd have a leg to stand on by buying the code signing cert then suing them for the cost of the cert in small claims court. Their warning saying my game "may put computers at risk" which is unfounded bullshit. We're talking I have to put out almost $1,000 to get rid of this warning. I don't have that money at this point considering my game is free. They are using their monopoly to force smaller developers to the Windows store, where they make a nice cut of profits. That's illegal. edit: I'm not really thinking of suing Microsoft lol.

That's doesn't make any sense... Like I'm having a very hard time understanding how you can say something you know nothing about doesn't look interesting? To try and be constructive, was it the screencap? I updated it: Does that 'appearing interesting' now?

I went to the ECGC last year but missed too many classes this year so I couldn't attend.

A template is a graphic that can be customized by the client with their own logos, graphics, texts, and stats. A widget is a template created by our artists to be embedded repeatedly inside another template (e.g., in a grid or bracket layout). I'm using the terms correctly. I changed the first three blurbs: Worked in a team with three other engineers to develop ScoreShots, a modern React web application used by sports teams and organizations including NCAA athletic departments and the USGA to create promotional images and videos via templates for social mediaAdded support for dynamic templates (templates composed from other templates allowing rapidly altering the layout to fit the clients’ needs) and import/binding sport stats to fields resulting in feature parity with our older product, ScoreShots LegacyLead developer of animation backend, a microservice deployed to AWS using Dokku, capable of generating incredibly advanced animations from jobs submitted to the serverDid you find problems with jargon in freelance / projects? After the updates I made to my resume from Hedgehog / Boris I was told it's fine by an engineer at Nintendo of America that it's fine (he reviews resumes that hit his desk). His advice was to network since HR is incompetent but I'm not sure how to do that.

So one year experience at a start up isn't good enough, ok. (This isn't me criticizing you.) I'm sure my main points of contention have been missed in the back and forth: 1. What does my resume look like? 2. Portfolio? Github? 3. Has anyone (besides RPG) even watched my trailer? If not, what's the last YouTube video you watched? Can a few people at least answer these questions? It's like literally 5 minutes of your time. I can't know where I'm going wrong if I don't have feedback. You know, it's like debugging why you're getting a black screen in a 100K LOC rendering pipeline--without feedback, you're never going to figure it out by looking at the source.

What counts as "in the door?"

I apologize for my earlier post, I was unusually upset. I'm diagnosed with schizophrenia but sometimes things can swing my emotional state all-the-way-in angry, depressed, scared, happy for days... It's hard to deal with. My portfolio, in no particular order: Algae Canvas, the (ex-)fastest vector graphics renderer in the world (at least open source)a website for the FSEItsyRealm (60K+ LOC, 2-3 hours gameplay, 1000s hours development time)Fixel and Eight Seasons, two other complete but small gamesBuilding destruction simulatorAI-based DPS calculator, including things like movement speed and mistakesDiscworld, a graph-like gameplay data ORM with Lua bindingsBMASHINA, an advanced C++ AI behavior tree library with a novel I/O system for nodes with Lua bindingsAutonmoaus, a C++ bot for a certain MMO capable of up to mid-level PVM, utilizing emergent behvaiors, and featuring a zero ban rate during its time activeI followed Ring_World's advice and redid my resume. Now it's two pages but it highlights in the technical/social (for things I worked on with others) features of my job, freelance work, and most notable projects. So is this the resume you're talking about?. You said I don't value myself, that wasn't true. I'm aware there's something I'm doing critically wrong. I'm trying to figure it out: is it my resume, is it my lack of a BS, what is it. Because for example the Red Hat senior lead architect (I believe that's the correct role) said a BS isn't very important once your foot is in the door (and mine is) and many others have expressed the same thing. I have the skills, I just can't get an interview and I don't know why. For example, have you watched my trailer that's literally one of the points of my argument? It's not even two minutes. I'm ignored unless I stir shit I guess. I feel like you’re contradicting yourself here I have delusions of grandeur so it's a fine line between "Am I really that good or do I just believe I'm that good?" It's not until therapy that I tempered how I present myself. I literally believe all of the former but don't tell anyone. All it takes is someone to talk to me about something pertinent/important and they usually how incredible I am within 5-10 minutes. That's why the problem with jobs is not even getting an interview, if I got an interview the rest would be a breeze.
  16. Veiva replied to Leoo's topic in Off-Topic
You are. I think Ring_World mentioned one time what would Chad Veiva said re: dating profile. Well this is what Chad Veiva would say about theirself: I am better than everyone else. I am extremely hard working, focused, stubborn, disciplined. I'm selfless to a fault. I am statistically most likely the smartest person in a room of 100. I have never met a programmer as talented as me. My ego is enormous but I don't flaunt it. I'm realistic and understand my thinking is slightly delusional or overconfident so I downplay it. This may have a negative effect of making people think I don't value myself or have self-esteem problems. But the issue I have is others don't recognize me. I am ignored despite how god-damn incredible I am. If someone talks to me for more than a few minutes that realize how intelligent and personable I am. All my closest friends say I'm an inspiration, especially since they know the terrible circumstances I came from. I live in Fayetteville. It's a military town with basically no options. 90% of jobs are retail or fast food. I have a minimum of 9 more months here before I graduate with an AAS and can pursue my BS elsewhere (NC State, Georgia Tech, etc). There are very few programming jobs that don't require security clearance. (I'm a socialist that hates the existing administration with severe mental health issues; I wouldn't give myself security clearance). I took what I got. I misplayed the initial salary negotiation, mistakenly believing they couldn't afford what I wanted and really wanting to get away from Staples. I admit that was a mistake, but it wasn't because I undervalued myself. Regardless I refuse to go back to retail. Re: portfolio, you think I can force someone HR goon looking at an online job application view my portfolio? LOL. Like they could even understand what they're looking at with their BS in BS.
  17. Veiva replied to Leoo's topic in Off-Topic
I did that Hedgehog (except the shadowban-risking bullshit). I posted to a more appropriate subreddit (/r/gamdev doesn't allow self-promotional posts like trailers) and at the right time (literally on the dot best time for posts in the last year or whatever). Of people I know I think RpgGamer is the only person whose watched the trailer and it's been in this thread for a couple days and on the #OT Discord, a few forums, and Reddit. Because he's the only one who commented on it. This is my frame of reference: No one ever looks at my portfolio when I apply for jobs. No one is interested in my game despite my trying. This means even if I finish my game, or at least the demo, and put it on my portfolio it doesn't matter because potential employers don't even look at my portfolio. It's all a waste of time. I just don't exist. I am an amazing programmer (if there's such as thing as a 10x programmer [imo there is] I'm a 10x programmer*) and games developer but no one who matters knows. My superpower is being ignored. There was once a neighbor a few houses down who asked, over 10 years after I'd been living in the same house, how recently I had moved in. *: I'd like to pre-emptively nip that in the bud and also brag: I've been working part-time at my company 'IM' since June (as intern then part time in September) and I've contributed more to our products than all three full-time programmers by a significant margin. I've added nearly two dozen large features, including an impressive animation backend web service, and dozens of major bug fixes or QOL fixes that have added significant value to the product. In 15-20 hours I do 4x (at a minimum) the work that my fellow coworkers do no matter what metric you want to use (PRs, code contributions, commits, issues closed) ergo by that metric I'm a 8x-10x programmer relative to my coworkers. I'm also paid 1/4th-1/5th what they are. Which means I'm walking if they don't agree to salary negotiations in a couple months. They'll quickly realize they won't find someone as good at the salary I would have requested but by then they're SOL. The sad part is I'll make more working at Staples than I did at IM. A retail position paying more than a software developer position.

This is what Adult Swim Games wants for a pitch: https://www.adultswim.com/games/pitch/ This is my pitch so far: How does that sound? I think it sounds pretty [bleep]ing dull lol. Per the description of the early build I'd say the build is the first area, some of the stuff from the pitch, include a video to a well put together trailer + link to game.

Lol that's the exact same helmet I have. I had the idea of painting the baseboard/trim (I don't know if that's the right term; the stuff around doors that connects to the baseboard at the bottom) of my room black and the walls white. Does this seem like a bad idea? I think it'd look nice but I'll probably Photoshop it first to see how it'd look.

I was trying to draw the Bent-Neck Lady from Haunting of Hill House but ended up with this bird guy instead. Redecorating my room with black/white/red (stur wurs empire colors lol) so I'm trying to make a custom poster. This is one of my other ideas: That one's based off a WWII anti-Nazi propaganda piece dropped over France ("Hitler leads youths to death" or something) but I replaced Hitler with the Monopoly Man. /r/im14andthisisdeep The other two posters are a Stranger Things one my bro got me and a "Tournee du Chat Noir" poster I saw in Ft Lauderdale at the art museum. @ Nyosuht That's awesome! I want a motorcycle endorsement and a Honda or Indian uggggggggh
